| Eiko relented simply enough, even if she looked down at him for a long moment, as if in thought. Maybe she expected him to do something weird. No need to think about that! When given the chance, he might tease her a little later on!
"Hey, well alright then!" he answered lightly, "I get a ride from a hot babe!"
Whether or not she took offense to this, Issun really didn't find it in him to care. He was often like this with women. Being pushed around or flung about was something of a normality.
Better to play hard to get than nothing at all!
"We'll get moving right away! I'm sure things will work out, don't you worry!" he brought up as he waited for her to knell down once again. When she did, he jumped into her hand and made an easy leap for her shoulder. There, he would remain until they reached the village, "Keep your chin up, cutie, you'll be fine!"
Still, she looked somewhat forlorn. Even as he pointed her in the right direction, she seemed to have trouble simply adjusting, as if the noises and smells around her were some sort of problem. Eiko had these senses forever, right? Why did it seem all of this was new to her.
"Hey, you okay?" he called out carefully, "You look like you don't feel very well."---- [ x ] ---- If he had noticed her gaze, he had done nothing about it. He simply shifted in place, trying to get comfortable. Given everything here, she couldn't blame anyone who just wanted to sit down and try to relax. She was already on near constant edge just by being here.
Serena shifted, toying with the hem of her pocket. She heard him speak, simple words, but at least he wasn't ignoring her. She hummed in response, letting him know she had heard.
Putting it off her mind. It was often easier said than it was done. Of course, he didn't know about those problems and Serena was hesitant to bring them up. She was often a mess as it was. Why give him more to worry about?
"Maybe. Who knows," she answered, "Strange things happen everyday, after all."
Her thumb brushed passed a small lump in her pocket. Digging into it, she found her two voodoo dolls she always kept together. When had they gotten into her pocket? She held them in her palm, taking in their familiarity for a long moment.
"I don't quite remember stuffing these in my pocket either," she pointed out to herself. Maybe they had fallen from the thumb tack above her bed, "Oh well..."
Now that she had discovered them, they could at least serve as something familiar to recall home. | |
