It couldn't have been more than a month that she had been there, making her appearances every other day and sitting in the exact same spot. To say she was a little odd would have been something of an understatement. That first day that she had arrived, making herself another of the regulars since then, had been a jarring one.

In she had strolled, getting right up in everyone's personal space, peering closely at their face before declaring, "You're not Him." With that she had moved to the next person in the room and repeated the process until everyone had been thoroughly examined by the red-eyed girl. And with that she had sat in the stool right in front of the bar's door, knees akimbo and hands clasping the edge of her seat before her like a child.

Any interaction between her and those around her only netted the same results. When asked what she was doing she would merely reply with "Waiting." and that was that. When asked for who she had merely said "For Him" and had been unable to give any further explanation as to who this 'Him' was other than that the red-eyed girl did not even know him but had assured everyone that she would know who He was and that would be that.

So it had been for the month. Now she sat again, after having pushed her face close to a trainer's traveling through the region and thus had not been examined by the strange girl before. Again, she declared him not the person she was waiting for and had taken up her usual stool.

"So, you have a name, kid?" Barry finally asked that day, eyeing the girl carefully as she blinked those wide red eyes up at him.

"I am SIX." And that was the way she had said it, announcing the number so matter-of-factly that one could just hear the capitalization behind the word. And with that she thrust her hand out, displaying a leather band, worn with age, threaded through a metal tag - like that of a dog tag. On it those close enough could make out the worn letters of 'S-I' and half of an 'X'. Whatever else might have been stamped onto the metal had long since been worn away.

That said she turned her attention back to the door, sitting resolutely as she always did. Despite her determination Six fidgeted, looking antsy to meet whoever He was and to go on about her business.

Truth be told, the bar patrons that knew her by now were eager to be rid of her as well. The sooner she was gone the normalcy could return to their little bar and diner.

So, Six sat impatiently. She had seen him stop here a couple of times but those times she had been followed. Six couldn't afford to wait if she was being tailed and so she had passed up those times to be safe. Now where was He? Where was that stupid blond man with the Raichu that she waited for? It had been a few days since he'd been here and she was eager to finally meet Him and get things settled.

Surge hadn't returned home in a long while. He had long since been a gym leader in Kanto, training and battling simply to grow stronger. After a long while, the challenges grew boring and no one seemed on par with his skills.
He made the decision to leave Kanto, resign as a gym leader, and return to Unova.

Since the years absent from the region, a lot had changed. It was still a home to him though he had taken the time to travel the area on and off. He'd stopped in one of the smaller cities, only to rest a while. On and off, he would visit a bar, get to know the people and reconnect.

He had little idea that someone had been seeking him out in the short time he had returned however. Only a passing word let him know.

Surge hadn't visited that bar in a couple days passed. Pushing his way in again, he hadn't forgotten the familiar scents or sounds that floated about the area. He smirked slightly, his Raichu hopping from his shoulder and milling about with other Pokemon.

He sat that the bar, leaning forward. Surge had barely glanced around the area, remaining rather quiet. When the bar tender asked if he wanted anything, he quickly ordered a drink and left it at that.

Surge had heard rumors of someone seeking him out though he had little idea of who or why. He didn't put too much stock into it, instead focusing on his surroundings. It wasn't much but he liked the crowed.

For the moment, he put the thought of whoever was looking for him out of his mind.

---X---

Shia wandered the streets, really unsure of what city or town she'd been in. Trinity, her Mienshao, stuck closely to her side. Trinity worked as her eyes day in and out, tugging Shia here and there when she needed it. For the most part, Shia had long since learned how to move about on her own.

She had asked about, simply to see where she was. It didn't take long to get an answer. They had been in Nimbasa City the entire time, though, when she asked she was either met with confusion or a snappy answer.

She'd gotten used to this thing, as much as she hated to admit it. It wasn't like she was going to announce that she was blind, after all. For her, it was a simply crux in the heart of her life. It didn't hold her took far back, not like if easily could have.

"My, my," she noted lightly toward Trinity. "These people are so grumpy."

Shia couldn't put it any other way. Even in a place with an amusement park so close by, some acted as if she was a simple nuisance. She clearly heard Trinity snort in agreement, even over the crowds. The sounds and smells used to easily overwhelm Shia. It wasn't so bad now that she was used to it.

"We'll have to move on and find a quieter place." she spoke to the Pokemon. Trinity reached out, tugging her two steps to the side, avoiding a couple who she nearly ran into. "I don't like such crowded spaces."

That feat was easier side than done at times. There was always a hassle of finding their way out of cities without getting stopped. Some, despite her protests, didn't think she could handle herself so easily on her own.

Shia hated being treated like a burden. She hated not being viewed as an equal. So she'd move on without a word and prove to those around her that she just fine on her own.

Time had passed as it always did for her - slowly. Occasionally the nearby bar patrons around her would prod her for more of an answer. Scowling she'd answer them shortly, almost snappishly. If this kept up she wouldn't be here much longer. Six would have to leave and hide out in the countryside for a day and lose anyone who might have spotted her before coming back.

"Six, huh?" James had prodded, pausing only to take a long swig of his beer before he continued. "Don't have any other name, do ya?"

At this Six turned her attention away from the door, brow furrowing. Other name? What were those? She was only Six and that was that. She had no other name and didn't have a need for one. Confused and sincerely wanting to know she asked, "Well... where would I get another name?"

James seemed to guffaw at her and Six's head tilted to one side, brow puckering further. The doors of the bar had opened then, unbidden to her now that someone had genuinely caught her attention. James shook his head even as Six took to rubbing at the metal tag on her leather band, trying to recall what else might have been stamped onto its surface as he gathered himself.

"Yer a weird one, girl. Kinda gonna miss ya when ya run off with whut's-his-face," he chuckled, tipping his mug of beer towards her as if to indicate as such.

"Ah-huh," she mumbled, turning away and surveying the bar patrons yet again. The sooner she was out of this bar with its air conditioning the better she'd feel. Her exposed arms and midriff only left her cold here, despite all the warm bodies inside.

Her line of thought was broken when she caught sight of a familiar mop of blond hair. Six nearly shook herself in astonishment, disbelief already pooling in her at the appearance of the very man she had been waiting for. Almost shy now that he was there, now that she could just reach out and touch him if she wanted Six had to gather herself before sliding from her stool not bothering to bid James a farewell and strolled right down to Him just a few stools away.

"I've been waiting, you know," she spoke up, unsure about what to say now that he was here. She rocked on her heels, clasping her elbow in one hand and waiting for him to turn and actually answer. As if called by her voice from the other side of the bar, bounding around and through people's legs came a Jolteon, standing near Six's leg and waiting.

Nimbasa had always been a bustling city, so full of life. Even now, two years after he had come through here on his way to become the hero recognized by Zekrom. N shook his head. Now was no time to recall those memories, even as he strolled along the sidewalk with his hands in his pockets. Now-a-days- he only have Zekrom with him and that was only because he knew what was happening here in Unova again.

He glanced about, taking care not to trip over any stray Pokemon or over anybody else. N didn't want to cause any sort of trouble for anyone if he could help it.

Still, N's gaze drifted skyward where he could spy a few Unfezant floating by on the hot air that kept them lifted so easily. Even as he rounded a corner his gaze was still upwards, eyes shaded by his hat from the sun. He didn't know he'd been about to bump right into anyone until it actually happened.

He grunted, blinking in surprise as he righted himself and staring, rather horrified, at the dark-haired girl and her Mienshao. He swallowed the lump in his throat, unsure if she'd get angry at him or not. Regardless of that he set to work on making things right.

"I apologize! I wasn't looking where I was going," he said, the words tumbling out of his mouth in a rush and N couldn't be sure if she even made out what he was saying. Swallowing again he inclined his head.

"You're not injured are you...?" he ventured, glancing at her carefully even as her Mienshao was helping her.

Surge had waited quietly for his drink, listening to the conversations around him. Most of it was hushed at times or exploded into sudden laughter. It wasn't strange for the atmosphere, being where he was.

When his drink finally arrived, he too a swig of the beer, barely casting a glance at anything else. He watched his Raichu from the corner of his eye, knowing very well the electric Pokemon could get himself into trouble if and when he wanted to.

He was bull headed, much like Surge could be himself.

Surge lifted his head when someone spoke up. He hadn't expected to be approached. Most gave him a with berth for his appearance alone. Unless someone wanted to pick a fight, or the other way around, he was left alone.

He glanced at the dark haired girl, grunting slightly in response. "Waiting?" he shot back. "For me? For what reason?"

He couldn't believe that this scrawny little thing was the one who was searching him out. Yet here she was, claiming that she had been 'waiting' for him. He shook his head slightly then. Whatever the reason, he sat and waited for her explanation - if she had one to provide.

Shia had remained quiet, listening to the conversations around them when someone bumped into her. If she had been prepared, it wouldn't have been so bad. She stumbled backward a little, Trinity getting behind her and pushing her forward so not to allow her to fall.

She blinked, aimlessly looking for the person who had run into her. Words quickly spilled out of someone's mouth, a male, she could easily tell.

Trinity tugged Shia's hand, pulling her a few steps forward and indicating where this person was. Shia smiled soon after.

"It's alright, friend." she responded lightly. "No harm done. I happens."

For her, it was a normal thing. If Trinity didn't pay too much mind to their surroundings or couldn't pull her out of the way safely enough, Shia sometimes collided with people. There was no helping it.

"Don't worry too much about it, kay?" she pressed.

Shia wouldn't get angry about it. Instead, she aimlessly stuck out her hand, regardless of if it was left hanging in the air and far from the male's own. As she expected, Trinity grabbed hold of her wrist and tugged her a little more forward until she was close enough and in the right stop. She was a little embarrassed to admit that she'd been off to the left a little.

"My name is Shia Taylor." she introduced. "Who are you, friend?"

Six scoffed at the way his eyes traveled form head to foot, appraising her skinny little body. If it weren't for the tight shirt - well, sports bra, really - she wore she wouldn't have appeared to have much of a figure at all and Six was well aware of that. In fact she had been carded no less than four times this month because she looked younger than she was. Still, she pushed her face closer to his, observing his face up close just as she had with all the others that had blond hair like his in the past month.

Only when she was sure it really was him she had been waiting for she rocked back again, one elbow still clutched in other hand behind her back.

"Yes, waiting. Yes, you. Because I need..." she began, trailing off while her Jolteon still waiting silently beside her. His dark eyes darted here and there looking for any of those that were chasing after Six since her rather violent escape months ago.

While she attempted to spit the words out Six looked as if she had smelled something bad. Her nose wrinkled in distaste. She was an independent one and didn't like to admit that she needed help, even now - even after a month of knowing this was what she was waiting for him for.

Finally she spit out, "Because I need help." She spat the word out as if it was something disgusting, her nose wrinkling again in distaste. She bounced on her heel, hoping that this wouldn't take long and that she wouldn't keep having to repeat that she needed the assistance. Six knew the man was capable, just one look at him was all she needed to know. He carried a confident, proud air about him and anyone with his stature had the discipline to train his own body as well as to keep up training his Pokemon.

As if to keep things moving along she released her elbow from her own grasp, thrusting her arm out with the little leather band and the metal tag on it. Numbers and letters had long since been scraped or worn off leaving only those three letters 'S-I-X.' Again, as she had before, she proclaimed in a matter-of-fact way, "I am SIX."

Beside her the Jolteon spoke up, crying out over the noise of a nearby group who were cheering over something or other. Perhaps he was introducing himself. Six had never been one to know for sure what Pokemon were saying unless she had been with the particular creature for long enough to grow accustom to it like all other people in the world.

N cleared his throat, watching the Mienshao helping the dark-haired girl. He found himself intrigued just with the way that she moved so stiffly as if unsure of where anything was in relation to herself. Even Mienshao was helping her, steering her a step here or a step there, tugging her hand in the right place.

Was there a reason that her hair and hat covered her eyes like they did? N's brow furrowed at that. Was she blind? If she was she didn't mind it, that was for sure.

"Are you sure?" he prodded, though he didn't see any injuries on her.

Awkwardly N slipped his hand into her own after Mienshao had steered the appendage in the needed spot. The handshake was brief and his grip had been light, uncertain.

"I am N," he said, observing her again with new found curiosity. N hadn't met a blind person before. His attention drifted to Mienshao and he inclined his head to her as well. "And you are, little one?"

The day was nice, the sun shining brightly down on them. It was the afternoon though in a few hours it would start to chill as the sun set. Perhaps N had found something to draw his attention just for a little while before he would need to head to the Pokemon Center to rest for the night.

Surge watched the woman carefully, taking her in. She was scrawny and looked rather young for this kind of joint. The fact that she was here and not carded at the moment, he figured she was older than she looked.

When she spoke about waiting for him, he shook his head a little. What was he supposed to make of that? What did she need his help for? There were plenty of other trainers who did the same. She could have gone to anyone else.

He glanced at her hand, the tags catching his attention for a brief moment. Lifting his gaze, he cleared his throat. He barely returned the hand shake. It was light, barely there before his hand returned to the counter top, his index finger tapping lightly against it.

"Surge," he grunted the response.

Surge glanced around, watching for his Raichu. The little orange Pokemon moved closer to them, watching the woman named 'Six' carefully. His tail twitched back and forth carefully.

"What do you need my help for?" he pressed, glancing back to her. "I'm sure you could find someone else."

Really, he couldn't even put his trust in this woman much less know what she expected of him. What was her angle? As vague as she was, he could only guess.

---X---

Shia gave a large nod to his concerns. If anything, she'd been more surprised than hurt over the slight collide. It hadn't jostled her too much. In fact, she was rather happy that this one hadn't yelled at her, turning the collision into her fault alone.

"It's nice to meet you, N." she responded, letting her hand fall back to her side. She motioned toward Trinity. "This is Trinity." she answered. "She's my best friend and...well, my guide, really."

Shia couldn't see it, but Trinity lifted her head, cooing in response as if proud of the fact. She did her trainer a great favor after all. Without her, without any of Shia's Pokemon, the girl would be stuck at home and in one place for a long time.

Shia hated the thought of that kind of life.

She had taken in the sound of his voice, a soft kind thing. She had to wonder what he looked like. Without getting close, allowing her to paint a picture through description or touch, she could only guess.

"You've a very kind voice, N." she noted lightly. "Much kinder than some I've met. Do you mind if I tag along with you for the day? The company, or rather lack there of, has been rather unpleasant today."

Indeed, she'd run into some rather grumpy people. She quite liked the sound of N's voice, the gentleness and uncertainty in it. She hoped that he would allow her to stick around with him.

Six blinked when he took her hand, as light as it was. One minute his larger hand encased hers and then it was back on the counter, the lingering warmth disappearing before Six really had a chance to appreciate it. She allowed her hand to swing back around behind her, clasping her elbow again, trying not to look confused.

She hadn't thought he'd shake her hand. What'd he do that for anyways? It was something Six didn't know about. She had only put her hand out there to prove her name, right there on that little tag she'd always had. Did people always go about shaking hands like that? That was weird.

Six shook the thought form her head. Now wasn't the time. At least now she had his name, though. Surge. Fitting, from what she knew about him.

At Six found that she didn't know how best to explain it, even after this entire month of waiting here for him. It left Six frustrated, trying to find the words. She even released her elbow to gesture with her hands, miming the frustration. It wasn't like she could just blurt everything out anyways. For one there were too many people around for that, any number of them could overhear and trace her back to those she was running from and for another she was a little too proud to admit too a lot of it. It left her feeling like a worthless kid who couldn't do anything.

"You're strong, any idiot could see that," she answered after a moment, brow furrowed. "I-" she faltered again, swallowing hard and forcing herself to bite back her pride and continue on. Six looked a lot like she had swallowed something disgusting as she did so. "I need protection because..."

Six faltered again. Anything she could think to say here, in this public place wouldn't convince him. Seeing would be better but Six didn't know how to go about that. She cast a glance around, growing a little desperate. The Jolteon at her side was still keeping a vigilant air about him, ears twitching every so often as he listened carefully.

She placed her hands together, trying to appeal to this man's nature, in whatever kindness he might have hidden away. "I can't explain it, okay? I just really, really need somebody's h-help and you're the best for the job! How about this? I have fifty bucks, it's yours if you let me tag along with you for a day or two and if nothing happens and I look like I'm just a raving loon than you can go on your merry way and I'll be gone... okay...?"

- - - [x] - - -

N's smile grew at Shia's answer. It seemed the two were god friends, especially with how proud at her introduction that Mienshao was. He reached up, adjusting his hat briefly as he thought of something to say. Mienshao seemed pleased to be such a great aid to Shia and it was nice to see such a bond between human and Pokemon.

Once upon a time N wouldn't have believed that to be possible between anyone but himself and the Pokemon he could understand.

"I'm glad to hear that you two are such great friends," he noted warmly, nodding to Shia and Mienshao.

N spared a glance up towards the sky, spotting those Unfezant again. They were father away now, heading northwards. Only when Shia spoke up did he drag his eyes back down, forcing his mind not to drift along with those bird Pokemon.

"I don't see why not," he shrugged, well aware that it was unseen by Shia. Habits, after all. "I'm sure I would not have gotten much done as it is today."

He gestured to Mienshao, including her into the situation better as well. "Trinity, was it? Why don't you lead our way?" he offered amicably.

Surge snorted lightly, taking another swig of his drink as she plowed on. She had one thing right, he was strong and he prided himself in that fact. Why would she need someone strong though? She had her own Pokemon, that was obvious enough. She didn't need him.

The more she explained, the more he tried to listen. She wasn't making much sense. What had she done? Why did she need protection from him? He grunted, waving dismissively toward her.

"Protection?" he echoed the words. "Think you're lookin' for the wrong person, kid."

He left it that that. Surge wasn't one to protect anyone. He might have looked out for his own, but he knew nothing about the woman named 'Six' or what kind of trouble she'd gotten into. He had little business in those kind of jobs.

"Think you might be looking for someone else." he plowed on simply.

Glancing toward his Raichu, he watched the Pokemon's ears twitch carefully, as if listening to something. The mouse Pokemon seemed to be concentrating on something or other. For the moment, Surge dismissed it. It could have been a battle outside that he was hearing, wanting to join in himself

---X---

Shia was very glad that he would allow her to stick alongside him through the day. In fact, she was rather ecstatic. There were so few who bothered with her, either thinking she was too odd or finding her too 'frail'.

"I'm very glad to hear that," she replied. Shia nodded as if to confirm the words. "It's nice to have the company, once in a while."

Shia felt Trinity grab onto her hand for a brief moment. They really had no real destination in mind. With all intention, Shia had been ready to leave the city. She hadn't expected to literally run into someone who would show her any forms of kindness.

Trinity began to move again, carefully moving around people who might be too close to Shia. When she was sure her trainer was secure enough, the Pokemon let go of her hand, letting Shia take over. She would listen to the footsteps and sounds around them, judging where to step.

"So what is our friend, N doing in Nimbasa?" Shia inquired lightly. Her sightless gaze remained fixated ahead, unable to see anything that was coming their way.

Beside her Trinity cooed, as if prodding N to speak up. It was easier to Shia to keep track of new people through speech. She would listen to their footsteps, learn them, so she could tell who was approaching her. With so many people around them, that was a difficult feat.

Six was growing visibly agitated, fidgeting and glancing around her. Nothing had changed but she could feel it, feel them, they were coming and she had to hurry but he wasn't listening and how could she explain it? It left her frustrated, running out of time.

"No, it's gotta be you because you're strong! Anyone else might not be able to help!"

And to Six that was that but he wasn't listening now, glancing at his Raichu. And the Raichu was curious he had heard them but he didn't know who it was, had dismissed it and that mixed with her impatience and with the things she felt from them and it was all so frustrating!

They were out there, ready, they knew she was here today and she could feel them, the Pokemon. They had to have been pacing and preening and spoiling for a fight with the waves of just how antsy they all really were and in turn all of that made her antsy and she hated it-

There was a loud crash from the back, one of the doors crashing inwards and several cries of indignation, anger and shock rang out ruining the previously happy and lax mood of the bar. And she felt pain and she had already started to jerk before she caught herself, black at the edges of her vision for a brief moment and then it was gone but she had felt it, felt whatever Pokemon had been hit and knocked out, its pain hers and then it was gone as the Pokemon fell unconscious. But now it wasn't her pain because it had been its pain and then it had been gone, the Pokemon no longer feeling it and so she hadn't but now there was fear as a few of the other Pokemon ran for cover or near their trainers and it left her head muddled and confused as it all ran in at once.

Already her Jolteon was on his feet at the noise, pacing and unwilling to leave Six's side, his bristly fur standing on end as he hissed and spit. It would only be a few seconds later when those tailing Six would come in, high-leveled Pokemon at their sides and giving her Jolteon a target, sparks dancing along his fur at the black-clad Plasma members.

N smiled, despite the fact that she couldn't see it. That didn't mean he should change his way of behaving. That would be rather insincere, he felt. That wouldn't do at all.

"I suppose it is, isn't it?" he noted lightly, his hands finding their way into his pockets.

Nimbasa was still busy, even more so than a few hours ago since his arrival here. Not that it surprised him, at all. N glanced down to see Mienshao helping Shia along, even now. He couldn't help but to smile at this, too. He loved seeing this, seeing people and Pokemon coexist like this now. Two years ago and he wouldn't have been so sure, would have thought it was just brainwashing of some sort.

Now... well, now he knew better.

"I'm traveling through," he answered, nodding to Mienshao when she had prodded at him to speak up again. He paused for a minute before he asked, "And what are you two doing here in Nimbasa?"

He could at least return the favor and learn about her as well. They seemed like good people and N wanted to see if that was true or not.

Surge had tuned out most of her words at this point. Why she was so hell bent on getting his help, he could only assume. He was strong, that might have been true; but other trainers were as well. Surely she could have found someone else willing to play body guard for her.

He opened his mouth to snap at her, send her away. In the days he'd spent training, there were very few times he allowed himself a break. Surge didn't care to be interrupted, even during a simple time.

Surge was cut off before he even got the chance to speak up, a loud crash and the sound of Pokemon cries and peoples panicked voices milling into one noise. He stood up, wide eyed for a moment. Glancing for his Raichu, he called the Pokemon over to him.

"So, what kind of trouble you really in?" he inquired to the woman named Six. "Cause this doesn' seem like some small fry problem."

Surge had honestly expected as such. He could now say that his attention was caught however. Whatever this woman had done, there were obviously people trying to provide a challenge.

He glanced at the area around them. Most of the people were evacuating but some stayed, Pokemon at their sides, ready to brawl. He figured as such would happen, especially with the environment alone.

"Raichu! Thunderbolt!" he called out.

Raichu's cheeks sparked, his tail lashed as he charged the attack. Other trainers had called out their own attacks, fending off the people and Pokemon who had forced their way inside. The way Surge saw it, it was at least a distraction so they might get out.

The Pokemon let out it's electrical attack, sparks dancing throughout the room. Glasses shattered when electricity touched them, sending splinters of glass everywhere.

Surge reached out and grabbed Six's wrist. He wasted no time turning, heading for the back exit. Raichu lingered behind only briefly, as if daring any Pokemon to attack them.

Already, questions swirled through Surge's mind. It would have to wait, it seemed, until they were long away from battle.

---X---

Shia smiled slightly, barely moving her head to the side. She could hear his voice, made it easier to 'turn' her attention on him even though she couldn't see him. Sometimes it was hard. People didn't think she was listening or that she heard them. Habits were picked up after that, just to ensure others that she was listening to their words.

"Have you been travelling long?" she further inquired.

Trinity pushed her paw outward, halting Shia as a group of kids crossed their path. They ran about noisily before they were gone; though Shia could still hear their voices and laughter in the distance. Only when Trinity deemed it safe again did she prod Shia forward.

"We've been travelling too." she explained. "For a long time. We only go back home once in a while but we like to move from place to place. Don't care to be stuck in one area forever, so we go where we please."

For most, Shia knew that would be consider 'strange', especially for her condition. Time and time again she had proven she could take care of herself. Her Pokemon helped her as well. Sometimes, she could see better than people with sight could.

She paused for a moment, frowning. Over the noise, she could hear something different, a crackling in a way. It was there and gone, her sightless gaze shifting about slightly.

"I heard something strange..." she muttered absentmindedly.

She didn't not see Trinity glance up at her, as if waiting for a further answer. Shia didn't explain much more than that. If it popped up again, she might mention.

"Maybe someone's having a battle?"

It wasn't something uncommon, after all. She dismissed for the moment. A smile returned to her lips as they continued their walk. "We may leave this city behind soon though," she finally plowed on. "Too many noises and smells. Can be overwhelming sometimes."

Shia didn't mention that she was blind and didn't feel she needed to. For some, they were completely oblivious. Others simply got uncomfortable with her. If one could figure it out, she left it up to them. She saw no point in making anyone feel strange for her ailment.

Hard to focus, too much input, too much feeling that wasn't hers and all without warning. She couldn't tune it out, couldn't muffle it. It left her head buzzing, too much going through and it left her just so frustrated what was she supposed to be feeling?! Anticipation, eagerness all from those that hard barged right in and confidence - oh lots of confidence, it bordered on arrogance and then there was the fear, the hesitation and confusion that assailed her as well, leaving her body confused as to what it was feeling, what it was supposed to be feeling.

Her Jolteon hissed, sending out a warning Pin Missile, intentionally missing the opposition well aware of his trainer's condition. He couldn't do much without hurting her and as such he often sent out a warning shot or two before having to do so.

Six grasped her head, applying pressure trying to weed out the feelings of the Pokemon and trying to remember, remember what she felt but it was no good. Already she was muddled, too bogged down by all these outside emotions that weren't hers and left her mind buzzing and feeling dizzy. She swallowed, trying to focus on what Surge had said. Trouble? It wasn't her fault, they wanted to kill her, she hadn't done anything to them -

"Ran away - wanna kill-" she couldn't get much more out, gritting her teeth against the pain she felt. Not her pain, not hers but she felt it all the same as the battles started and attacks hit their mark.

She felt a jolt of confidence spike in her before the pain hit her, a Raichu crying out and lighting crackling soon after. Her jaw clenched painfully against the scream that bubbled up, forcing it down. No, she couldn't scream, wouldn't scream - it wasn't her pain, not hers, she had no reason to - but that attack it had been powerful, had hit a lot of Pokemon at once and the sudden burst of pain had caused Six to see stars and then black to gather in her vision. Her knees had nearly buckled under her and she couldn't be sure if the whimpering she heard had been hers or not.

not mine not mine not mine not my pain not mine NOT MINE

She heard her Jolteon call out, someone grabbed her wrist, tugging her along. Her eyes were clenched shut and she could only hope that whoever was tugging her along took her far enough away that this brawl would be out of her range, she'd no longer feel the mix of emotions and pain and feel so dizzy and about to pass out.

N couldn't help but to chuckle a little at that question. He had been traveling for a long time, actually. Two years traveling with Zekrom around the world had taught him a lot, made him find himself in a way after the fiasco two years ago. He didn't need to explain that much, though.

"Yes, I have. It's only just recently I've returned to Unova, however."

He stopped as they did, watching the kids pass by cheerfully. One kid had a little Pidove resting on his head. N chuckled at that, too, finding it funny that the bird Pokemon might be too lazy to follow along of her own energy.

"Where are you from originally?" he ventured, growing curious. "It must be challenging to travel as you are."

He hoped that wouldn't come out offensive N just couldn't think of how he'd be able to handle being blind and traveling. Then again he had had his sight all of his life, as well. Shia seemed to handle it well but he was curious now. He wanted to know about how she fared out there with her Pokemon.

N hummed in thought, head tipping to one side for a moment when she mentioned something 'crackling.' He strained his ears but heard nothing over the crowds around them. He almost shook it off before a look of understanding crossed over his face. That's right! Her other senses would have grown a little better over time to compensate! He coughed into his fist, a little embarrassed that he hadn't realized that right away.

"It could be," he answered, listening to her plans. "I suppose it would be, wouldn't it?"

He shook his head. If that was the case he wondered how long she had been her. Casting a glance her and Mienshao's way he mulled it over before he asked just that, "How long have you been in Nimbasa anyways?"

Surge wasn't sure how long he had run, Raichu at his side. It was a difficult thing to do. Six had barely managed to run herself. She looked as if she were in pain. She hadn't been hit, he was sure of it.

So why did she appear this way?

Surge scowled, coming to a walk half way across the city. The sounds of siren's let him know the police were already on the case at the bar. He shook his head at that. Whoever had attacked them might have been long gone at this point in time.

Reluctantly, he let go of Six's wrist. He cast a glance down toward his Raichu. The orange Pokemon stared at him as if willing him to give an answer Surge didn't have. Six had obviously left some very important details out, after all.

"So," he finally spoke up, breaking the silence between them. "You wanna tell me what's going on?"

If this was the reason she was seeking him out, he couldn't deny being intrigued. In fact, the sudden attack had caught his attention quicker than her begging him to take the job she had offered. If she had explained it before, maybe he would have considered it easier than.

He didn't dwell on it for long, instead folding his arms over his chest. Tilting his head slightly, he watched her carefully.

"You alright, kid?" he asked.

Her face still appeared contorted in some unknown pain and confusion. Or was it something else? Surge couldn't figure it out. A quick glance told him that she'd not been injured. So why look as if she was in pain?

He figured he'd find out eventually, if she'd explain the story to him.

---X---

Shia listened to him speak, wondering where he might have gone in his time away from Unova. She didn't pry on the subject however. That kind of thing, she'd long learned, could push people away. She had acted the same way, once upon a time ago.

"Ah, well, welcome back." she responded lightly. "Is it good to be home?"

She was aware she might have been asking quite a few questions. She couldn't stop herself however. It was easiest to learn about people this way; the way they spoke and how they thought. She couldn't see them, so she could only judge their actions and character through very small things.

"I was born here in Unova as well but my home is in Striaton City." She explained. She waved a dismissive hand, somehow knowing that he might have thought he'd offended her with his next statement. "It was difficult in the beginning. Trinity and I had to learn how to trust each other before we made any real progress. She was abandoned by some two bit, whiny trainer, so she didn't take well to me when I found her."

She heard Trinity scoff a little at that. Reaching out blindly, her hand found the top of the Pokemon's head. It only too her a moment to pet the Mienshao, reassure her in some way.

"We don't cross water." she further explained. "I don't like water. I can't swim. I suppose that's it though; knowing my limitations." She shot a soft smile in what she assumed was his direction, judging from where his voice was. "You don't have to feel uncomfortable though, kay? You're probably one of the first people in a long time to talk to me without worrying so much about my being blind. Just treat me like you'd treat anyone else."

Trinity gave a nod, cooing in his direction as if to further confirm the statement. That's how Shia liked it best, after all; seen as an equal.

Before she could really go on, she caught the sound of screams and a loud siren in the distance. She frowned at that. What was going on? That wasn't a 'normal' battle, from the sounds of it. At one point, a police car had driven by, the siren blaring so loud, she had to cover her ears and muffle the noise for a moment.

"That's not a normal battle." she commented, letting her hands fall back to her side. "Not with this much commotion..."

Six wasn't sure how long they ran, doing her best to steer her thoughts away, to distract herself from the pain. It was easier the farther away they got from the battle sight, away from any still-conscious injured Pokemon. And that was just it, guiltily Six had hoped more would have fallen unconscious or had been called back to pokeballs where she would no longer be able to feel what they did - a blessing as it were.

Instead she had stumbled blindly, lead only by the hand tugging her along. It was better this far out, away from them and she had to keep reminding herself that to hurt was to help as weird as it was. If she wasn't hurt the enemy wasn't and that thought alone left her feeling conflicted. Among other things, she hated it.

It wasn't until she heard his voice - Surge's voice, asking what she knew did she have something to focus on except the too warm air. Six would have preferred chilly air to suck in, to focus on and ignore the trembling in her hands and the dizziness that had yet to clear away. Was she swaying on her feet or was that just the dizziness? Six didn't know.

"Made me this way," she mumbled, trying to sufficiently answer but still unsure how, even now that there weren't any potential eavesdroppers. "W-wanna kill me... didn't do anything... ran away..."

She swallowed, feeling her Jolteon nudge her leg, could feel the concern and worry and it only made it worse after such an assault on her sense. Six groaned, swaying again and not noticing when her shoulder scraped along the brick surface nearby, clutching at her head.

too much can't think dizzy, make it go away i can't... can't think make it STOP

It had all been too much - too many Pokemon, too many feelings and all too conflicting and in too much of a quantity that she could handle all at once. Six shook her head helplessly, a moment passing before she even registered Surge's question and she could feel his Raichu's confusion and it poured into her and combated her Jolteon's worry and concern and her own dizziness and she just wanted it to stop.

- - - [x] - - -

N thought about it for a moment. Was it good to be back home? Really, he had come back because he had heard rumors of Plasma's return. In a way he supposed it was good to be back, to see the sights and what had changed.

"In a way it is," he finally answered.

He listened as she spoke, being polite. He didn't want to interrupt her and even listened intently when Mienshao spoke up albeit rarely. It fascinated him, the way they had bonded especially after Mienshao's past. It warmed his heart to know that a previously abandoned Pokemon had been able to find a friend in a human and to be treated properly.

He couldn't help but chuckle at the mention of avoiding water. N could definitely understand why she would! "I suppose water would be a natural enemy for you, wouldn't it?" he mentioned lightly. "I'll be sure to do so."

Their conversation was ground to a halt at the sounds of the sirens and a frown marred his lips. N nodded in answer to Shia before remembering that she wouldn't be able to see it. Hastily he said, "No, it's not."

He paused, his eyes drifting towards the direction of the noises. He had a burning desire to go see what was the problem, see if Plasma was at it as he had heard from old Plasma followers that had followed his example and not his father's.

N spared a fleeting look to Shia and Mienshao. "I don't know about you but I'd feel better if we checked that out," he mentioned. He trailed off, however, wondering if she'd follow after or part ways earlier than she planned.

Surge watched the woman sway, her breaths coming in ragged gasps. Whatever had happened, it seemed to be effecting her inwardly. Surge wasn't sure how but it was all he could really assume at this point. She took her time trying to speak up. Being further away from the trouble, he allowed it.

His brows furrowed as she spoke. It wasn't making much sense to him. She was made to feel pain in some way? In what way? How was she feeling this pain, why was she made to feel it? She didn't go on with the explanation, only explained that she could quite possibly be killed over it.

He shook his head, reaching for a pokeball attached to his belt. He didn't normally use this Pokemon. It drew too much attention. That might have been a ill choice here. There were too many people in this city.

He didn't see any other way out, however.

Heaving a heavy sigh, he called out Raikou. The large legendary Pokemon shook himself, glancing at Surge before his eyes drifted to the strangers. A low growl emitted from his throat before Surge waved him off.

"You need to get away?" he inquired as he moved closer toward Six. He easily picked her up, placing her on the Pokemon's back. He called Raichu back a moment later. The Jolteon, he simply scooped up as well, ignoring any protests. After he was sure everyone was secure, he got on Raikou as well. "We'll go."

Digging his heels lightly into the legendary Pokemon's sides, the Pokemon began to run, moving swiftly and easily through the crowds. Surge had no real destination in mind. He would simply get her away from the area, hoping that it would help.

He had his questions, after all, and he wanted answers.

---X---

Trinity glanced up toward Shia, taking in her expression. She was frowning as if deciding what option might be best. She could be reckless, if only to prove herself. With this trainer named N, she had no need to really prove anything. He simply accepted her, despite asking how she managed to move about blind.

"I'll go with you," she finally responded. "I want to know what's happening."

Shia dug for a Pokeball in her pocket. When she found the correct on, only indicated by the feeling of the object, she tugged it out. She released one of her other Pokemon, a Cofagrigus.

"Heeey Zion," she started. "There's some trouble somewhere not far from here. Could you slip on ahead and see what's going on? Keep out of sight though, just in case."

She gained a quiet response from the large ghost Pokemon before Zion disappeared into thin air. Shia reached out to Trinity, grabbing onto the Pokemon's paw.

"Let's go, let's go." she announced, a small smile on her lips.

Trinity began to move, her smaller body pulling Shia the correct way. She knew that N would be following after them. His footsteps were rushed, just like her own, and she picked them out among the crowd.

The closer they got, the harder it was to push through people however. Most seemed rather content to crowd around the area, watching from a distance. Shia wasn't sure what the fuss was about but it must have been something big.

When Trinity came to a halt, Shia did as well. The Pokemon cooed up at her, having pulled her into a more open area. The thick scent of smoke hit her. Shia scrunched her nose, disliking the strong smell.

"What do you see?" she inquired toward N. "What happened?"

She could only assume, paint a picture in her head. From the sounds and smells, it hadn't been good.

Six didn't look up, still trying to focus. But they were still there, out there and she could feel their anger at having the target escape - even their Pokemon were angry about this? That left her rattled. Just taking out the trainers wouldn't be enough if the Pokemon were up in arms about it to. But more than that they were still injured, at the edge of the range in which she could feel all Pokemon, and though it was dulled with distance it wasn't quite enough, not after such a sudden onslaught.

She barely heard Surge's question, still focusing on just focusing, still calming herself. When it made its way through her skull she nodded furiously, not trusting herself to talk again just yet.

Six wasn't sure what Pokemon it was, her eyes still screwed shut but it was annoyed, the feeling simmering and only placated by whatever Surge did or said and Jolteon was wary and again that strange sensation of her body tensing in response to another creature's agitation and wariness affected her.

She hadn't expected to be picked up and placed on top of the Pokemon, however. This was enough to shock her out of the Pokemon's emotions, snapping her back into her own proper feelings though the Pokemon's were still there, picking at her thoughts and reactions. Jolteon's shock doubled hers briefly - "Jolt?!" - before she was able to ignore it, twisting her hand into the yellow and black fur - peeking her eyes open just long enough to catch a glimpse of the Pokemon.

The Pokemon was quick and she could feel the Pokemon out there festering with anger that was directed at her and their pain from nursed injuries ebbing way as the distance grew longer and only then was she able to really start to focus, their presence withdrawn from hers. Her hands still shook and her head buzzed with the after effects but it was better now than it had been minutes ago.

It was only then that Six realized that at some point she had leaned back against Surge to stop herself from sliding off on either side.

- - - [x] - - -

N nodded, quickly correcting the action by saying, "Right!"

He was halted from moving even a step further when she reached for a pokeball, summoning a Confagrigus. He watched, curious as to what she was up to as the two interacted and then it was gone in thin air. He shook his head, unsure of what to make of that.

"I wouldn't have pegged you as one to like Confagrigus," he noted as they took off.

N made sure not to move too quickly, aware that she still had to rely on Mienshao to get by. It still didn't take them too long to get where they needed to be. N grunted, frustrated at having to all but shove his way through the crowds. Occasionally he'd glance at Shia, make sure she was still there.

When they stopped N shook his head. There was smoke rising up from what once was a bar, some part of it having burnt down and firemen and their water type Pokemon were already killing the remaining fires that burned around it. Windows were broken, glass glittering in the light that it caught. N wasn't sure what had started this but it definitely wasn't the scene of a friendly Pokemon battle.

"There's a lot of damage - some fire and there's a good half of the building just gone," he answered, rubbing his hand over his chin. "This looks like the work of those Plasma members that've come back."

He was positive about that. He had seen them in action once or twice since arriving and those still loyal to N made sure to tell him about what they were up to this time around. N's jaw clenched at the thought of how many Pokemon might have been badly injured out of this situation.

Only when they were long outside the city did Surge order Raikou to a stop. Woods stretched as far as the eye could see, providing some form of cover. They wouldn't be able to stay here for long but for the moment, it would give her time to recover.

He was careful when he slipped off the Pokemon, steadying Six. He lifted her off, placing her on her feet. When he was sure she could manage on her own, his hands left her shoulders.

Surge frowned, unsure of what to make of the situation. He glanced down at the Jolteon. "Don't suppose you'd know what to do."

He only received an indigent snort in response.Surge shook his head slightly at that. It wasn't like he could talk to these Pokemon. He couldn't understand. Six wasn't providing him with many answers as it was.

"Raikou," he started. "Scout the area, make sure no ones around. If there's anyone suspicious, come back and let me know."

With that order given the Pokemon leapt off, disappearing into the foliage. Surge heaved a heavy sigh, rubbing the back of his neck. What was he meant to do? He wasn't even going to take his job; it was rather thrust upon him.

"So, you able to tell me anything more yet?" he pressed. "Or do you need to sit down for a while?"

He couldn't be sure of anything with this woman yet. She was shaken, hurt in some way. The answer she had provided hadn't been much to go on. He needed the whole story. There was a burning curiosity deep in him, after all. He wanted to know what happened.

For the moment, he would simply have to wait and see what came of her condition.

---X---

Shia could only smile at the mention of Zion. She had quite a few odd Pokemon, ones that most trainers didn't typically use. She liked her odd ball Pokemon quite a bit and was rather proud of them.

She hummed lightly in response to the description. She didn't care to hear water Pokemon so closely to her but she knew that they wouldn't be turning their water gun on them. They were focused on the fire or what was left of it.

"These Plasma people," she began carefully, turning her head toward where she assumed N was slightly. "I heard they broke up two years ago. Why the sudden reappearance?"

She was genuinely curious about it. They had failed in whatever plans they had two years ago. What made them think that they could so easily succeed again? What were they doing? It was obvious they were now not afraid to attack others openly but what purpose did it serve.

Shia lifted her head, Zion's cry reaching her ears. The Pokemon had reappeared, holding something in one of his four hands. He carefully placed it in Shia's palm, the blind girl only able to feel a fabric.

"What is is?" she inquired, unsure of what to make of it. "It feels like a patch?"

It took a moment but she traced a 'P' with her thumb on the patch before blindly sticking her hand out for N to take it.

"I don't suppose you'd know what it is?" she pressed.

She cringed slightly when an ambulance left the area, it's siren blaring loudly, warning bystanders and those on the roads. If these 'Plasma' people were truly returning to cause trouble, they'd certainly done a number. Both people and Pokemon had been hurt in the cross fire. Shia frowned a little at that.

"You alright, N?"

She could feel frustration ebbing off of him. She couldn't blame him. It was quite an unsettling situation.

She wouldn't admit it out loud but Six was rather grateful for the help off of Raikou. She was pretty sure that if she'd tried to slide off on her own right now she would have probably just toppled right over on the ground. As she steadied herself, sucking in deep breaths and calming the buzzing in her head and the trembling in her hands she heard Surge talk to her Jolteon and the snort he got in return.

She hummed a few bars of "I'd Come For You" in retaliation to her little Pokemon's indignation, not allowing it to make her body react as it was wont to do. Despite what she knew her body couldn't often distinguish her own feelings from those that she felt from the Pokemon. It left her in less desirable states such as it was now despite Six's best efforts.

As Surge busied himself with direction Raikou to scout around them Six carefully sat herself down, rubbing her temples. Her Jolteon was quick to trot to her side, rubbing his bristly body against her side reassuringly.

"I..." she paused, unsure how to start. Six peered up at Surge, focusing on him - on his face so as to ignore the wild Pokemon she could feel in the area as they went about their daily lives. With something to distract her and prepared to feel what she did now it was a little easier to gather her disjointed thoughts.

"It would be easier if you ask about what you want to know," she answered slowly, picking her words carefully. "At least for now."

"Jolt," agreed the little yellow and white Pokemon, sitting himself down next to his trainer attentively. His ears flickered with each movement nearby but other than that he remained there, ready for any sort of protection or comfort his trainer might need from him.

N shook his head again without thinking about it. He wasn't sure why they'd arisen again now. Perhaps his father had come up with another plan, something more foolproof than N had been. He could just taste the disdain at that very thought and he pushed it away as soon as it had come.

"I can't be certain," he answered truthfully.

Those still loyal to N had dropped immediately out of Plasma's ranks and had started doing good around Unova. While he was proud about this it left them with no way of knowing what the new Team Plasma's plans were. N wouldn't ask any of those ex-members who had followed his example to go against their beliefs and force them to play double agent.

His attention turned to Confagrigus as he arrived, handing over a patch to Shia. N swallowed the lump that rose in his throat. It was a very familiar emblem that Shia was now running her fingers over. He didn't even need to take it to be able to answer her when questioned about it.

His jaw was tight and he felt a dull anger burning in his chest at this. "That would be a patch off of a Team Plasma uniform."

N found he couldn't answer her next question. He wasn't even sure he was alright now. No, not with this new situation at hand. He ran his hand over his face, sucking in a deep breath to steady his nerves. After a moment N lifted his head, turning to her ghost Pokemon.

"Zion, was it? Would you be able to tell me what you saw inside? Was there anything else that might indicate they would have a reason to do this?"

Surge had glanced around the area carefully. Everything seemed quiet for the time. He ran a hand through his hair, wondering how long that peace would last. A moment later, he shook his head. There was no point in worrying over it all now.

When Six finally spoke up, a little shaky at first, he glanced down at her. He frowned at her words. To him, it should have been obvious what he wanted to know. She obviously had a story.

"Your story, that's what I'd like to hear." he responded.

Shifting is weight from one leg to the other, he crossed his arms over his chest. He watched her expression carefully.

Surge wasn't one for too much compassion; especially in a situation like this. He had no intention on helping her yet he'd gotten pulled in. Wrong place at the wrong time, he figured. It just wasn't shaping up to be his day.

"Who were those goons too." he pressed. "Why are they so intent on killing you?"

Surge figured that was a start in the very least. She had time to think things through. It was clear for the moment. Unless Raikou alerted them to danger, he could sit and wait for an explanation from the young woman in front of him.

---X---

Shia frowned at his answer, pocketing the patch for a later time. She didn't know what she'd do with it. It was simply going to remain hidden for a while, unless it was needed.

She didn't quite care for the emotions rolling off of N. She had to wonder if he had some sort of history with Plasma. If that was the case, it was no wonder he was feeling so strongly with their reappearance.

"This is quite the mess." she stated simply.

Finding Trinity, she kept a hand at the Mienshao's paw. If there would be any case of needing to run, she knew that Trinity would alert her. The Mienshao always did.

She listened to N direct a question toward Zion. Why would he ask something like that? Could he understand him? Was it that simply? Shia tried not to read too much into it. She could only assume at this point.

Shia heard a low hum leave Zion, a language she could not really understand. She paused, wondering what the Pokemon was attempting to convey. She turned her head a little, hoping that she had 'looked' in the right direction.

"What did he say?" she inquired, as if he might be able to convey the words. "You can...understand him right? You wouldn't have asked if you couldn't."

It was all an assumption to Shia and she hoped that she wasn't coming off as 'odd' in his view.

Six could only stare up at Surge for a moment or two. Story? The story stretched out for as long as she could remember, it as too long to explain it all. So instead she sat quietly, waiting for him to elaborate, to pick a starting point.

After a moment he spoke up again, picking something that she could answer, to start with. Those were easy questions and didn't require much thought put into them. That was good because a Pokemon nearby was getting chased by its predator and its panic was hard to ignore if she didn't keep her mind focused on something.

"Plasma - they're Team Plasma," she started, her voice still shaky to ear her ears. Six paused, exhaling and attempting to steady herself. At least that predator Pokemon's confidence was something that she could used to draw from at the moment.

"I was... an investment. But I'm a failed investment. They were going to kill me so I... escaped."

That was the easiest way to put it. In reality it hadn't been so simple, lives had been lost anyways in her mad dash for that escape with the help of her Pokemon. That had been a few months ago, the memories still rather fresh. She met Surge's gaze with her own.

"You didn't ask the most obvious question," she pointed out quietly. In fact she had been prepared for him to ask about her odd behavior when the Pokemon battle had started. Beside her Jolteon's ear flickered and he turned briefly to nudge her arm with his nose reassuringly.

- - - [x] - - -

N had grunted when she pocketed the patch. It served no significance to keep it but he wouldn't stop her. She might just want it to ponder over later, after all. He couldn't begrudge her that if that was the case.

He felt his brow furrow when she spoke up again, question after question tumbling from her mouth. N had to focus hard on Confagrigus and what he was saying while she did so. He felt the questions were a little unnecessary. As she had pointed out, he wouldn't have asked the Pokemon if he couldn't understand him.

N felt a weight settle on his chest at the news. Plasma had been after some sort of an experiment of theirs that had gotten loose? But what kind of experiment? And was it dangerous? He shook his head, unable to see the bigger picture.

"Thank you," he answered, inclining his head briefly to the Confagrigus.

He paused, mulling it over for a moment before his attention was on Shia and Mienshao. While her Mienshao would be up to speed Shia would not, unable to truly understand them as he could.

"Zion has said that Team Plasma had been here after one of their escaped experiments but it had gotten away." He paused, brow furrowing for a moment in thought. "I can't imagine what they might have let out of the grasp but I'd rather not lose this trail if it's something important."

Surge listened to her words when she finally managed to settle herself down enough to talk. He raised an eyebrow, unsure of what to make of what she said. A failed experiment created by Team Plasma? He'd only briefly heard of the team at the tail end of their 'reign', so to speak.

So they were at it again? This time toying with lives, in a more personal way than anyone could imagine.

He grunted in response, glancing around the area again. It remained quiet for a few moments while he mulled the answer over.

From what she had said, it was no wonder she was seeking out protection. He hadn't heard of an 'experimentation' going on since Team Rocket, and that had been on Pokemon alone. There were some human test subjects but that was normally on their own accord.

He rubbed the back of his neck, his gaze falling back onto her when she spoke up again. He had to think about what she meant for a moment before it hit him

"The pain you were in," he finally responded. "I'm guessing that has something to do with this...experiment? What was it, then?"

It was a guess at this point, though, he figured that might have been the case. There wouldn't have been any other reason, in his view, for it to simply be faked. Whatever Plasma had tried to create, it must have had massive effects on her body; something that she couldn't quite handle.

He shook his head at that thought, frowning.

---X---

Shia lowered her head slightly, waiting quietly for them to finish. Whatever was being said, she could only wish to understand some day. The quiet that followed, or as quiet as it could be among joined voices, people discussing what happened; left her rather antsy.

The explanation that finally came had been short and to the point. She hummed in response, unsure of what to say or even make of the issue at hand. An experiment had been loose, it came to Nimbasa, and Plasma had tried to get it back. It seemed rather straight forward to her. What more could be done.

"You've some vendetta against them?" she pressed.

She heard Trinity coo at her as if not to push too much. At times, she forgot another's emotions and could easily hurt them. She was a little too curious for her own good.

"Zion," she called to the Pokemon again. "If you could search out anything else for N, please?"

It only took a moment for the large Pokemon to agree, disappearing once again. She wasn't sure if she could provide any assistance or if he'd even allow it. The danger was obvious and most wouldn't bother risking it. She found she very much liked N though, and wanted to help if she could.

"Someone had to have seen something more," she stated with a slight smile. "We can split up and ask around, if that will help."

Shia wondered what he'd think of that. She didn't dwell on it long, simply waiting for an answer in return.

In the quiet that followed as he took in her short answer Six took to watching him, reaching out to thread her fingers into her Jolteon's fur. He had been there through it all with her and thought it oftentimes left her frustrated about the fact that everything he felt she felt she loved the Pokemon dearly.

She waited patiently, in no rush now. She hummed another few bars of the song "Still Breathing" when she felt the combined triumph of that predator Pokemon out there capturing its prey with the panic of that very prey. It was sickening, conflicting and if she concentrated on it Six would get dizzy again as her body fought to react appropriately to what it felt. So instead she took to humming and singing under her breath when she had any foresight of something like that happening.

It helped to 'muffle' what was to come.

Her head cocked to the side, thinking back to all the things she'd heard them all say about her condition.

"Apparently," she finally started after a long moment passed. "I was really in tune with Pokemon and how they felt as a kid so they 'took me in.' They wanted to see if I could talk to Pokemon like people do with each other - to understand them like... like their 'king.'"

She paused, eyes closing for a moment, rocking back without really realizing that she was doing so. The panic had ebbed away over the time that passed - another Pokemon lost to the world. Six had no delusions that it was simply unconscious, though.

"But I can't. I'm different in a way that they didn't need - I can feel what Pokemon feel." She paused, her head cocking to the side. That Raikou of his had quite an attitude if that agitation it was still feeling over this situation was any indication. Her frown deepened at this and she glanced off in the direction that she could sense it was in now. "Your Raikou is quite frustrated running circles right now."

- - - [x] - - -

N wasn't sure what was best to answer her question with. He couldn't deny that he wasn't being very subtle. He shook his head. Now wasn't really the time to be worrying about things like that.

"Something of the sort," he muttered in reply, casting a glance around at those nearest them. None of them were paying their conversation any mind and this was how N preferred it. He didn't need to worry about people eavesdropping on them.

Gratitude bloomed in his chest when Shia asked Confagrigus to go seek out more clues if he could. She seemed intent on helping him and N found it a nice change of pace after two years of traveling and working alone more times than not.

Nearby the fires had been put out, the firemen pulling along out of the way when they were sure they were no longer needed. Their Pokemon looked grim, covered in bits of soot that had drifted over their forms. N drew his attention away from them and back to Shia and Mienshao.

"I suppose that would be the best plan," he relented, a little unsure about it. He glanced to Mienshao, a thoughtful frown in place on his lips. He was silent for a moment or two before he would speak up again.

"Why don't we meet up at that street corner?" he offered, gesturing for Mienshao to see. He was well aware that Shia would not see it but he hoped that she wouldn't take it to mean that he had forgotten about her blindness. "That way you won't have to come find me in the crowds again."

Surge narrowed his eyes slightly with the newest explanation. He had little reason not to believe her. It was a bit of a stretch however. There were some people who trained their entire lives to understand their Pokemon. Even than, communication was typically stretched to one type and no others.

The way she had explained it, she was somehow born with this ability. People like this actually existed? It didn't help that she had even mentioned another; someone who could understand Pokemon completely.

"That's quite a story," he finally responded.

He heaved a heavy sigh, feeling a great need to pace. Surge kept that need under wraps for the moment, remaining quiet as he pondered their options.

Surge blinked when she spoke up again, lifting his head. His hand dropped back to his side. Glancing around the area, he didn't see the large legendary in sight. He raised an eyebrow.

"He's always agitated about something," he responded. "Isn't the trusting type. Little things set him off."

No one had known that but him. At first appearance, the Pokemon would appear just that - agitated and remarking everything as a threat. He didn't have Raikou out and moving about enough for others to realize that the legendary always had that bull headed attitude.

"So I guess you're not lying then," he grunted. "Well...Can't say you haven't caught my interest now. What do you need done?"

It seemed he'd been dragged into this fiasco anyways. The least he could do with give the girl some help.

---X---

Shia couldn't help but allow a grin to spread across her lips. She'd honestly been scared that he'd turn her help down. There were many who would have insisted she'd sit something like this out; make her return to a safer place.

She couldn't deny knowing the reason why but it didn't please her all the same.

When N spoke to Trinity, she heard the Pokemon shift, turning to find the area he had pointed out. She cooed to confirm she understood where they were to meet and gave a slight nod in a silent response. Shia was quite glad that things were moving along so quickly.

"We'll meet you there in about an hour, give or take." Shia announced, nodding herself.

With that said, she grabbed onto Shia's paw and walked off. The hour would be a long one, dealing with people who had no information or those who simply didn't want to speak up about it again. She wouldn't have guessed hunting down clues about these people would be so difficult.

Shia tried not to let it get to her, however. She dealt with these kinds of attitudes all of the time. If she could manage to grab some form of information, she was happy.

Six waited, allowing what she said to sink in. It wasn't like it was something that was easily believed. In fact for the first few years she had been a lab rat for those people they had been unimpressed, her ability not yet as prominent as it was now. In a way, Six missed those days. At least then things like Pokemon battles didn't leave her nearly crippled if she didn't take great pains not to concentrate, to force herself to separate what she was really feeling from what was just feedback from the Pokemon in her distressingly large range.

She hummed in agreement. At least he wasn't calling her a liar. In fact, part of that had been why she had been so hesitant to say anything back at that bar. Too many people but she didn't want to be cast aside so simply because she sounded crazy.

Her fingers idly began to scratch at her Jolteon. It was merely something to keep her busy and at least she could focus on the Pokemon's contentment at this. At least not everything she could feel from Pokemon ended up badly.

She blinked up at Surge, her movements a little sluggish, stiff. All of that input, the conflicting feelings and the subsided dizziness left her feeling drained. Six did her best not to let that bother her but it was hard sometimes.

"I need someone to act as a bodyguard -" again her nose wrinkled a little in detest at needing help, "- while I find a way to take them out."

It was a tall order, she was aware. But she needed the help. While she was concentrating, staying focused it was hard to sneak up on her when Plasma relied on their Pokemon to track her. Their Pokemon's feelings were distinct and besides, the more she knew a Pokemon the more in tune she was with its feelings, just as any trainer was. But she couldn't stay focused forever. She had to sleep and that left her vulnerable. Besides, she couldn't end up in a long string of battles on her own or potentially be overwhelmed....

She had no other choice but to rely on someone, someone strong enough to be a hindrance to Plasma.

- - - [x] - - -

"I'll be here," N nodded, taking off in the other direction.

He had to push past people, seeking out those that looked as if they knew something. Some were easier to find than others. N wasn't one who found it easy to read other people, however, and he blundered quite a bit at the task.

He was sure he had talked to no less than six people by the time he managed to get any information on the situation. By that time some of the crowd had thinned out, many growing bored or had some appointment to take care of. N was unbothered by this. If they left it left less people for him to have to figure out if they knew anything or not.

He frowned thoughtfully. It sounded like things had gotten confusing fast. Whatever Plasma had been after had been gone in a hurry and they knew it. At least, that's what one man said who couldn't even begin to tell N just what Plasma had been after.

Fruitlessly he found another and then another. For an afternoon the bar had quite a crowd in it but N could only assume it was because it was a Saturday. Or at least he hoped that was the reason.

"Can't be sure but it looked like when that red-eyed girl had split with that guy she'd been waitin' around for for weeks is when those punks got really nasty," shrugged the current guy that N had begun to question.

N felt his brow raise. A girl? Plasma was after a girl? Just what was so special about her? Was she another that Ghetsis had taken in but hidden away, done something to? It had been an experiment that the Plasma members were after, if it was this red-eyed girl than what had Plasma done to her?

"And no one knows where she's gone off to?" N pried.

"'Fraid not."

N shook his head, glancing up at the sky. He'd probably end up back at the meeting spot soon at this rate. It didn't seem like there was much information or perhaps N just didn't know which people to talk to to find what he needed.

Surge glanced her way again when she finally spoke up. It seemed a regular pattern, lengthy points of silences before she would talk again. It wasn't like he minded or could do much about it. Six obviously had reasons to be this way.

He hummed in response, mulling her words over. She believed in some way, she could take these people out. From where he stood, she had struggled way too much through a simple ambush. Surge wasn't sure if she could even manage to do what she had planned.

"You know that might not work," he answered. "You could hardly stand on your own two feet back there. How do you expect to take these people out?"

It was a legitimate question, he felt. She was frail, probably more so than she liked to admit. It wouldn't be as simple as she said. Most things were, however. Everything was easier said than done.

Finally, Surge heaved a heavy sigh. "I'll act as your...body guard." he responded. "But only because I'm interested in this Plasma business."

In a way, Surge felt a pang of frustration run through him. He'd been away from home a long time but it was still his home. The thought of someone trying to take it over, abuse it, angered him. No less, toying with people's lives only made it a worse offense.

"I don't know how you expect to take these people out, but I'll do you this one favor." he plowed on. "At least there's a common goal now."

---X---

Trinity had lead Shia about the area, now a little more thinned out with people. There was nothing more to see so why stick around? Shia hoped that she could at least gain some form of information.

She wasn't sure why she felt so compelled to help N. It wasn't like she knew him well or owed him any favors. Perhaps it was simply the kind act he'd shown her in a whole. She didn't try to dwell on it too much.

From one person to the next, Shia stopped anyone that Trinity could lead her to. There were constant rumors floating about. One said that he'd seen the brief battle, a large blond in camou jacket had fled with a girl. Another said she had caught sight of a large, yellow Pokemon she'd never seen in the region before.

Shia couldn't even begin to wonder what kind of Pokemon that was. It wasn't like she could see them to identify them normally.

Regardless of the answers, she took them as something rather than nothing at all. Maybe N could decipher what the woman had meant on a 'large yellow Pokemon' that she'd seen. She hoped as such.

With that done, she decided to head back to the meeting place early, no longer getting any new answers out of people. Trinity guided her a long carefully and within a short time, they were waiting at the street corner. Shia rocked back and forth on her heels, wondering if N had fared any better than she did.

Six was left un-bothered by the doubt that flitted over Surge's face and the way he all but said it was pretty unrealistic that she'd be able to do much. In fact, while it was difficult at times if she paid attention and knew what to expect Six could handle things fairly well. Then again, Surge hadn't been able to see that aspect.

"Well, if I knew how to do that I wouldn't need you, now would I?" she answered in a matter-of-fact way, pushing herself back up onto her feet. The dizziness had subsided and she no longer felt in danger of just toppling right over.

Only when she was standing did she speak up again. "If I pay attention to what's in my range they can't sneak up on me. If I know there's a battle about to happen then I can brace myself but," she paused and despite herself her lower lip jutted out in an indignant pout. "- you were so intent on not listening that I got hung up on that!"

She shook her head, dropping the subject as soon as it had tumbled out of her. Instead Six peered off to the side again, filtering through it all. It was amazing how many Pokemon resided in one area. It wasn't long until she found what she was looking for. Briefly her jaw clenched at the aggravation of whatever Pokemon they were using as it filled her before she shook it off. It had been brief, a light touch and considering the distance easier to ignore. not mine someone else's its theirs let them keep it it's not mine

"Their Pokemon aren't happy," she noted out of the blue "They're farther off but getting a little closer."

Her Jolteon called out, shaking himself once he was on his feet and ready to move. Only then did Six turn back to Surge, smiling despite the situation. "You should probably call your Raikou back so we can start moving."

They were combing the forests for them, that much was clear to figure out. While it usually left her agitated, left Six feeling emotions that weren't her own Six had to admit that with people that relied so much on their Pokemon seeking her out it made it easier to stay one step ahead of any pursuers.

- - - [x] - - -

N shook his head, pushing past the last throng of people. Glancing up he was glad to see that Shia and Mienshao were already there. At least they didn't seem to have any trouble and for that N was grateful. He trotted up to them, nodding in greeting to the Pokemon.

"Did you hear anything?" he questioned once he was close enough.

He would wait, well aware that whoever Plasma had been after had quite a head start now. N could only hope that they would be able to pick up on clues, to follow after if he was able to. Would Shia follow after? N couldn't be sure but he wouldn't force her if she chose not to.

Only after they answered would he speak up, shaking his head. It seemed like everyone had a piece of the story but they couldn't gather them all. It left N feeling frustrated thought he did his best not to show it.

"All I heard was that they were after some red-eyed girl," he told them, shaking his head.

Granted, red eyes didn't seem all that common. N could only remember seeing a handful of other people in his lifetime that had that eye color but it was such a vague description to go on. They needed something more concrete.
