Character [Art]Work: Beryl & Blaire

Subject: Character [Art]Work: Beryl & Blaire Tue Feb 11, 2014 6:32 pm

I've been working more and more with Illustrator with my artwork, scanning sketches onto the Mac before finishing and polishing them up on the program. I still have a long way to go, I'm a little sloppy due to laziness in spots but I figure I'd show the two recent images I've finished.

On the left is a character Canned will be familiar with, my Mass Effect OC, Beryl King. I toyed with a simplistic background with hers, just to fill in blank space. I need to get into the swing of making backgrounds in a whole.

On the right is Blaire, the character who will be starring as my OT in the nuzlocke-themed fics Oki and I are writing.

So, what does everyone think? Any constructive criticism? Thoughts?

Oh, I think they're adorable! I do like the shading for them both~. They really came out cute~.

I don't know a lot about about it, so I don't know if I could offer a lot in ways of criticism honestly. Digital art has always been difficult for me to do in terms of drawing/shading.

This is really good! Better than what I can do. I struggle with outlining and coloring when drawing digitally sometimes. ;;;

As for advice, I can't really offer anything since everything to me looks really amazing. c:

My shading still seems off to me, mostly on Blaire's skin. I suppose that'll be something I'll keep trying to perfect it as I go.

Thank you. I struggle with getting my shading to line up with the base colors myself, mostly because masking or using path layers on Illustrator never works out half as well for me as it does everyone else!

Aw, Beryl looks adorable! That is the look of a hardened killer, I love it~

Overall you've come a long way, Fang! You've certainly developed a nice style and your shading is lovely!

Oh, totally! If the killer ain't grinnin' something's wrong!

I'm glad everyone likes the style, I'm pretty partial for it myself and intend to keep using it and perhaps honing it towards something to call my own.
