Was she smiling? Mohammad thought she must be, given the light tone of voice. He didn’t dwell too much on it as she neared and sat beside him. It was nice to sit like this but he couldn’t help but feel it would be nicer when things settled. For now he would take what he could get however.

“We can at least take solace in the small things,” he agreed, his voice soft. The last thing they needed was to be overheard by a stray enemy wandering past. Mohammad would keep an ear out, just in case.

He glanced towards her then, able to make out her form through the little light that filtered through the makeshift doorway. He reached out to gently touch his fingers to hers. It felt natural to sit with her like this, despite the circumstances; he only hoped she felt the same.

Silence reigned for several long minutes though Mohammad did not mind. Perhaps it was best this way, allowing for thoughts to be sorted out. Then again there would be plenty of time for that, if what happened went about as they thought it might. He shook his head. No time for dwelling on that. They could only wait and find out now.

A sigh passed his lips then, head tipped back against the rough rock. This was better than nothing, he reminded himself.

----[x]----

Ayasha had long since given up wondering how Hao seemed to know exactly what was on her mind. Shamans had all sorts of odd abilities, many that she and Kalila had never even known about before the Shaman Tournament. With that in mind, who was to say that Hao had one such ability?

She peeked up at Hao through her bangs at him, still flustered. She was forward, yes, but never in situations like this. A sigh escaped her though not one of despair or exasperation.

“Sh-shush! Saying such embarrassing things again!” she answered, her face hot. It never seemed to matter how many times Hao said those things, each time it caused her heart to swell with warmth and her face to grow red. Still, Hao did sound earnest about it.

A pout adorned her expression as she attempted to cool her face—the chilly air only did so much. She trusted Hao despite what worries clouded her mind at times. She wasn’t sure what Maska thought of it all however. The old ram was intent on keeping thoughts to himself though Muna and Tawa, the little lambs that they were, just seemed curious. She huffed, burying her face into Hao’s shoulder, hiding it away fro the time being, at least, until it cooled anyways.

“Dummy,” she muttered, further muffled by his poncho.

For a moment, she wondered how long it would take before peace really settled in this world. They knew what was to come but everyone else? Humanity would be in for a rude awakening and it was already way too late to save themselves. In that regard, she was sad. Not all of them were bad.

"Things will look up eventually," she assured. She wasn't sure if that was true or not. Kalila simply wanted to remain optimistic if it were possible.

Silence overtook the conversation. They both needed to clear their heads. The only way to do that was to sit back and try to relaxing. There was no noise outside apart from the sound of wind on occasion. At least that was a relied.

His fingers brushed against her own. For a moment, her heart leapt into her throat, beating hard against her chest. This was how things were supposed to feel.

Kalila laid her hand over his own, hesitantly at first, and remained there. His was warm against her own. The feelings somewhat overwhelmed her. They were pleasant however, more than she could ever want.

---- [ x ] ----

Hao chuckled lightly. He expected such a response. He said what he meant. Whatever she thought was rather cute. In a sense, seeing her ruffled just a little was amusing. He no longer pushed her buttons malicious way. Now he merely teased her.

"It would be no fun if you didn't react to embarrassing things," he teased in response, "And you know I mean what I say regardless."

Ayasha buried her face into his shoulder. She remained there, perhaps trying to hide red face. For only a moment, he worried about the blood that rushed to her face so quickly. No doubt she had to be dizzy. When he knew she wasn't under the threat of fainting, he left it be.

"Come now, I know you very well love it," he teased further.

It should have been odd, speaking in such a manner when the worlds end was nearing. For Hao, the world had ended long ago. Perhaps that was why he spoke so lightly despite the carnage he would bring forth.

It only took her a second to place her hand overtop his once he’d reached out to hers. Mohammad spared her a small smile, hidden in the dark though it was.  He saw no need to move his from under hers, warm as hers was. Her palm was smooth to the touch, so unlike his calloused ones.

The silence between them was not unwelcome, allowing for the time to sort out their thoughts. It also made it easier to hear any who might approach their hiding spot. There was no time to grow too lax, even in the darkness like this.

How much time did they spend like this? He had no way of knowing. Perhaps it was best that way. Allowing themselves the time to gather their bearings, away from any squabbling and potential threats… It would only do them wonders later on, of that much he was sure. Besides, if it meant Kalila remained at ease and relaxed then Mohammad would content himself as such.

Many thoughts whirled through his mind. Mostly they were focused on what to expect in the coming days and how to go about the new world once it as all said and done. He supposed in the end it was only something that could be done as it needed to be.

----[x]----

She couldn’t deny that Hao wasn’t lying when he said those things. It had been a quick observation that Hao never said things that he saw as untrue. He might not tell the whole story but he did not outright lie. It was that reminder that caused her heart to flutter in response.

“Rude,” she accused. Still… “I know you do though.”

A huff escaped her again though she did not answer that prod further. The silence that followed left Ayasha to her thoughts. It would seem all too long before they reached Japan, leaving her to her thoughts. She couldn’t fathom how Hao could remain so calm and content with what was going to happen but maybe it was due to the fact that he intended to save nature in this way.

It would be like this that the rest of the travel to Japan would end up. Her own spirits were silent, perhaps just as anxious as their shaman as they rested, or perhaps merely wished to remain hidden, within their memorial tablets. If that helped them then Ayasha would not begrudge them their choice. If nothing else it left her to her own thoughts for the time.

Things were about to grow hectic after all. Television and internet were powerful things. Once Hao’s plan was enacted upon the first city word would spread like wildfire through those mediums.

Over the minutes that passed, Kalila's heart would settle a little. This should have been a little more strange to her, given the situation. For once, she felt comfortable with it. She didn't often grow close to others. A life of a drifter didn't make room for it. Now, maybe she'd consider the change.

For the most part, conversation was little. They favored listening though, there was little to hear. A bat or two fluttering about, the sound of wind, and the waves washing onto the nearby shore. The quiet left her to relax for the first time in months.

The adrenalin had long since left her system. She felt tired. After most days of fitful sleep, Kalila knew she was long overdue for a proper rest. Even so, she tried to fight off sleep for the longest time.

Eventually, she gave up on the endeavor, well aware that she was nodding off here and there. Kalila would be of no use unless she slept. She knew her ability was essential in keeping them alive.

Kalila allowed herself to close her eyes. Sleep would follow soon after, resting her head against Mohammed's shoulder.

---- [ x ] ----

Ayasha remained comfortable where she was at. Hao found he didn't mind. This closeness would not be shared often when he got to work. Best make up for lost time while they still had it.

Another soft chuckle left him as she spoke. The words were soft but still rang clear to him. At least he knew how she felt. That was the most important thing.

"Take the time to rest now if you need it," he informed after a few short minutes, "We've a tiring task ahead of us. Don't worry. I won't allow you to fall."

As if to show that this was true, he allowed himself to let go of her hand and instead, wrapped his arm around her waist. She would be safe there, pressed against his side. Even now, he knew that she was rather fond of it, if not awkward.

Only when she agreed did he turn his sights ahead once again. The first island would still take quite a bit of time to get to. For now, it would be best to relax while they still could. Ayasha would certainly need it.

She had fallen asleep after some time, leaning against him. Did she even realize she’d done so? Mohammad didn’t think so, not with the way she’d so timidly placed her hand atop his before. Her head resting against his shoulder was a weight he did not mind, her warmth combating the chilly, cavern air.

How much time did he spend like this with her slow breathing and the sounds of the breeze outside? There wasn’t a way to tell though Mohammad took it as a blessing. If for all of the worries and stress that fell upon them at Hao’s victory in the tournament there seemed to be just as many bright spots forming. He would hold onto them tightly in the coming days so as not to lose them.

Sleep would have been long welcome however Mohammad kept himself awake, if only to make sure they were safe. While Kalila and Valen’s ability had kept them hidden there was no guarantee someone wouldn’t stumble upon them or sense them. It would be best to remain cautious on the matter.

He glanced towards her again, seeing only the top of her head, the dim lighting gleaming off her hair. A sigh of contentment escaped him again. There were still moments like these in such worrying days it would seem. A blessing, really.

----[x]----

It was comforting, being pressed against Hao’s side. But would she be strong enough to push through what was to come? It was a thought that plagued her despite Hao’s reassurances. In the end she merely attempted to clear her mind, fingers tangled into that ever-present poncho of his. All she could do was to try and to see.

The time passed in this manner though whether or not it went quickly or all too slow Ayasha wasn’t sure. Still, Japan had appeared on the horizon quicker than she’d thought, perhaps due to being lost in those very thoughts. It had only been a short time after that in which Spirit of Fire reached his first destination.

A large city? No, that didn’t surprise Ayasha at all even as Spirit of Fire landed for them to clamber o the ground. Perhaps Hao wished for many to know of their coming demise, due to the lack of which they cared for the earth. Her grip on his poncho tightened briefly before she released the soft, worn fabric from her grasp to leap down. After so long sitting it was a relief to let her legs get a bit of a stretch.

Out of habit she reached for the trio of memorial tablets, the cool stone a relief. This seemed to be all that was needed to call upon Maska, his large form appearing from seemingly thin air at her side.

”So, it begins does it?” he rumbled, head dipped low in thought.

Ayasha’s hand brushed over his head; there wasn’t a need for an answer to that. Instead she turned to Hao. He would be the one to charge forth at any rate, she was merely there to aid any shamans who were in danger and did not wish to oppose him.

Kalila had slept deep, deeper than she could recall ever doing in a long time. She became aware of just how tired she really was. Kalila was glad that she went undisturbed. It was warm, comfortable, for the first time in a long time.

When she did rouse herself, she felt groggy. Kalila shifted, reaching up with her free hand to rub her eyes. The cave was still dark, maybe darker now. Had night fallen or was it merely early evening?

She glanced at Mohammed. He had remained there, unmoving, all the while she had slept against him. Kalila felt her cheeks warm a little. Despite how awkward she might have felt, she couldn't deny the butterflies in her stomach as well.

"How long was I out?" she asked, her voice quiet. Even so, her voice felt louder than it should have been, "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to fall asleep on you...Not that that was a bad thing or anything."

Kalila shifted her weight a little, into a more comfortable position. She still leaned onto him a little. He was warm, combating the chill in the cave. It was a surprise that it actually got this cool inside.

---- [ x ] ----

The hours had passed by rather quickly. Hao was glad, wanting to put his plans forth as soon as possible. Ayasha's own thoughts mixed and mingled with his own. She was worried about what was to come. Naturally, she would be afraid.

Hao could offer no words to settle those thoughts. What happened would happen. She would merely learn to accept it, move onto better days. After the word was clean, she could do whatever she wanted.

He was grateful to be on the ground again though, already he had stirred up a bit of panic. Good. They needed to know who he was before they died. Ayasha called upon her own spirits, the old rams comment going ignored.

"You shouldn't worry so much," he stated, "It will be done quick enough, at least this place will."

Hao had considered many natural disasters but knew some of the other shamans might get caught up within it. He could easily bring them back. It would be far too much work, however.

"I suggest any shamans in the vicinity simply come to my side," he called out, ignoring any whispers or stares, "otherwise, I can't guarantee your safety when I begin this slaughter."

Confusion rolled off the crowds in waves. Hao shook his head, placing a hand on Ayasha's shoulder. He gave it a squeeze before nodding toward her. "Do what you can," he told her, "I will take care of the rest."

With that, the ground began to shake under their feet. Concrete would split open, buildings would start to collapse in on themselves. This was only the beginning of the terrible things Hao could do.

She had begun to stir, sitting up and rubbing the sleep from her eyes. Outside the sun had moved, shrouding the cavern entrance in more shadows. She looked a little out of it for a few seconds though quickly came to her senses. A chuckle escaped him as he reached out to brush aside the bangs from her face.

“I can’t say, though you needed the rest so do not worry,” he answered. He glanced towards the underbrush and tree branches that hide them away, gauging the light that managed to filter in. “I believe it’s closer to evening, though I cannot be sure.”

He rolled his shoulders than, working the stress from them. He’d hardly moved so as to allow Kalila the rest she so needed. The worry they’d all been feeling had affected her greatly after all. Keeping her awake when he was perfectly capable of keeping watch on his own had been an unacceptable thought.

“I suppose it must be close to evening. I suspect Hao might have at least begun by now…” Therw as no that he hadn’t. The closest populated area was Japan and with the Spirit of Fire he surely must have reached it by now. He shook his head. Now wasn’t the time to dwell on those things. “I do admit to wondering where the other shamans on the island have ended up however.”

----[x]----

Hao had turned to address the crowds around them, those that stopped and stared. It was easy to pick out what few shamans were there, their eyes darting to the Spirit of Fire and actually seeing rather than growing more baffled as to how Hao and she had sat atop what might have appeared to be thin air to humans. Ayasha shook her head, tapping Muna and Tawa’s tablets. She’d need the trio to be absolutely sure she was at her best for this.

Murmuring was already out there and some people had cameras and phones out—were they recording? Ayasha figured they would be; it was the start to Hao’s plans being spread to the other nations at this rate. But nothing would end up stopping him with the Great Spirit at his disposal now.

Before she could integrate the trio of spirits into their mediums Hao spoke again, this time to her. She paused, blinking up at him before nodding. “Right!”

She didn’t let the shaking ground deter her from integrating with the trio of spirits she called her own. Whatever reservations they had they would follow her to the ends of the world and back again, likewise she would keep them safe as best she could. Besides, without them there was no way to aid any shamans just wanting to get through this.

She darted forward a few steps, the effort a tremendous one with how the earth shook beneath them all. Only then did she cup her hands around her mouth and shouted out over the noise of the crowd; “Any shamans who wish to remain safe, come to me with your spirits! I can’t guarantee you’ll be safe on your own!”

There were some shouts of how she sounded nuts, about how this earthquake was going to be devastating if it did not stop soon but mostly there were panicked cries and those running to get to what they perceived to be safer places.

From the sounds of it, everything had been uneventful. She was glad about that. For a while, she worried that someone might find this place. Kalila was happy to know that extending the cover a little was working, at least, for the moment.

She stretched out her own limbs, a little cramped from sleeping the way she had. Kalila hoped that all of this would end quickly. She simply wanted to move on in life. Better things had to wait ahead.

"Well, guess I can't complain about sleeping that long," she answered, "At least it took my mind off things."

Kalila often suffered from nightmares when she was overly stressed. Relief had spread through her when she had none. Some of them were rather serious, leading to anxiety attacks. She'd given up her medication long ago and simply tried to cope with her anxieties when they were at their worst.

What he said next, she could only agree with. The closet place was Japan, after all. From there, it would just be working their way west. No matter how many people banded together, they would not stand a chance against a god.

"Hard to say," she replied, tugging her knees against her chest, "They may be trying to gather themselves, for all we know."

That was her best guess. They would need to be prepared for that. For the moment, she wanted to focus on other things. Happier things. She glanced at Mohammed before asking, "What do you plan on doing after Hao...finishes what he's doing?"

---- [ x ] ----

Ayasha quickly understood his instructions and released her other spirits. There was anxiousness in her but he knew she would do her best. In turn, he would do what he could to protect her. No human would attempt to harm her while he was around.

People were panicking, scrambling for cars or cover. The sight of some falling and being crushed by others or even rubble would make anyone sick to their stomach. Hao scoffed, merely striding forward. He felt proud of the destruction he was causing.

"You could have saved yourselves long ago," he called out, taunting these people, "You were damned when you forgot what nature had provided for you."

No one stopped to look at him. No one even listened. Screams and shouts filled the air. He heard weeping among them. Of all the sounds, perhaps that was the worst. Hao was not bothered by it but would Ayasha be?

The emotions rolled off of people in waves. It would be crushing for a normal people. He had been long since used to this. This was his life. He had no choice in the matter. Minds raced and he would know ever thought.

Fire began to spread carefully as Spirit of Fire now took to creating storms. No one would survive. He wouldn't allow any human to walk in this world.

"Ayasha," he called out, "Keep an eye out for any of these fools who might try to fight back. I can hear their thoughts. Many of them are considering it."

As Kalila moved to stretch Mohammad was free to shift, allowing his cramped muscles a break. He’d sat so still for so long he’d worried he might grow a kink in places that would be tougher to work out. Still, she’d needed the rest and he wouldn’t begrudge her that. Besides, someone had to remain awake in case a hostile shaman or spirit stumbled upon them.

Hushed voices remained between them, none too eager to draw attention to their hiding spot. It would only be a matter of time before they were confronted however. Those shamans that did not wish to side with Hao would most likely bide their time and strike when they felt most confident…

Mohammad shook the thought aside. “That’s true,” he agreed. Gathering up while Hao was busy would be best for those against him but it wouldn’t help them…

Reaching out, Mohammad’s hand found Kalila’s hair, fussing with it briefly. Perhaps keeping things light would be best, at least for the moment anyways. They couldn’t remain that way forever if someone stumbled on by.

“Come now, we’ll deal with it all as it comes,” Mohammad promised.

----[x]----

Noise; there was so much noise. Buildings cracking apart and chunks of pavement ripping apart mingled with the sounds of the people. So many were screaming and many more were crying. Ayasha swallowed the lump in her throat. She had a job to do and she’d see it through. Picking apart shamans with spirit allies would be easy but it would be those that kept their spirits hidden that would be more difficult to aid if they did not speak up.

Hao was speaking, calling out to these people but he remained unheard. Did that only further drive him to finishing what he was starting? Ayasha didn’t know. Perhaps he’d finish regardless, he was a man who saw through what he began after all. The crackling of fire joined the cacophony of noise and soon the smoke would reach her nose, an acrid scent upon the wind.

Her attention diverted from watching the crowds to instead glance at Hao. Some were going to attack? Well, fine, she’d be more than a match for them with her spirits at her side. Still, sheer number could be enough to overwhelm her…

“Ah, already?” Maybe that shouldn’t have surprised her. Still, that meant that she had to move quickly to find the shamans who might be overwhelmed in all of this. Hao’s new world would mean nothing if only very few shamans survived to thrive in it. “Well, they’ll have to try pretty hard to take me out!”

Still, she had no shield to her sword now. Kalila had always been the defensive player, especially so during the Tournament. Now Ayasha didn’t have that. She’d have to improvise. Already she could spot a shaman or two among the panicking crowds, their spirit allies aiding them nearer. Good! So she’d be able to start right away without having to look about lost like a small child.

Kalila prayed that things would remain quiet for the rest of the evening. If the other shamans were smart, and unfortunately some simply jumped onto their first instincts, they would spend time gathering themselves for the evening. That was the best option, she figured.

Who knew how it would end up. Kalila was just grateful they were still alive. Things had gotten bad so quickly. She didn't want to see anyone else die.

His answer was simple. They could only assume at this point. Kalila didn't want to let Valen check things out. He might be needed. In this time, she needed him the most, just in case.

Kalila's thoughts ground to a halt when he reached out, toying with her hair. Her heart leapt in her throat for a moment. She liked the feeling, happy to have his fingers toying with her hair. It was relaxing, far better than the weeks that had passed.

"I'd like to stay with you," she said. She had decided that weeks ago, "If you'll have me."

Ayasha seemed to be getting closer and closer to Hao. Something had told her that Hao would not simply let her go. Maybe it was finally time to let go.

---- [ x ] ----

The noise should have been deafening. For him, it all went ignored. It was easy to keep himself safe. He was a god, after all. He would not die. These humans would never be able to anything to him.

The Japanese didn't typically carry firearms. Some did and soon enough, the sound of bullets tore through the air. Spirit of Fire blocked theme easily. Hao smirked, allowing the ground to crumble away underneath that group.

"Weapons like that are useless," he shouted, "Bring your armies! I'll destroy them all!"

He trusted Ayasha to take care of herself now. This was the most he could do. The ground would tremble again. In some there area of Japan, he let a volcano erupt. Without any warning, there would be little way to rescue those unsuspecting people.

The place was clearing out pretty quickly though stragglers would remain. People were disoriented. Some news groups even still remained about, frantically trying to catch what was going. They would all see that power he was capable of.

"Burn," he muttered, allowing the Spirit of Fire to do his work. Those remaining in the area would not suspect the flurry of flames that would wash over them. They would barely even have the chance to scream.

Mohammad did nothing complex with her hair, merely running his fingers through it and occasionally twisting a lock or two about his finger carefully. Had she grown tense then? He couldn’t quite tell though she seemed to lean further into him. Mohammad took this as a sign to continue his ministrations, however simple they were, until she told him to stop. Perhaps this aided in clearing her mind of her worries.

Seconds passed in this manner before she spoke again, her voice quiet even in this dark cavern. Mohammad blinked, pausing briefly to glance down at her. He quickly resumed fussing with her hair while he took in those words.

Finally he allowed himself to respond in the form of a soft hum. “I would not mind it, if that’s what you truly want,” he said, moving to rest his chin atop her head.

Perhaps it would be good for the both of them like this. Peyote had betrayed them all, dead and gone from this plain of existence even as a spirit. Mohammad could not promise that he would remain so near to Master Hao’s side as he had previously either, not until things had settled and even then he wasn’t so certain. Kalila must be thinking the same with how her young charge had grown close to Hao.

He offered a shrug with the shoulder Kalila wasn’t resting against despite the fact that she would not see it. “We’ll figure it all out when things have settled,” he promised again.

----[x]----

People still remained, mostly those with news channels and those who would brave approaching Hao. Ayasha couldn’t focus on that, instead making a beeline for those with spirits at their side. They were lost, just as the humans were, clearly those who had not participated in the Tournament. Still, Ayasha had to make sure they stayed safe—she’d promised both Hao and herself that she would.

She could hear Hao goading the humans on, urging them to bring their armies to him. Was he merely getting cocky or did he hope to show them he was unbeatable? It would surely make things easier to get the armies out of the way…

Ayasha shook her head. “C’mon! Stick with me!” she urged, especially so to those younger than her. Only three shamans so far… There would be more yet, she knew but this was a start. Finding a safe place for them after this city was purged would need to come next though she wasn’t sure what to do about that.

”What’s going on? Why is this happening?!” one of the three shouted, a lanky-looking man with a memorial tablet clutched in his hand.

Ayasha merely shook her head, trying to ignore the screaming and the smell of burning flesh strong in her nose. “Just stay safe behind me! You’ll find out later!”

She liked the feel of his fingers in her hair. He was warm as well, combating the chilly air in the cave. It must have been getting darker now. She would have sworn she felt the ground tremble once more, just a small quake. Kalila wrote it off as her imagination.

For the moment, she felt comfortable. That was what was important. She hadn't felt this way in weeks. Honestly, she could have slept for ages if she allowed herself.

Relief washed over her. At least by the end of this, she knew that bonds would not be broken. Kalila was half afraid by the end of all of this, she might end up alone. Ayasha's own relationship with Hao was growing rather strong, after all.

"You'd have had a hard time getting rid of me if you'd said no," she replied in a joking manner.

At least right now, things were quiet. Kalila didn't mind it at all. She could almost forget what had happened outside these cave walls. As soon as things settled, she hoped for life to be simple once again.

"I'm sure," she replied, "As soon as we can find a way off this island when things have quieted and Hao has finished his job."

---- [ x ] ----

Out of the corner of his eye, he could see Ayasha running off with the few shamans she had found. One seemed to be shouting. Whatever was said, he could only assume. Hao had little attention on them for the moment. Ayasha would make sure they were okay.

The people had more or less filtered out of the area. Hao would simply move onto the next. Once Japan was finished, he would continue his way west. Some places would be easy to take care of. Others would take time.

"This is becoming boring," he called out, starting for another area, "Come now, I thought you humans would mobilize better when your world is crumbling underneath your feet!"

He wanted to see something more, see how they would put up a fight. He knew it wouldn't be much. Mind as well try while he could. After the humans were gone, he would have the entire world of shamans to rule over.

"Go, purge the rest in fire," he ordered his large spirit, "I will take care of the rest here."

Whatever stragglers were left would be killed quickly, joining the Great Spirit. It would leave Hao stronger. Hundreds of thousands of new spirits would continue to aid him, whether they knew it or not.

Night had descended before Mohammad had risked venturing from the cavern to run a bit of reconnaissance. He had to know where the other shamans were—at least the ones that might strike against them for not standing against Hao. With Djinn nearby he would remain safe enough. He was a tough one to beat after all.

Still, he hoped Kalila would not be irrational and come after him if she thought he took too long.

There were few in the immediate area though it would be worrisome if they came nearer to the cavern. Mohammad shook his head, resisting a sigh at that. He couldn’t afford to be overheard when he was scavenging about for supplies. They hadn’t been able to grab anything before the group had tried to strike against Hao before he could do anything.

What he found was little but it would be enough for the night. Still, he had to tread carefully on the way back. If he left obvious tracks anyone would be able to find them while they rested. He wouldn’t let that happen if he could help it. So, it took him nearly twice as long to return as it did to trek out, the moon high in the sky and lighting his way. Djinn’s aid made it possible that he treaded safely.

“I’ve returned,” he called out softly before he even began to brush aside the overgrown plant life. He’d rather not get something thrown at him if Kalila panicked. Still, they needed to see about getting a light source in here, even if it would be risky…

----[x]----

How long did this go on? Ayasha couldn’t be sure, working to make sure shamans remained safe as Hao’s destruction reigned fiercely. It was difficult to swallow and so Ayasha did her best in aiding others, getting them to safety and urging them away. It was up to them to remain safe once the humans in the area were purged however…

And so the pattern continued, Hao moving forward with the Spirit of Fire burning and ravaging any and all that got in his way. She tried her best to ignore the smell and the sounds but there was only so much she could push away, especially so when those shamans who needed aid required she acknowledge it further.

City to town to city and so forth, this continued. None could stand in the way of Hao and the more he killed, their spirits sent to the Great Spirit, the more powerful he became anyways. It was frightening in itself. Still, she couldn’t keep this up much longer, not without rest. While Hao grew more powerful Ayasha did not—she was just one simple shaman.

Hours had to have passed, the moon rising higher in the sky before Hao had paused. Was he surveying what he could here? Perhaps he was merely making sure this portion of Japan was cleared before they moved on. Or maybe Spirit of Fire was wrapping up the stragglers while Hao waited here. How much of this country had they already purged? Ayasha hadn’t a clue.

She heaved a sigh, slipping to her knees and then to her bottom to rest. Maska, Muna and Tawa were released from their mediums for the time. Her mana reserves were too low to keep them there any longer without risk to herself.

”Hey, hey! You’re not tiring out already are you? Huh?” Tawa urged despite the fact that he too needed to sit back and recover. Ayasha merely waved the little lamb away.

The hours had passed by slowly. Not much was done, a little was said. Kalila didn't want to chance someone happening upon them. She was afraid of that the most.

Eventually, Mohammed had decided to do some recon. Between them, she knew he was capable of defending himself. Still worry nagged at her. What if she lost him again?

Kalila made herself stay put despite every want to follow after him. She shifted uncomfortably, trying to ignore the chill in the cave now that the sun had fully set. Minutes ticked by far too slowly for her liking. She tugged at her coat, wrapping it around her so she might conserve a little more warmth.

Kalila remained quiet and still for a long time. She had debated quite a bit on pacing but finally decided against it. There was no point in drawing unwanted attention on this place.

She jumped a little, startled by the sound of footsteps outside the cave door. Her heart hammered in her throat. She remained perfectly still, tense, for a long moment. Eventually, Mohammed's voice rang out. A sigh of relief left her as he stepped inside.

"Anyone nearby, then?" she asked, a little afraid of finding out the answer. It was so dark, she shifted a little so he might hear her, "Find anything? It's gotten rather cold in here..."

---- [ x ] ----

The hours had passed quickly for Hao. He had destroyed one city after another. Being able to deal with things at a long distance as well helped. The volcano erupting should have done it's job enough. Misty ash, almost akin to fog, had been falling for hours since the first eruption.

Through that time, Ayasha had done an excellent job corralling and keeping other shamans safe. While the numbers were still little, Hao was certain they would grow with time. The world was vast and there were plenty of places for shamans to hide.

Hao finally came to a halt, surveying what was left of this area. Much of it was rubble and ashen bodies. In time, when all was said and done, he would let trees plant life grow here, taking over what had once been cities and small towns.

He blinked, catching sight of Ayasha sinking to her knees. It was obvious she was tired. She'd expended so much mana. Unlike many of the others, she had not experienced a near death situation to increase her mana.

"Perhaps it is best we rest for the night," he suggested, "Who ever is left will have some time to regain themselves. Perhaps that will make things a little more fun."

That seemed like a cruel thing to say. Hao did not mind. He had no fond feelings for humans. They had all seen his face by now and even then, no one would be ready for him.

Mohammad shook his head out of habit before realizing it was too dark in here for her to see. “No, no one is near right now. I think they’ve all settled in for the night where they feel safest.”

He could feel the chill she spoke of. It was colder already due to night falling but in the cavern it felt twice as cold. They couldn’t stay like this without some light and warmth. A heavy sigh escaped him. They’d have to risk being seen but he wasn’t about to let Kalila freeze through the night like this.

“I think we’re safe enough to light a fire. It might be dangerous still but it’s chilly enough to warrant one,” he answered, running a hand through his tangled hair. ’And you’re not dressed warmly enough to get through the night,’ he pointed out to himself. Neither was he but he was far more concerned about Kalila’s health than his own for the moment. “We can kindle a fire and eat if you’re comfortable enough to.”

Even with Valen’s aid with cover over the cavern mouth the firelight would be able to be glimpsed through the canopy of plant life. It was a risk that Mohammad was willing to take however.

Already he’d kneeled down, placing the stolen pack of supplies to rummage through them. If need be he could start a fire from scratch but he was sure he’d nicked a box of matches from someone’s stash. Hao’s retaliation had left many scattered, leaving their things behind and for those shamans that remained to lick their wound and causing them to grow distracted.

----[x]----

While her arms had broken and been recovered by Kalila over the course of several painstaking hours it was not enough to bolster her mana reserves in the way a near-death experience would. It must have showed now with her trio of spirits crowded around her. Even Hao had noticed though that wasn’t a surprise, given he seemed to notice everything.

“Ah?” She blinked, meeting Hao’s gaze. Rest for the night, but was that really smart? Ayasha didn’t get to say much before someone beat her to it.

”And would that be wise? Any sort of recon could come from any stragglers,” Maska snorted. Did he worry of Ayasha getting caught in the crossfire? He must have with the way he had shuffled closer to her side. No doubt Maska would remain on edge through the night if that was the plan, despite Hao’s power.

Ayasha waved a dismissive hand though she wasn’t eager to rest with the screams and smell of burning flesh so fresh in her mind. All the same it wasn’t like she could just avoid sleep either. “Aren’t you able to strike farther from here anyways?” she pointed out instead.

With the ash falling from the sky as it was she had to guess that was Hao’s doing as well. Surely he could continue a bit more of his purge from here even as she rested. Of course he may want the humans to see his face as he dominated them too…

It was a relief to know that no one was nearby. For the moment, they would be safe. She let herself relax a little bit. Kalila's muscles felt tense from spending so much time worrying. At least now, they could just sit about without worrying.

"That's good to know," she replied, "At least it may stay quiet for the night."

Kalila rested her chin in the crook of her knees. She repressed a shiver. In truth, since he'd left, she'd been shivering. For the moment, she was glad it was dark. He wouldn't be able to see how bad it was.

"I'm comfortable with it," she answered easily, "Hopefully it won't draw anyone to near."

Kalila figured that would be the best result. She normally tolerated the cold well, when she was moving. As she was, it sapped what little warmth she had left in her. She wanted to get up and move if possible, even if it chased the chill away for a little while.

---- [ x ] ----

Hao let out a small laugh. Honestly, they'd all see his power. What did they worry about? There wasn't anything to fret over. He would easily be able to protect them if any one tried to ambush them.

He supposed it was only natural that they would think as such. Fear was a powerful thing, after all. They would never truly be able to kill it, no matter how hard they tried.

"I think I can handle that on my own," he informed carefully, "Of course, you've all laid witness to that, haven't you?"

Ayasha waved a hand to dismiss the subject quickly. It was obvious that she was disturbed by all of this. Ayasha was fighting against whatever morals she had to allow him to do as he pleased. That was quite the resolve.

"You're correct," he replied with a smile, "If I wanted to, I could split this island in two. I only hold off simply to save any shamans who might be around. Of course, I can revive any stragglers as well but that can be a hassle in and of itself at times."

The answer was simple but informative. If he was to keep these people at his side, he would be honest. The last he was dishonest, Peyote had slaughtered half his followers. A pity but at least some of them were brought back.

"Now that we all understand that," he continued easily, "A rest, perhaps? I'd rather not see anyone keel over dead."

”We can only hope so,” he agreed. There was little reason to think that it might not be and yet Mohammad would not lower his guard entirely despite that. Best to be safer rather than sorry.

It took some time to find the matches in the stolen pack of provisions. What moonlight filtered in through the plant life was far too little to aid him and it was only with Djinn’s aid did he finally manage to track down the little box. Moving carefully, hands stuck out to catch the cavern wall or Kalila, he moved to place the box in her hands. While she’d been so warm earlier her fingers were chilly now, a testament to just how low the temperature had dipped from the pleasurable weather that afternoon.

“We’ll need to get some kindling and wood,” he pointed out. “Though we needn’t wander far for that.”

The invitation for her to join him, to move around and try to warm up in the process, hung in the air. He’d rather she not remain here in the dark like this on her own if it could be helped. Now that he had an idea of where those troubling shamans were he would rather she remain at his side. Better to travel in a group, so to speak.

----[x]----

Maska harrumphed despite the assurances that all would be well. Really, he needn’t worry so much though telling him that was like trying to force a horse to drink water. Even Muna and Tawa had quickly learned this fact, both looking a little fascinated at the conversation that transpired now.

”All the answers, hmm?” Maska scoffed again. ”Fine then. As you wish.”

”Oh, it’s not that bad is it…?” Muna wondered, head canted to one side. No answer would accompany this question as Hao settled things after that. It seemed he was determined for the night to be sent recovering—at least on Ayasha and her spirit’s end of matters.

With a great heaving scoff, Maska was quick to usher the little lambs to their memorial tablets before following suit to his own. Perhaps he had no desire to deal with Hao—but then the large ram hardly had any desire to deal with anyone most times. Ayasha was sometimes surprised he remained allied with her all this time as it was.

Despite the things that still ran through her mind Ayasha did her best to ignore them for now. Instead she stuck out her hands expectantly and said “Well, at this rate you’ll all but have to carry me to wherever a good place to rest is then.”

Honestly, she didn’t expect much, not with the ash falling from the sky still as it had been for hours. Still, a place without it drifting all over would be an improvement, no matter the conditions. Best not get choked up on the stuff while trying to sleep, after all.

That hope might go a long way. After all, no one was around the area right now. If it stayed that way the rest of the evening, they could move on to a safer spot. Keeping on the move might be for the best thing for them.

She heard his footsteps move closer toward her. His hands brushed passed hers, placing a small box within it. They must have been matches. This was the only way they would be lighting any kind of fire, big or small.

The invitation was a nice one. Kalila wouldn't mind getting up and stretching a bit. She pushed herself to her feet, repressing a shiver that ran through her. At least this way a bit of movement would keep her warm.

"The stretch will do some good," she replied, sparing a smile that he would not see, "Let's be quick, though."

Kalila still felt they had to be cautious. No doubt, Mohammed probably felt the same way. They'd made it this far. Neither wanted to see things go sour at this point. Kalila intended to see some future out of this, whatever future Hao might bring.

"I just pray no one decided to have a wander about," she brought up quietly as they started back outside, "I've had all the trouble I can handle at this point."

---- [ x ] ----

The arguments didn't quite surprise Hao. Ayasha's old ram spirit was a tad stubborn and argumentative. He was protective of his shaman partner as well. The spirits were ushered into their memorial tablets, leaving the two alone once more.

"Well, the old goat is certainly a moody one," he pointed out lightly, "I suppose he's merely looking out for you, however."

Ayasha was still on the ground. She looked exhausted and why wouldn't she be? She'd been pushing herself terribly this entire time. Hao was honestly impressed. She never experienced death but she had done her best with the mana she had.

Hao chuckled lightly, approaching her as she spoke. That wasn't asking for too much. Honestly, she was exhausted. He could spare her this. He wouldn't let her just sit here, after all.

He knelt down, scooping her up easily in his arms. Now that that was out of the way, he would seek out a safe place. Spirit of Fire would find a place for them, as quickly as it could manage.

"Come now, no need to look so bashful," he teased lightly, "You could be in a worse position, yes?"

Hao figured she could do with a bit of teasing at this point. Her mind was whirling with the days events. Best try to settle her mind now.

Mohammad had already moved to the cavern opening, pushing aside a branch to allow Kalila out after him. Only when she’d followed would he allow the branch to ‘snap’ back into place, the leaves brushing against one another sounding far louder in the nighttime quiet than usual. Djinn remained near, ever-vigilant in this darkness.

“Let’s take a look around for what we need,” he suggested. The sooner there was a fire going the sooner she would not feel so cold to the touch. “There should be plenty to use around here.”

Still, she had a point. Anyone could be wandering around even now. Wary, his steps were as muted as could be, careful not to step on patches of gravel or dried and dead twigs. Still, with underbrush all about it was a near impossible feat. All the same it would mean they should hear anyone coming near as well.

“We’ll stay close just in case we need to duck out of sight,” Mohammad pointed out further. It was an idea at least.

In the dark with only the light of the moon to aid them it would be difficult to find suitable timber for a fire but Mohammad would do his best. It wasn’t like they had a blanket or a coat to drape over Kalila’s shoulders. Giving up because it was dark out was not an option he was going to explore.

----[x]----

”Something like that,” Ayasha relented. Sometimes Maska’s actions left her baffled as it was. Then again it wasn’t like either shaman or spirit was too inclined to share their feelings and thoughts out loud with each other half the time. It just wasn’t how either operated and perhaps it was that that kept them together.

She’d stuck out her hands for help in getting to her feet, ready to walk a bit further if she must. Determination was a driving factor in her after all. As such, surprise burst through her as Hao crouched down to instead heave her up in his arms. A startled yelp escaped her, arms around his neck as if wary of being dropped without warning.

“I was kidding about carrying me!” she scolded, face warming considerably. She moved to pinch his cheek as she muttered “jeez!”

Nonetheless, now that she was in his arms like this Ayasha didn’t imagine he was just going to put her down, if only to get a bit of a rise from her. She’d long since gotten used to his teasing and prodding. He liked getting reactions from others, that much was increasingly obvious with the more time spent around him.

Still, it wasn’t always so bad. At least he paid attention—if one chose to look at it that way.

The branches snapping back into place seemed far too loud. Kalila tried not to let it bother her. She was afraid of someone still being out here. They'd know before someone struck out, right?

At least gathering kindling and a bit of wood would be a quick task. As long as everything was dry, they could get back in relatively quick. The fire didn't need to be roaring. It just had to be enough to warm the area in the cave.

"I can't imagine we'll be out here too long," she whispered back, following after him as quietly as she could.

The plan was simple enough. He had more experience than she did. That kind of thing could easily save them both. When they found a suitable spot, Kalila went on to gather small branches and twigs.

At one point, she could have sworn she heard something. Brushing it off as wildlife, she simply went about her business. The quicker the job was done, the better after all.

All the while, her mind whirled with where Ayasha was now. Was she safe? Was Hao protecting her? Kalila could only pray that was the case.

---- [ x ] ----

Ayasha was startled when he scooped her up. To say she had been just kidding when she requested being picked up? Well that was a little baffling. She couldn't deny the pleasure she received as well.

"Are you certain about that?" he teased in response.

She reached out, pinching his cheek lightly. Hao didn't move away, barely phased by such an action. Really, she acted as if she expected something else. Hao would have picked her up regardless.

He'd started forward. They would find some place to duck down for the night. Ayasha needed it, at least for the night. She looked weak, even seem to feel it. The mana she expanded was far too much.

"Don't fret too much," he brought up, "I'm well aware all of this has been...stressful. Perhaps this request was a tad too hard."

He spared a glance at the flaming towns. With no one there to put the flames out, they would roar until they eventually die down. That would take some time, he was sure.

"Put your mind at ease. It will not always be like this," he carried on quietly.

”I hope that won’t be the case anyways,” Mohammad admitted. But then perhaps she was unaware of the troubles of seeking firewood at night. If the branches and kindling they gathered was still fresh from the trees then it would merely smoke and not catch like they needed it to.

That smoke could prove to be a fatal mistake if they were not careful.

Though he kept close they still had to branch out, gathering up what they could. In the shadows the trees provided it left Mohammad wary. Any of those shadows could be an enemy, ready to attack if they thought they were still fully on Hao’s side. Every so often Mohammad would stiffen, glancing about warily if he thought he saw a shadow move.

Surely animals would have darted away, it had to be a trick of his mind. Djinn had not spotted anyone after all and surely Valen was aiding Kalila as she sought her share of kindling. He had to trust her to remain safe because she was capable after all. More healer than fighter she at least knew how to remain out of the line of fire if the need arose.

’Just put it from your mind,’ he told himself finally.

----[x]----

Ayasha clutched at Hao’s poncho tightly as he started off, a little worried even now about just being dropped. It was probably a silly thing to worry about; though Hao liked to tease and push buttons he wasn’t outright cruel. At least, he hadn’t been to her.

“Of course I am!” she chided further. Nonetheless it was nice to not have to drudge further when she was ready to rest.

Her attention drifted back to him when he spoke again, sounding far less playful than moments ago. In the distances she could still spot the night sky alit with the glow of raging infernos. At this rate there would be little left that nature would need to overtake in time. She shook her head, huffing.

“Don’t give me that!” Ayasha shouted, pinching his cheek harder this time. “Like I’d let you leave me behind because I’m not a friggin’ god!” if that’s what he’d thought at all it was laughable. She would have found a way to follow and aid him, even if it meant she expended herself farther than she ever had before.

Kalila had called Valen to keep an eye out for her. He was quiet, his ears twitching on occasion. He didn't stray too far from her side. That would be best. He might be able to disappear but if someone saw him immediately, things would not go well for them.

She was quiet, taking another small branch into her arms. Kalila flinched, hearing the sound of a chant. It was a soft sound but one that she knew. Valen had flinched in response. Before he could do anything, he was forced back into his tablet, sealed there by some unknown voice.

Kalila shot up, letting the kindling clatter to the ground. Djinn would be forced into his tablet too at this rate.

"Mohamm-!"

His name barely left her mouth. An explosion of pain from her back through her stomach stopped her. The taste of iron filled her mouth. She sputtered, choking on blood. Kalila only got a moment to glance down to see a curved blade running through her before it was ripped from her body.

Knees buckling underneath her, Kalila crumpled to the ground. Darkness followed quickly after.

---- [ x ] ----

She tugged herself closer to him. Ayasha seemed to do that quite often. He didn't quite mind it. Her fingers tangled in his poncho, remaining close, he felt a little less lonesome. Loneliness, it was something he'd felt since his mother died...

Ayasha protested again, breaking his thoughts. He chuckled lightly. This wasn't a surprise. She had said the same thing before. Being left behind was something of a big deal to her.

"Trust me, I would never abandon you," he teased in response, "You may not be a god but you have your own unique strengths...as long as it doesn't involve breaking both your arms again."

That was a moment that Hao didn't quite understand the distress he felt at the time. He'd rushed back to Kalila, ordering the older woman to heal her friend. It had taken hours to do so but her healing had done enough.

Ayasha grew silent, questions whirling in her mind. Hao frowned. What was wrong?

"Are you alright?" he inquired quietly. He had a guess. Her mind was on Kalila. Perhaps she and what was left of the survivors hadn't made it...Of all people, Kalila's death would no doubt crush Ayasha the most...

Something was wrong! Djinn had drawn into his memorial tablet, a spasm shuddering through his large form as if in protest as it happened. This alone caused Mohammad to turn and tear towards the area he’d last glimpsed Kalila in, his heart already racing in his ears. Tablet clutched tightly in hand, as if attempting to draw Djinn from it by touch alone, Mohammad hardly spared a moment’s thought about the noise he produced by crashing through the underbrush as he was.

“Kalila? Kalila!” When had he started shouting for her? Mohammad didn’t know and he didn’t care to stop—not when he heard his name ring through air, cut off so suddenly as it was.

How many seconds passed? It felt like minutes, like hours, until he spotted Kalila and all at once it felt as if his heart ran cold. What little moonlight made it through the trees glinted off stained metal, the thick scent of blood hanging in the air and choked sobs and gasps filled his ears.

His mind whirled with nothing and everything all at once, rage bubbling through him as he lunged towards the murderer. If he could not call upon Djinn to aid him then he would merely use the tablet clutched tightly in his hand, any injuries he sustained in the process be damned! The situation was a whirl in his head, barely conceived pain and the drive to kill spurring him forward until he stood over the body of the murderer, bloodied tablet in his hand.

Only then did his anger cool, despair washing over him in icy waves as he turned to drop to his knees at Kalila’s side though it was too late to do a thing about the injury, the blood pooled and soaked into the ground around her.

----[x]----

What was it that seemed to tear her in half, stopping her cold halfway through scolding Hao? All at once she’d been ready to continue the argument, however ridiculous it might have been, and the next all thoughts were gone replaced by a cold wave of… of what? Ayasha’s thoughts whirled, settling briefly on what Hao had said earlier.

… Was it possible that something had happened to Kalila? The thought caused Ayasha’s throat to tighten and her heart to race. Was she even aware that her grip on Hao had tightened? It didn’t seem as if that were the case.

All through the night and the coming day the feeling plagued her, even when she should have been so much busier resting or aiding Hao and the other shamans. It couldn’t be shaken, it pestered and picked, nagging at the back of her mind for days to come. Dwelling on it, Ayasha grew distant in that time, often seen biting at her thumb deep in thought between cities and even countries.

Even as the feeling lessened in that time it nagged at her. What had happened? Hao didn’t seem to have answers for her, or if he did he’d refused to impart them, frustrating her further.

Cold. She remembered the cold as the life left her. Panic and pain had ebbed away to nothing but a strange sense of peace. She'd been whisked away to some place else, waking up to find herself alone.

That only lasted for a moment. She remembered talked to Peyote. He was there, in the Great Spirit, no longer bitter or angry. He merely wanted to remain as close to Hao as he could.

Kalila expected to remain here, aimless and unsure of what to do but she was somehow pulled away. From there, darkness. The darkness lasted for a long time, wrapped in warmth and silence.

Finally, after what seemed like years, she opened her eyes again. Light flooded into her view, forcing herself to close them again. She cringed, her body protesting. Muscles were stiff and protested as she moved. Kalila pushed herself up slowly, placing a hand on her forehead.

This wasn't the Great Spirit. There, she felt nothing. Pain had disappeared, she wouldn't feel aches. Kalila's gaze wandered about. She was unfamiliar with this place too. It looked like an abandoned building.

The island? Was she on the island? Kalila's mind whirled. What had happened? She'd been brought back, it seemed...but how? By who? What was more, where was Mohammed and how much time had passed?

---- [ x ] ----

Hao knew Kalila had gone. She was within the Great Spirit as well but only for a brief time. As the days passed and he'd continued his purge, she had somehow been revived. It was something that he didn't part with for now. Best leave Ayasha with something to look forward too. Besides, he already had an idea that she might have known at some point or another.

Days had turned to weeks, weeks to months as the purge went on. Where buildings and streets had been, lush trees and forest life took over. Armies from every nation had been deployed but stood no chance against Hao.

What was more, some of the shamans that took to his side fought against the humans as well. It made less work on him and showed their loyalty. Either by fear or respect, he knew there would be no uprising.

As they worked their way further west, Hao found himself near his Patch home in America once more. The silence was beautiful, the world quieted from cars and chatter.

"Glorious, isn't it?" he commented lightly, glancing at Ayasha, "Almost finished in the span of a couple months. Even now the world seems to be a happier place, hmmm?"

Humans could no destroy this place anymore. No, now that the damage done had been reversed, this world of shamans could be treated as it should be.

"In time, I'm sure we'll see everyone again," he carried on,s looking forward, "We're almost done here, after all."

How many days—no, how many months had passed? Mohammed had honestly lost count. Still, he remained optimistic, however little it was at times, that Kalila would awake. Finding Yoh Asakura, begging for their aid in returning her from the dead when he could not… it had been a blow to his pride but he would do it again if presented the chance to do it over again. He had failed Kalila but she need not pay for it for long.

All the same the days turned to weeks and then months and she had yet to wake. Surely at this rate her muscles would have atrophied a bit even if she did wake. She’d have trouble moving about at first. Mohammed shook his head, combing his fingers through his tangled hair. The walk had done little to clear his mind and he didn’t like leaving Kalila unattended in this state for long.

Heaving a sigh, he walked into that room of hers in this desolate little shack. Surely it would be the same as the days before…

Mohammed halted, blinking. No, he had to be seeing things… Yet there Kalila was, weakly holding up a hand and blinking at it as if she hadn’t a clue it was her own. A relieved laugh bubbled past his lips before he realized it, striding forward to cup her face in his hands and bury his face in her hair as he continued to laugh.

“You’ve woken up at last!” he cried at some point. “I’d feared…”

----[x]----

This area, Ayasha didn’t recognize it though there were many places in America she and Kalila had not yet stepped foot on even now. Hao seemed to recognize the place well enough, however, the smile on his face almost nostalgic. She did have to admit that the quiet was nice, listening to the sounds of nature around them.

Still, a bit of music here and there wouldn’t hurt. Perhaps, when things had settled down for good Ayasha might try her hand at an instrument.

Her gaze drifted to Hao as he spoke up. Almost done… Just a little more to go and Ayasha wasn’t even sure they were fully needed for that. So many shamans had taken to helping over time, rising up in the riots the humans had started in larger areas…

“Good, I could use a proper rest,” Ayasha answered finally. Going back and seeing everyone too… Ayasha had to find out what happened all those months ago, the feeling of dread so strong back then. “That and an actual meal.”
