Darcy's patience was growing a little thin with each minute that passed. Her fingers drummed against the surface of the polished wood counter, staring at nothing in particular as she drowned out the voice of her manager and the front desk clerk of the motel they were checking it. However, some problems seemed to have appeared, which was that their room wasn't ready for them to claim. Her manager was furious, the woman was in a dying need to rest off the sea sickness she had the whole time on their way the Hoenn region from Sinnoh.

A sigh soon passed through the blonde haired contestants lips, pushing away from the counter; deciding to leave everything to her manager and just walk around Lilycove City. Mostly, to check out the Contest Spectacular building. Hands behind her back, Darcy exited the motel and went straight towards her location. Thankfully, it was right next to the motel.

Her blue eyes studied the building, lips pressed to a thin line. This would be the new building she would perform at, heck, this was the new region she was going to make a name for herself! In all honesty, she was a bit unnerved by the thought--

Just as quickly as the thought came, Darcy was quick to shake it out of her head. No. She shouldn't have that sort of mindset. Taking a deep breath, the blonde haired woman made a silent declaration to the building in front of her. That she would reach her goal no matter what!

【☆】

Calem relaxed under the shade of a tree, exhausted from the journey he and his Pokemon were on. It was just a quick rest for his feet before he would have to get up; make his way to the next city. A map laid on his lap as he studied it, studied the path he should take. His Pokemon were out and about, mostly relaxing somewhere near the tree their trainer was propped against.

His eyes lifted up just to check on the said Pokemon, making sure that none of them had run off somewhere out of his sight. Thankfully, they didn't and began to fold his map before putting it in his bag. The young teens eyes went back to watching his Pokemon, a soft smile tugging on his lips at the sight of them sleeping.

Leaning his head against the trunk of the tree, he began to plan out what he would do at Lumiose city once they reached it. Possibly check out a couple of stores, just adventure around the large city. He heard that there was a quite a lot to do there anyways. They wouldn't linger too long though, they had a journey to finish after all (which was no where near the finish yet).

Calem closed his eyes for a moment and enjoyed the silence, the rustling of the trees, and soft chirps of wild Pokemon around him. It was rather nice  . . . and something he would have to admire before reaching a bristling and loud city.

Steven had always liked Lilycove City. Not as much as Mossdeep, but Lilycove was a respectable city with respectable areas. It had a Department Store, lovely beach, and was the root of the Contest Spectacular. Everything seemed to fit the bill of a normal day in Lilycove, but Steven wasn’t really in town to sight see, though his casual attitude and occasional chat with the locals as he moved seemed to speak otherwise. The Champion couldn’t seem too tense. He didn’t want to worry the town that much, but there had been suspicious activity in the area. It wasn’t surprising, as former trouble making team members could surface, a base having once been just outside the city.

The familiar head of steel blue caught attention, regardless, but he hadn’t the time for interviews from reporters, not a word, no. Steel-blue eyes combed the area once more as he sighed. The reports could have been false after all. Reliability was something he always had to check out. But Steven still was fond of walking around the city, bustling with people who all seemed to be equip with some sort of goal, even something as simple as walking to the beach every morning to see the sea up close. Steven couldn’t help but happily chuckle at the thought. The people were, of course, so kind and welcoming and warming.

There was, however, an obvious influx of tourists. The motel looked busy and the Contest Spectacular building seemed to be full of PokeBlock enthusiasts trying to make the best piece for their Pokemon. Outside of the building was a rather elegant looking woman, her gaze stuck like glue on the building. She, too, Steven concluded, was new to the area. Still, news travelled fast, even if she was new.

He quickly asked a few people around the close vicinity if they had noticed anything strange and what they presented him, in return, was knowledge of a very small, rebellious movement of definite villainy taking place. Steven knew it was part of his duty to deal with this, but he needed to find the source.

“Excuse me, Miss,” Steven said to the blonde woman in front of the Contest Building, “Have you seen anyone who possibly appeared as if they were part of an organization? Or up to no good?” Information collecting, but he wasn’t sure of what he would receive back. He looked on gently, the sheer influence he had still powerful around him.

“‘Eleu! Kyle!” Carrie exclaimed, hurrying after her small Pokemon with her Munchlax following close behind her, “I know you switched Pence’s ball out with that Smoke Ball you found. Would you give it back?” The situation was, overall, rather entertaining, a laugh to say the least, but she couldn’t just be down a Pokeball, especially when it actually held one of her Pokemon. Her Swirlix jumped and floated behind the Froakie, who held the PokeBall as it ran. The protective frog wouldn’t go far, it’d give the ball back when it felt like it, so Carrie ended up laughing, standing still as she watched her Pokemon play around.

“Pence, it looks like we won’t be getting to the road again for a little,” she sighed, tying her jacket around her waist. It was warmer here than back home, but she really hadn’t fallen out of the habit of matching a jacket to her clothes. She took a deep breath, her Munchlax copying her as they both saw ‘Eleu and Kyle run off further. “Ah… there they go…”

“Munch… Munch…”

“…Wait! Aren’t there Pokemon resting over there?” Carrie gasp, worried for her own Pokemon’s safety, and the other Pokemon. She really didn’t want her Pokemon’s antics to bother anything else. And… where exactly were they? It seemed as if her adventurous Pokemon led her fairly off her path. Caramel colored eyes blinked softly as she reached her hand out slowly, dropping her head almost in defeat until her Munchlax egged her on.

“Right! Let’s go stop those two!”

‘Eleu was quick to stop but Kyle wandered off. For Carrie, this wasn’t as big a deal. The cotton candy Pokemon was away from those resting Pokemon in the distance and she could relax – that was, until she again spotted her Swirlix tumbling fast. “Watch out for that tree, Kyle!” And the Swirlix moved its path, instead landing against something – someone who had been resting against the tree, a young teen such as herself. Carrie hurried over and apologized quickly, snatching the PokeBall of Pence’s away from Kyle, “Sorry… Little Kyle here doesn’t know any better sometimes…” Carrie knew her three Pokemon too well, and their behavior stretched in variety. She loved them to bits though. Still, she was worried about what this male would say after her Pokemon had landed right on him. Kyle was light, but still – wouldn’t it have been a bother?

Lost in thought and fire of determination in her eyes, Darcy blinked when she realized someone was talking to her. She looked over her shoulder, noticing a tall, steel blue haired male looking at her. From hearing his question, it honestly surprised her. Was Lilycove City dangerous at the moment? Darcy hadn’t seen anything suspicious or along those lines. Was this man some sort of detective . . . but wouldn’t he have flashed his badge or something first before asking questions?

“Um, I’m sorry . . . I haven’t seen anyone like that.” she replied honestly. Besides, she had just arrived to this city not too long ago; also she wouldn’t really be focused on watching out for suspicious people or activities.

She looked over the man’s shoulder, noting a few strangling reporters in the distance—watching them. Was he famous or something?

“Is something wrong?” she then questioned albeit knew it would be a futile attempt. If he really was with the police, then the male wouldn’t reveal anything to not cause a stir.

However, her attention tore away from the silver haired man in front of her, to a crowd that had started to form a few distance away from them. From all the excited screams and shouts, obviously someone well known had showed up. The thought of more competition did discourage the female for a moment, mostly from the growing crowd that surrounded the unknown person. She shook it off and silently accepted the challenge. That would be her one day, the one standing the the middle of the crowd.

“Darcy!”

Breaking away from her thoughts, Darcy perked up when she heard her name being called over the roar of the crowd. Her manager approached and placing a hand on Darcy’s back, the older woman catching her breath.

“Our room is finally prepared, let’s get going! Excuse us, sir.” her manager spoke with slight haste, no doubt wanting nothing more than a comfy bed to rest in. She gave the nicely dressed male Darcy had been talking to a small nod before gently pushing the blonde female towards the motel.

【☆】

It had been rather peaceful, keyword: had. In the distance, Calem did hear the voice of a girl and Pokemon. They voices were getting close, but Calem didn’t think anything of it at the moment. Possibly a trainer like him and just passing by to get to Luminose City. He had thought that until he was startled when something landed against him. The trainer’s eyes instantly looked to his side where he felt whatever or whoever bumped into him—noting the Swirlix that laid next to him. His grey eyes then locked on the female trainer that made herself known, apologizing for her Swirlix’s—named Kyle—behavior.

“No harm done at all.” Calem replied with a light chuckle, standing up from where he sat. It was just a Swirlix and luckily, the cotton candy Pokemon didn’t stick to his clothes when it bumped into him. Swirlix were known to have sticky sweet coats.

He studied the young trainer in front of him for a moment and the Pokemon around her. Obviously, they were a rambunctious sort of group; nothing wrong with that. His attention then turned to his Pokemon, which his Absol and Quilladin were about and about, curious about the new comers. His male Meowstic though, just kept sleeping on—not bothered at all.

Well, he had to thank the female trainer at least. She had been a good wake up call to get Calem on his feet as well as his team. Digging in his bag, he produced two pokeballs and returned his Meowstic and Absol to their circular homes. He might as well start heading towards the city now.

“I’m Calem, by the way,” the male spoke, figuring it would be polite to introduce himself, “and don’t worry about what happened earlier.” Just a small reminder incase the young female trainer was still worried about that.

"Are you heading to Luminose City?" he then questioned, turning his attention to her once he pocketed the pokeballs back in his shoulder bag. Then again, it was the only way to go from this route.

Lilycove was on watch. No means was it confirmed dangerous, but the reports were still nothing for Steven to sneeze at. He had to keep watch. He had to be careful. This girl, the blonde before him, didn’t know anything. She really must’ve been a new arrival. In that case, Steven could do to warn her to be on the lookout, just in case. Those reporters, though, they really didn’t help, but there weren’t many, and Steven was used to them. They really wouldn’t do to get into the business of everything. No use concerning the regional public.

“It’s all right,” Steven said, letting her speak once again. What could he tell her, other than it was time to be cautious? He didn’t want to spoil her arrival so quickly, especially when he hadn’t even caught her name. There were shouts, plenty of them, in the distance – a popular coordinator had made their appearance. A typical thing around here.

Steven was about to properly inform her of everything needed to be said in vague ordinance to her question of what was wrong, but she was quickly addressed and pushed away. So, her name was Darcy? Now he really should have introduced himself, but he merely managed a nod and a “Be on the lookout” before she was out of easy vocal reach. He glanced around, wondering what she could be doing in a town like this, right now. Contests? Probably. People liked the city, for the department store and for the contests.

Steven decided to continue gathering information; he could tell the act was soon to come.

Oh, she really hoped that her Swirlix hadn’t been too much of a disturbance, but the male trainer had passed it off with a light chuckle. Carrie was relieved, really, something that also reflected with her Pokemon as well, as they all displayed relaxing tension at his dismissal. She took a moment to look at his Pokemon, and him too. His were… quieter than hers, but that was fine! Her Pokemon just really loved playing and exploring. Too much so to handle sometimes.

“Nice to meet you, Calem. I’m Carrie,” Carrie said as she put her Munchlax back in the PokeBall she had just gotten back and then returned her Swirlix as well, her Froakie taking to her shoulder. The little guy hadn’t evolved yet, but she figured that he might soon.

“I am!” Carrie nodded, her Froakie doing the same. There was only Luminose to go, anyway, and Carrie knew the city pretty well from it being basically her home away from home. Getting there had always been the less than easy feat. “I’m Luminose bound. I planned on checking around the shops and everything.”

Really, she loved Luminose. She knew it was just about time to start heading that way too, since she was all ready to go, and the path was just that much clearer. She quickly whispered to her Froakie to behave and to calm down, as the protective frog examined Calem, but eventually, the frog accepted Calem as friendly and safe. She stepped forward, ready to move on!

"Who was that?" her manager questioned, glancing over her shoulder to the man that Darcy was previously talking to.

Darcy took a glance over her shoulder as well albeit she didn't look for too long unlike her manager. She had just caught what the silver blue haired male said before she was dragged away. Be on the look out? For those suspicious people that the man was inquiring about?

"I don't know. Some detective, I think?" Darcy replied nonchalantly, adding a small shrug as well.

Her manager didn't press anymore, leading the blonde haired female to the motel entrance. Darcy had tuned out her manager's rambles—complaining about how unbelievable it was that the motel staff didn't have their room prepared when they first arrived. Heading towards their prepared room, Darcy’s manager was quick to leave Darcy as she headed off to her own room. Darcy opened her door with a swipe of her keycard, stepping in and closing the door behind her.

A sigh escaped her lips as she walked deeper into the room, stretching her arms over her head. Her eyes landed on her shoulder bag which held her Pokemon. No doubt they wanted to stretch their legs as well, Darcy thought as she moved to grab the bag and unzip it. Only to notice that two Pokeballs were missing—only one laid within the bag. Brows furrowing in confusion, Darcy set the bag down and began to check her luggage. She wouldn’t misplace them for she always put her Pokemon in her shoulder bag. However, no matter how many times she searched, she couldn’t mind her missing Pokemon.
Panic struck her, remembering that suspicious activity was happening around the city. Could Pokemon theft be that said activity? Darcy was quick to slung her bag over her shoulder and rushed out her room. Once outside, Darcy scanned the area around her for a moment, looking for the man she met early. Unfortunately, she couldn’t find him and thus settled for rushing to the nearest police officer she could find.

【☆】

Calem gave a small nod, a small grin tugging at his lips. “Ah, I’m heading there as well. Do you mind if we head there together?” he asked, fixing the strap on his bag while waiting for her answer. He hoped it wouldn’t be a bother at all and since they were heading the same way… it would be convenient.

He wouldn’t stick with her once they reached the city, not wanting to seem like he was clingy or anything. Besides, he assumed that they were both rather new to Luminose City anyways, right? He had someone to meet there anyways.

Glancing at his Quilladin, he decided to have the Pokemon return to their circular home as well just for the moment. Putting the Pokeball back into his bag, Calem studied Carrie for a moment.

"Um, you wouldn't happen to know where Professor Sycamore's lab is within the city, do you?" he questioned, having some feeling that maybe the female trainer might just know. But it was just a small feeling and of course, it wouldn't hurt to try to ask, right?

Calem rubbed the back of his neck as he waited for her answer to his question, looking off in a different direction.

"If you don't know then that's okay, I'm sure I'll be able to find it." he then quickly added in case the girl felt like she wasn't much help in providing knowledge that Calem needed.

Taking to investigating and gaining information else, Steven Stone wanted to be a good champion for the people of Hoenn, protecting them from panic and from danger. He had to move, of course, since activity of the suspicious variety was spreading pretty quickly. He had to proceed with caution.

“Thank you for your time,” Steven said as he walked away from another civilian interview. He was clear on the otherside of the city by this point. Lilycove needed to be quelled back to normal.

Steven Stone, sir, we just received report of a possible Pokemon theft near the hotel.”

The hand radio sputtered out the news and Steven knew what he had to do. The hotel? He had been there not long ago. The theft might’ve happened at a different time, but it depended on the circumstances, such as where the Pokeballs were stored. Either way, he’d be on the forefront of helping to solve this out.

“Ma’am, we’ll do everything we can,” a police officer said to a female who was the said victim of the theft. Steven recognized her instantly as the woman he had been talking to earlier.

“I’m here to help,” Steven said, nodding at her. “Could you explain anything you know?” There had been reports before, too, of Pokemon theft. They had possible areas of the criminals’ secret base somewhere nearby, but the team on that matter had to finish investigating. They’d do all they could, however.

~~**~~

“I don’t mind!” Carrie chirped. Why would she, anyway? She would have company, however short the trip, and that, in itself, was really nice. One of the goals of her journey was to make new friends, see new sights in multiple ways; this was an opportunity. Carrie was going to take it, of course.

Letting her Froakie stay on her shoulder, she smiled and patted the little frog on his head. Carrie loved to have company, even for a minute. Travelling without others could be lonely; though, that was coming from a girl that grew up in a big family.

“Professor… Sycamore’s… lab… Oh, I know exactly where that is! I’ve never really been there, but I used to pass it all the time. I think Dad went in there a few times before…” She took a moment to think before nodding, “I can help you get there.”

“Froakie!”

“See! ‘Eleu agrees!” Carrie was happy, really. “Let’s be off!” She said. Normally, she’d go straight to roller skates, but that was habit born by roller skates being popular in her hometown. With someone going with her, however, she took to walking without her skates readied.

Luminose never seemed so inviting. She walked quickly, since it really wasn’t that far, and looked over the sights. The grasses, the playing wild Pokemon, everything.

“Professor Sycamore’s lab is just over this way,” Carrie said, turning after they went through the small route-transition building.

“Welcome to Luminose City!” She announced. She loved the city so much and it had been awhile since she had been there.

Panic gripped Darcy's heart as well as formed a lump in her throat. She had found the nearest officer she could find; spluttering out her distress as well as waving her hands. Never in her life has she felt so vulnerable—so terrified! She couldn't even bring herself to think of the possibilities that might happen to her Pokemon. It wasn't that she didn't have some faith in her two missing Pokemon, they could take care of themselves, yes? Then again, she never tested the theory—nor would she ever.

After taking a few deep breaths that the officer before her instructed, she repeated the situation. She chewed at her lips out of nerves when the officer radioed in whoever the hell they we radioing. She didn't even register the officer's assurance, her thoughts were in turmoil with everything.

When she heard another voice speak, her head snapped up in attention; briefly surprised by the familiar face she saw. Of course, he was some sort of detective, right? She should have known that they would call him over.

"It's my pokemon—well two of them actually. I went up to my hotel room once it ready and I planned to let my team out and about, b-but... when I opened the bag, they were gone!" Darcy explained to the steel blue haired male, clenching the strap of her bag tighter.

【☆】

Calem couldn't help but let a wide smile cross his lips. Fixing the bag on his shoulder and straightening his hat, he followed closely behind Carrie—well, not too close. When the female trainer announced her warm greeting to him from the city, Calem felt in awe with the sights. Lumiose city was surely a breath taking place; not to mention large as well. Not wonder it was major industry for tourism.

He turned in a full circle, taking in the sights from the buildings to the activity of people and pokemon. It would take him a while to travel to all the shops, cafés, and restaurants—not to mention the pokemon gym as well. But, he had a guide with him, so he wouldn't be so lost.

"It's so huge!" Calm exclaimed with a breath, turning to look back to Carrie.

It would be rather hard to find Professor Sycamore's lab with all these buildings close together... he would have to memorize the way Carrie lead him a few times before he knew his way around. Well... to add to the list, Lumiose city seemed a bit intimidating now.
