[RE] In the End [RP]

Setting: AU, North America
Known Factions: Umbrella forces, survivors
Misc. Info: Umbrella works in self-contained, protected bases to continue their work, using survivors as test subjects when the need arises. Outside their bases people struggle to live in the ravaged world, the viruses running rampant and making daily life dangerous. Many people band together to create self-contained camps of their own and to protect one another, others still travel and live on their own.

It was a rare find, that being a moment of peace and quiet. Mana had taken the moment to inspect her stolen gear and weapons. They were the things keeping her alive, after all. It wouldn't do much god to let them rust or break if she could prevent it, even if she could feel the grime caked on her face and arms. It was a disgusting feeling but one she'd long since grown used to. Mana hated it.

She had enough time to pull back her hair once more, taking the time so that it would lay fine and that the ties wouldn't slip out if she had to move a lot. The last thing she needed was her hair getting in the way or grabbed. In hindsight she should have cut it.

Afterwards it was a simple process to wash away what she could on her exposed arms, face and neck. There wasn't any time to actually bath. A whore's bath as common anymore. No doubt she had to smell a little bad, her clothes well lived in at this point. She put the thought out of her head for the time being.

With all of that done she found herself before the blocked off cabin door. All the windows were boarded up, some more recently than others. Mana had counted herself lucky that nothing had come sniffing around in the night and busted on through. Some of those planks had looked rotted but there wasn't much to replace them with. The sooner she was gone the better.

Now she bounced on the balls of her feet, shaking her hands out and readying herself for anything. Many roaming about had formed bands, thieves or murderers who did what they want anymore. Mana would rather be prepared to pull a gun on them quickly if she had to than to be caught off guard. Or maybe there was one of those mutations lurking around the area, unseen and waiting...

"Well, no sense in waiting," she murmured to herself. "Seize the day, right?"

With that said she grasped the door and tugged it open, slipping outside silently. The sun had long since risen, Mana waiting until it was well lit out to see. She'd rather not be caught off guard because something had been hidden in shadows now. A precursory glance around and she was off, hoisting her pack higher up on her shoulders as she went.

Mana kept her pace quick, eager to get back to that car strewn road. Many were stripped of parts though the road itself was otherwise unused but to let the remains rust. Occasionally something was stuck inside, rotting along with the wrecks. Many of the other roads were the same anymore.

With any luck there wouldn't be any trouble today. Then again there was always trouble to be had anymore. The only question was just how much of it would come around and if she'd survive through it to see the next day.

A knock of her door stirred Paige from whatever rest she was managing to get. Sitting up she stretched her arms above her head, giving a yawn. She could hear the stiff muscles pop from doing this.

Throwing off the thin blanket, she threw her legs over the side of the bed quickly slipping on her boots, standing she made her way over to the door before pulling it open. Bryson was standing on the other side, she had been scouting with him once or twice with him always surveying what happened outside and report it all back to the chief.

He was pale boy, with green eyes, and a mess of brown hair, but today he looked paler than usual.

"What do you need?" She asked before stepping out of her room and into the hall with him.

"The chief is calling a meeting;" his voice came out timid, catching Paige off guard. The chief very rarely called meetings.

"What's going on?" She asked before falling into a slow stride down the hallways, Bryson quickly falling in line. The hotel that all of the Thunder members took refuge in was a bit run down, but it housed all of them. This was what everyone would call a sheer luck find after being pushed out of their last camp area.

Bryson's silence to Paige's question didn't go unnoticed either. Nothing good ever came from silence. Opening up the fire exit door that was located on the left the two began to proceed down the stairs to the first floor.

Paige couldn't help the uneasiness that began to stir within her as they started getting closer to the end of the stairs. Bryson reached out and pushed the door opened holding it for her to walk through. Quickly, she shielded her eyes from the suns blinding rays. She paused to look around noticing that the usually busy streets were dead except for a few people here and there that murmured chatter.

When she heard the door close and the sound of feet hitting the pavement she looked to her left where Bryson took his place again; "Shit must have really hit the fan for everyone to act like this."

She started scanning over everyone again, they held expressions of fear, which honestly wasn't something new, but this was different.

"Another group." Paige quickly stopped and turned her attention to the boy. Her eyes narrowed at the news before she let out a deep sigh.

"Well, this day keeps getting better by the second." Shaking her head she tilted her head in the direction they needed to head in before she began making her way back that way again.

Sylvia wasn't sure how long it had been. Since the outbreak, it seemed like time had little meaning anymore. Days passed and the most she worried about was surviving.

She didn't rely on much of anyone else anymore. Trust betrayed by the man she once deeply cared for, she didn't look for help. She'd been specially trained as it was, knew how to take care of herself. The most she didn't shed from those days was an oddly shaped bird mask.

She didn't have any home, kept on the move, ignored the bases and anyone affiliated with them. Umbrella, as it was, meant nothing to her anymore. Why she kept going at all, she had no idea. She blamed a strive or hope to see something better out of all of this.

Sylvia heaved a sigh, wandering an abandoned building. Most of these places were dangerous. This one seemed cleaned out, however. Places like this normally were, as desperate as people could get.

A shake of her head followed, the soft blue glow coming from the large eyes of the mask really her own light. There was only so much daylight could do, given the power being cut long ago.

In all her days having worked with Umbrella, she had known the risks. She just never imagined this would have come from it.

She kicked a nearby stone, not at all worried about what might be hiding in the building. Everything was quiet for once and she needed a place to settle down for a short time. It seemed here would be as good as any.

Mana hadn't wasted much time in picking up her pace, jogging along the thankfully level ground. Up ahead she knew the area sloped up after a rather sizable ditch she'd have to stumble down and back up just to reach that damn road. At least on the pavement it would be more or less level, she'd just have to be careful of what might be lurking in or under ruined vehicles.

At one point Mana had to duck low, keeping out of sight as best she could at the giant reptile thing that was lurking about in the nearby grove of trees. It seemed to prefer the shade, in any rate, even if the sun wasn't all that high up yet. Mana figured that was best, her steps silent.

She breathed easier when it was out of sight, far behind her. The last thing she needed was that thing barreling after her. The last time she had to fight one off she'd expended almost all of her ammunition. She'd rather avoid that for anything else she might not be able to avoid.

Mana had to resort to bear running her way up the slope once she'd come to it, the sun rising up high and beating down on her already. She heaved a sigh, rolling her shoulders and glancing around. She left her bangs as they were for the moment, stuck to her forehead by sweat. Instead her hand lingered over the handgun at her thigh, ready for anything that might lurking around.

Beast, monster or even people, they all were threats in their own way. Better safe than sorry. So far there was nothing. Perhaps there hadn't been much human traffic to draw in the monsters...

"Well, talk about lucky!" she cheered under her breath at the thought.

Chris swiped the back of his hand across his brow, more to ease his headache than to get rid of any sweat. It wasn't too hot. He'd dealt with worse when he was in basic training for the Air Force in any case. His partner and he had gotten separated. Jill was on a mission with someone else in their little encampment, leaving Chris with one of the newbies.

"Let's hope he didn't get into any trouble," Chris sighed, worried for the guy. Joey was still wet behind the ears when working on any mission he was given...

He kept his steps careful though occasionally a bit of debris would tumble across the floor. Chris would pause, sweeping his firearm left and right for anything that might have heard and come for him. A lot of those mutations took refuge in these places, after all.

With any luck Joey might have sought refuge in here while they were seeking out food and medication for everyone back at the base. With Umbrella top dogs now it left everyone else scrambling for the left overs. The thought made Chris' blood boil.

Chris jerked, freezing and listening. He could swear something nearby had moved something. Finger hovering over the trigger Chris finally started forward. If it was something aggressive he'd settle it now before it could sneak up on him later. Chris hoped the silencer on his handgun would help. He'd slipped it on only after Joey had gotten separated, eager to not cause any sort of hoard of those zombies if he could help it.

Peeking around a corner Chris caught sight of someone wandering the building. The frame was too short for Joey though there was a mask over the person's face, the eyes light from behind. Chris swung out, pistol pointed at the mystery person.

"Freeze!" he demanded. Only Umbrella agents had access to that amount of equipment, after all! "Don't move a muscle!"
