Aretha rubbed the back of her neck, glancing about. She was wandering the city of Lumiose. The place was huge. Already, she had to stop several times just to ask for directions.

She was frazzled. If it hadn't been for her missing Deino, she wouldn't be in this situation. She would have moved on long ago.

Her Deino was still rather young and rebellious. In fact, he was only days old. He'd only just recently hatched. Since then, her life had been a bit of a nightmare. The Pokemon caused so much trouble. It was difficult to even get him into his Pokeball.

Aretha glanced upward, catching the sight of a shadow. Above, Aphrodite, her Noivern descended. It seemed she had found nothing and returned for a report. Aretha sighed as she landed.

"Nothing, huh?" She asked. She reached out, patting the large dragon Pokemon. "We have to keep looking. He'll cause someone else trouble at some point or another."

She was met with a soft cry of agreement. Only a moment later did Aphrodite spread her wings, lifting herself into the air again. A few powerful flaps, and she was off again.

Ketu wasn't afraid to attack people. He'd bite and headbutt people all he liked. Aretha had to wonder if she'd taken on a bit more then she could chew with this little dragon. She was finding out that was more then true.

"Where are you, Ketu?" She asked, only to herself.

Clemont had taken the opportunity to get out and about from Prism Tower and enjoy the day. His little sister was driving him nuts as it was anyways. Then again, Clemont supposed that was what little sisters were for anyhow.

He ran a hand through his hair, taking a moment to shove his glasses back up his nose. The sun was bright out here, brighter than what he had grown used to. Maybe he spent a little to much time inside...

The thought was broken as soon as he caught sight of a little black and blue pokémon dashing about and looking quite cheerful about it. Several people dashed away from it as it snapped and charged though the entire time it just looked like it was having fun.

Clemont gusted out a sigh about that. Reaching for a pokéball Clemont hoped this wouldn't be too much trouble. He'd rather avoid any damage to the city just to keep a troublemaker in line.

"Emolga, come on out!"

With a cry the little pokémon burst forth in a flash of light, sparks all ready flying from his cheeks. The pokémon seemed to like the idea of a challenge, if the way it acted was any indication. At the very least Clemont could work to paralyze it for the moment, try to find its trainer later. Just one attack from the opposition would all it would take to do just that...

"Aerial Ace!"

Lilith wasn't sure what she should expect from the new job. It wasn't something that was a normal one for her. In fact, helping out as a professor's assistant hadn't been anything she'd envision herself ever doing. Still, Lilith couldn't afford to be picky in recent years, trying to get things sorted out in her life.

The TMZ train rumbled under her, the countryside of Kalos beginning to disappear in favor of the city outside the window. At the very least she could enjoy the train ride, never having been on one before. She just hoped that professor would be waiting at the station like she'd been told he would.

Headphones shoved in her ears she paid little attention to the other passengers as it was, humming along with the song that played. Her Pokémon were safely tucked away in their pokéballs and in her bag. She'd let them out a little later to stretch, when things had been sorted out.

Eventually the train began to slow, other passengers all ready gathering up their things. Lilith waited until it came to a full stop before she tugged out the headphones, storing the music player away in her bag as she stood to exit. It was a quick process to get off, Lilith had the great luck of being in a compartment with fewer passengers.

Lilith glanced back and forth, eyeing everyone in the crowd. It wasn't as busy as she'd expected, a breath of fresh air for a city like Lumiose. In truth she wasn't quite sure what she was looking for. A tall, lanky guy with dark hair could mean anyone, after all.

With a gusty sigh she stepped forward. Better get to searching for the guy.

Aretha had continued to wander the city. She wasn't sure how much time had passed by. Ketu had still not been found. Worry gnawed at her because of that. She didn't want the little Pokemon causing any trouble.

Her answer eventually came when Aphrodite flew overhead. She flew fast, crying out. Aretha took that as a good sign, following after. She ran after the large Noivern, hoping that she'd found something.

Aretha noticed she was heading toward the tower. She'd checked there earlier though, had found nothing at the time. Perhaps he'd returned there.

As they neared the area, she was surprised to see Aphrodite swoop down and land heavily. She let out a warning, a loud cry, flapping her wings. It made the Noivern look much larger then she really was.

A moment later, Aretha noticed Ketu standing just behind Aphrodite. He looked as if he was going to turn tell and run. Aretha reached out, scooping the little Pokemon into her arms. She tucked him under one arm, reaching out with her free hand to pat Aphrodite.

"Easy!" She spoke up. "I've got him, it's okay!"

Aphrodite snorted in response, shrinking down a little. She eyed Ketu, who was trying to thrash his way out of Aretha's grasp.

"You're all going to be the death of me..." She noted sarcastically.

She puffed out a sigh, glancing about. Several bystanders had stopped and stared. Aretha shook her head, glancing down at Ketu. He looked as if he wasn't bothered at all.

"You've caused enough trouble to last a lifetime." She said, fishing for his pokeball. It was much easier to get him back in now that she had a hold on him. With that done, she sighed again, rubbing the back of her neck.

"Sorry about that," She called out, her hand falling back to her side.

Despite the apology, most didn't appear forgiving. She shook her head at that. It was the most she was able to offer.

Sycamore had been waiting on someone. A new assistant was supposed to meet him. He'd chosen to meet at a nearby cafe. The lab wasn't far off from the area. In the very least, she would be able to spot both easily.

Or at least, that's what he hoped for. The city was a big place and many newcomers got lost. In the very least, she could take a taxi or ask for directions. Most people tried to use them when they could.

He had to wonder about this new assistant. Her name was Lilith. He didn't have much information on her. For the most part, he didn't mind that. Learning about people first hand seemed like a better idea. The most he had was a picture and a little information on her occupation.

Sycamore hummed slightly in response, leaning back. He spared a glance around, trying to pick out the girl among others. He caught a few ogling him. A small smile tugged at his lips. It was something he'd long since gotten used to. Word had more or less spread about his appearance. Many women seemed to fancy him.

Time passed slowly. He listened to conversations around him. Some were speaking of a little Pokemon that was causing trouble near the tower. He would have enjoyed seeing what this little Pokemon was doing. Regardless, it was filed away for another time.

Blinking, he finally caught sight of Lilith. She seemed to be seeking him out as well. Sycamore raised a hand, waving at her.

"Lilith!" He called out. "Over here!"

She looked startled for a brief moment. At least he'd caught her attention. Now perhaps they could get started.

It thankfully wasn't much of a battle. The little thing had dodged around the Aerial Ace Emolga had loosed and then a larger Pokémon had arrived, protecting the little thing from Clemont and Emolga.

Clemont held up his hands, hoping to show that he meant no harm to either of them. If anything if that Noivern had it settled then Clemont would let him have at it. So long as the littler Pokémon wasn't causing trouble for Lumiose's patrons anymore then Clemont had no problems with either.

"No argument here," Clemont announced, allowing Emolga to leap up onto his shoulder.

It wasn't any longer than that did a girl come running up. She looked to be about his age, her blue hair blending in with her coat and pants. She looked pretty sloppy in appearance compared to the other girls Clemont was used to seeing around here.

He walked closer, pushing his glasses back up his nose. His backpack sat heavy on his shoulders though he'd long since gotten used to its weight. Emolga chittered in his ear, perhaps annoyed at the interruption.

"You've got a rambunctious Pokémon there," Clemont pointed out when he was close enough. "Do you think you can handle him?"

He'd rather not see the creature rampaging around Lumiose again, however innocent his intentions were. He couldn't recall the name of that specific Pokémon but he did not they could be quite dangerous if left to their own devices. They weren't exactly gentle, after all.

Lumiose City was a confusing place, or it had been the last time she'd been here. That had been a few years ago and she'd long since avoided the place if she could. Now she had no choice but to return.

Having to wander about looking for this little cafe was a pain. If her Pokémon had had any bearing in the city she would have relied on them to help her find it. Since that wasn't the case Lilith had wandered, feeling like she'd probably gone too far.

She jerked, startled at the suddenness of someone calling out for her. Lilith blinked around, catching sight of a lanky guy waving to her. Hiking her bag into a more comfortable position on her shoulder, Lilith started towards him.

"Professor Sycamore, I take it?" she said when she was close enough. Lilith took the time to study him now that she was closer as well.

He was a lanky fellow and he'd probably be taller than her when he stood up. His hair was dark, some of it falling into his face. That didn't seem to bother the professor, however. If she had to say so he was pretty handsome...

Shifting her bag again, she attempted to ignore the weight of it. The laptop she had was heavy as it was on its own. With everyone else shoved into it it only caused the strap to bite into her shoulder harder.

Unsure of what to say, Lilith nodded towards him. "Nice to meet you," she finally said.

Aretha puffed out a sigh. She hadn't meant for Ketu to cause trouble. Deino were hard to deal with. Someone had given her the egg, only telling her that it was of a dragon type. She knew she should have asked more about it...

She blinked, lifting her head slightly. A blond approached her, speaking up. She gave a smile, pushing the incident behind her.

"He's...new, for lack of better words." She answered. "He doesn't like to listen but it's not uncommon, especially for his type."

In the very least, she was knowledgeable for dragon types. Most were rather stubborn and hard to handle. Deino was just a special case, already being a bit of a handful simply by it's attitude. Aretha tried to reason that being blind would do that to anyone.

"He didn't mean to cause any harm, I swear." She added. "I think he just wanted to play. He just has a funny way of showing it."

Some wouldn't consider it funny. She shook her head a moment later. Honestly, she just couldn't be bothered to make too many excuses for something that could have been avoided.

"My names Aretha." She introduced instead. "This here is Aphrodite."

The large Noivern snorted, still seemingly unamused by the situation. Aretha puffed out another sigh. She'd let a troubling event happen in the city. She wasn't exactly proud of that.

Sycamore motioned for her to sit. They'd stay here a while, enjoy the sights if they could. She appeared a tad tired despite these. He had to guess that some of her trip was rather exhausting.

Still, silently he admitted that she was prettier in person. No need to appear too forward yet, however. He might scare her off doing as such.

"That's right." He answered a moment later. "It's nice to meet you, Lilith."

He studied her briefly as she took a seat. She seemed to appreciate having that bag off her shoulder. A nice rest might have been appreciated as well. It had to be a long trip, after all.

"I hope everything was fine getting over here." He started, motioning toward her. "Seems there was some ruckus in the city earlier. Wondered if you'd gotten caught up in it."

Whatever it was, at least it blew over. Sycamore knew that little things could grind the city to a halt, after all. Regardless, she'd at least gotten here.

"Would you like something to drink? Tea, coffee? Anything at all?"

He would wait until she'd answer. He fancied tea himself. In the very least, something to relax a little would help her out. She still appeared rather tired.

Clemont nodded, listening to the girl rattle on about the little dragon Pokémon. It still wasn't much of an excuse but at least she wasn't entirely shoving responsibility off. That was a nice change. The last time a Pokémon had acted up the trainer had denied it being his fault, driving Clemont up a wall about it.

Emolga scoffed, shaking his head. Clemont patted the little critter between the ears to quiet him. There wasn't a need to start anything now that the dragon's trainer was here.

"Maybe keeping it in sight would help a little more," Clemont pointed out. It seemed like the Pokémon had darted off when the girl's back had been turned.

Soon enough Clemont had a name to the face, his gaze darted between her and the Noivern. Noivern didn't look to happy about it all. At the very least no one was standing around blaming either of them. Clemont knew of some in the city who would have done just that.

"I'm Clemont and this is Emolga," he answered, gesturing to the electric-type perched at his shoulder.

"Emol!" With that cry, Emolga launched himself into the air to circle around Noivern and Aretha before returning to his shoulder. It was a quick process, not a lot of distance to cover. Clemont shook his head, chuckling.

"Sounds like you have your hands full with your Pokémon," Clemont noted.

Lilith blinked, glancing at the empty seat. Well, if they weren't going to his lab right away there was no point in ignoring the offer. Slipping the duffel bag off of her shoulders was something of a relief, slipping it under her seat where wayward feet wouldn't be able to kick at or trip over it.

She spared a polite smile at Sycamore, nodding once as well before she fussed with her bag. Lilith had long since began living out of it. She coudln't afford for anything to happen to it. Only once she was sure it was safely under her seat did she straighten.

"Ah?" She shook her head. If there had been something happening in Lumiose she'd missed it entirely. "No, I had just gotten off the train just a little while ago."

Leaning on the table, she inclined her head briefly. Despite living in and traveling around Kalos for the past ten years it still surprised her when anyone offered anything. In a way she felt bad, too. Lilith didn't have a lot to give back...

"If you're offering, tea would be nice," she admitted, pushing her bangs out of her face. They'd only fall back into place but it was a habit she'd had for years.

She wondered what was on Sycamore's mind. He seemed pleasant enough, even harmless. Lilith had to wonder how talkative he was though. She had her moments where she would not shut up though they'd been long and few between in recent years. Lilith didn't keep many close to get that talkative with, after all, other than her Pokémon.

"You weren't waiting here long, were you?" she wondered.

Aretha's grin widened a little more. At least she wasn't too far into trouble. Some people could lash out. While it had been a bit of her own carelessness, she didn't enjoy being on the opposite end of anyone's aggression.

"I might just have to invest in a lead." She answered, in a bit of a joking manner.

A moment later, he'd introduced himself and his Emogla. Aphrodite's gaze followed after the little electric Pokemon. She seemed to calm if only a little, eyes darting onto Clemont and Emogla again.

"Don't mind her, she's now always this grumpy." She said, patting her. "She just doesn't like to chase down my trouble maker."

She motioned to the pair, a wide smile on her lips. It was hard for her not to be cheerful. Most days, she was grateful just to be on the move and on her own.

"It's good to meet you both." She answered. She chuckled a little afterward. "Well, just Ketu. It took a while to get a handle on dragon Pokemon but most can agree with me now. I suppose it's just the species."

Aretha motioned to Emogla, the little Pokemon having puffed out his chest proudly. She couldn't help but find amusement in the motion.

"Do you favor electric types, then?" She inquired.

She eventually sat down, stuffing her bag under her seat. He didn't question why. There might have been several personal belongs there that she didn't want to lose. He didn't hear of too much theft in the city but who knew.

She had a nice smile. He didn't mention it out loud though, he did appreciate it. Things like this were better left unsaid for the time being.

"Well, I'm glad you didn't have any trouble." He responded, motioning to her.

Lilith leaned forward, studying her surroundings. She lived in the region for quite some time. Still, she'd been traveling as well. Maybe things had changed since coming here last.

A moment later, she answered. It was simple to flag down a waiter. Handing off the orders, he turned his attention back to her. She looked to be trying to relax. If anything, he was glad she wasn't the bashful type.

"Not long, no." He answered. "The lab isn't too far from here anyways. I like to stroll around once in a while, so it was nice to get out. Given the hustle of the city, you'll have to expect it quite often."

He tilted his head slightly motioning to her. "Perhaps you'll join me on and off while you're here?" He suggested.

If anything, it would be a good time to get to know each other. He rather found he wanted to know her. Then again, maybe he'd just become a bit of a ladies man in recent years.

Clemont couldn't help but to smile back a little as Aretha grinned. At least she wasn't one to take thing too seriously. Clemont often landed himself into trouble because a girl couldn't take some criticism. It was a nice change of pace.

"A leash might be a good idea, if he doesn't chomp right through it anyways," he said. Clemont didn't doubt that the Pokémon might, after all.

He shook his head, not at all offended by Noivern's behavior. As far as Clemont knew many could be pretty ill-tempered at little things. As long as Noivern didn't hurt anyone or cause any damage then it wasn't a problem.

Clemont blinked, turning to glance at Emolga. He met Clemont's gaze evenly before the boy had turned to Aretha. "You could say that," he admitted.

It didn't seem like Aretha knew he was the gym leader here. Maybe that was a good thing. At least he wouldn't be badgered about a battle while he was enjoying a walk through Lumiose City. Not a lot of trainers were patient now-a-days, demanding a battle immediately upon finding him. Some just didn't get that gym leaders had a life, too.

"Are you new to Lumiose?" Clemont ventured.

She'd taken to looking around, taking note of those nearby. There were all sorts of people wandering about or sitting and enjoying a drink or a bite to eat in the cafe itself. In fact a Furfrou was nestled up near someone's feet, taking a nap as its trainer read a book.

"Well, unless you count some kid's Zigzagoon acting up on the train it was all right," she noted.

She watched a moment, studying Sycamore as he spoke to the waiter he'd had come on over. It was a quick exchange, the order a simple one. Still, from the way he moved and spoke he seemed like a pretty easygoing guy. Lilith certainly hoped that was the case. She'd worked with difficult people in the past, especially so when designing for someone. It'd be a breath of fresh air if this wasn't the case.

Lilith nodded as he turned back to her, answering the question. At the very least he didn't seem put out by any wait for her arrival. Lilith only had to wonder what sort of work he'd have for her as this assistant of his. It wasn't like she was some scientist or anything that he'd have use for...

The question he asked caught her off guard. It wasn't the first time she'd been invited out and about by someone. Apparently she was pretty cute and could draw an eye or two. Still, she'd always had more interest in doing her own thing than to hang out...

"Uhm... I don't suppose it would hurt," she relented.

If nothing else she could be polite about it. It was often she was told that she threw herself too into her work at times anyways. Lilith didn't feel that it was her fault. At the very least she got things done, even if she ended up so into what she was doing that she forgot to eat or do something else...

"Are you always this friendly with newcomers?" she wondered.

She felt a little more relaxed knowing that he wasn't going to give her trouble. In fact, he'd simply smiled back. She was glad. Given where they were, there could have been a lot more trouble.

Aretha figured if the authorities weren't getting involved, she didn't have much to worry about. She loathed to admit she had a few close calls in the past.

"That's a terribly good point," She answered, with a slight chuckle.

She had to admit, it was interesting to know of another trainer who favored types. Most liked to have a variety of them. She admitted that that method had it's advantages. Still, she preferred her dragons.

Aretha shook her head in response to his question. Beside her, Aphrodite nuzzled her snout into her palm, demanding attention.

"We've passed through here a few times." She answered. "But we never stay too long. Too many people. I've enjoyed life outside the city, is all."

She didn't admit it out loud but it was mostly out of a slight self consciousness that she didn't often stay. People were rather tacky here, or at least some of them could be. It was just a matter of avoidance.

He hoped that Lilith would like the sights of the city. She seemed to study them, even now. It was a lot of hustle and bustle but most grew used to it in time. Getting used to the new environment might be an experience for her.

Sycamore offered a chuckle to her story. "Quite willy ones, they are." He answered. "Might I ask what Pokemon you've collected in your time?"

It was something that he always was fascinated about. Some favored only one type while others liked a variety. Every person had a different taste. Rarely, did he meet two people alike, even when they chose to only train one type of Pokemon.

He didn't say it but he did feel her studying him. That was a feeling he'd gotten used to a long time ago. Since coming here and doing his research, there were quite a few women who fancied him.

"That's good to hear!" He answered lightly. "I'm sure you'll enjoy it in the city!"

A walk or two would be a good way to get her acquainted with not only the city but each other as well. Sycamore did like to know his people on a bit of a personal level, after all. Lilith wasn't any different.

He tilted his head slightly, the smile still on his lips. "Ah, why would I not be?" He inquired, motioning toward her. "I haven't offended you, have I?"

Clemont smiled a little bigger as Aretha chuckled. She had a nice voice, if he had to admit to that. She seemed to have a nice personality to boot.

"I'm sure you'll figure something out," he assured, shrugging his shoulders.

Clemont listened to her answer, even as her Noivern nuzzled into her. It was a nice change of pace to see after seeing the dragon-type so grumpy. At least Clemont wouldn't have to worry about Noivern causing any trouble for Lumiose City and its citizens.

He shook his head at the admittance however. Never stuck around to see the sights? That seemed like a waste of what the city had to offer! Emolga snorted, seemingly in agreement with Clemont's thoughts.

"You've missed out on a lot then," he noted. "If you want we can walk around the city for awhile. If you wouldn't mind the company, in any case!"

Clemont had hopes that Aretha would agree. It wasn't often that he got to hang around a cute girl, even if she didn't seem to wear very flattering clothes. At the very least she wasn't overbearing about what she wore. Clemont could appreciate that much.

Lilith scoffed, more out of amusement than anything else. Zigzagoon could certainly be a handful in the wrong hands. She'd learned that long ago. She was thankful that Mika was no longer quite so much trouble anymore.

She paused, thinking about Sycamore's question. She'd run into quite a fair share of Pokémon in her time. Many she'd caught and trained only to trade or give to someone else. It just didn't felt right to release them after all that hard work and bonding. At least she could still see them every so often.

"I've got some all over the place, actually," she admitted, pushing her hair back out of her face again. "But if you're asking which ones I have on hand that'd be easier to say."

A moment passed in which Lilith waited for Sycamore to answer. When she received the go ahead she ticked off her team on hr fingers. It had been a full one for quite some time, her pride and joy, really.

"There's Mawile, Chesnaught, Meowstic, Liepard, Linoone and a Flaaffy."

She waited then, wondering what the professor might say about that. Surely he wouldn't have asked just for his own healthy. Of course she'd been told on more than one occasion that it was possible to figure a person out by the Pokémon they favored as well. For all she knew that was what Sycamore was interested in.

At the request to join Sycamore every so often out and about in Lumiose he seemed pretty stoked about it. It was kind of cute, actually, though she kept that thought to herself.

Lilith blinked, a little taken back by the question. She held up her hands in a placating manner even if Sycamore didn't look offended by it. In fact, he looked a little amused.

"No, just curious," she said simply before she leaned on her elbows again.

Aretha couldn't help but notice that large grin. In hindsight, she hadn't been interested in too many boys throughout her years. Most she'd known were simply friends and she couldn't push passed seeing them as anything more.

Still, time and time again, she wondered if she wasn't trying hard enough. It was something she pushed passed. If someone didn't like her for her personality, she was fine with it.

"I'm gonna have to!" She responded lightly. "He's a little devil! I don't know what I'll do when he gets bigger!"

She blinked, a little surprised by the reaction. Was it odd that she didn't explore the city. It was so big though. Most of the time, she just ended up lost. Then again, it wasn't as if she was asking locals to help.

The offer her made was a nice one though, she couldn't deny that.

"Well, I wouldn't mind at all," she replied. "It's nice of you to offer. I'm not taking up any of your time through, right?"

She didn't want to be a burden to anyone. If that was the case, a tour around the city could wait. She glanced down at Aphrodite. It would only take a moment to fish out her Pokeball. Having such a large Pokemon wandering around wouldn't do anyone any good. Calling the large Noivern back, she tucked her away for the time being.

"You live here, then?" She inquired further. "You must know some of the best places here, hmm?"

If anything, he'd have an idea of where to go, no doubt. Aretha was a little grateful about that.

Sycamore watched her carefully. He couldn't deny being a little anxious about learning of her Pokémon. These creatures were more then just a hobby. He was excited to know what she might carry.

She seemed to mull over it before she spoke. What she did say interested him a great deal. She made it sound as if she parted with the others.

"Am I to assume you've released your others?" He asked.

His curiosity was a bit peeked now. Did she train and release? He couldn't see what she'd gain doing that. Perhaps it was seeking out a specific type or maybe she simply wanted to learn about may Pokémon.

Eventually, she listed off her team. He had to admit, it had an interesting variety to it. From the sounds of it, it seemed she favored more dark types. There was still a mix of variety there, however.

"You've an interesting team with you!" He commented instead. "Might I ask if you've favored those dark types of yours? What influenced your choice in your starter?"

Questions could tumble out of his mouth. He tried to reign them in. Overwhelming Lilith wasn't his intention. He was merely curious.

"I'm glad to hear it." He said after a moment. "I would not want to offend a pretty lady such as yourself."

Clemont shared Aretha's concern with her Pokémon's size. As he was no he was a handful. He hoped, for Aretha's sake at least, that the Pokémon would calm as it grew. For all Clemont knew it could be the exact opposite.

He shook his head. Of course he hadn't been up to much. The string of trainers he'd battled in the last two weeks had finally trickled down to just a fair few here and there. Clemont could only figure that the schools had let their handful of students who wished to travel go this time of year or something.

"No, I was just out on a walk myself," he admitted. He gestured for Aretha to follow before he waited. He wouldn't head off without her in the crowds Lumiose could gather.

Clemont glanced towards the direction of Prism Tower. It was high above many of the other buildings and if it had been nighttime it would have been quite a sight to see. Maybe he'd offer to show her later in the evening if she stuck around...

"I live in the tower, actually," Clemont mentioned, wondering if she'd piece it together. Was she even aware there was a gym leader here? Just as many people didn't seem to be.

He started them off, keeping an even pace. Emolga remained perched on his shoulder, enjoying his time outside of a pokéball. Clemont wouldn't begrudge him some fresh air.

Lilith leaned back in her seat, shaking her head. It wasn't that she released them per say... It as kind of difficult to explain. Or maybe it was just something uncommon for trainers to do that it was hard to convey. Some breeders took to the tactic, Lilith knew that much.

"No, not released." Lilith paused, trying to think of the best way to explain it. "More like they're in the care of someone else for the time being because I had nowhere for them to stay at while my team was full."

She paused then, rubbing the back of her neck. Did that make sense at all? To Lilith it had. She wasn't a pokédex holder so she'd had no professor to turn to to take care of all of the extra Pokémon she'd captured and would later train. This had been a good alternative and it made people happy. There was one old man in Anistair City she'd need to check on soon who'd taken her Caterpie for company...

Lilith was surprised at the interest Sycamore showed in her team. Honestly many of her Pokémon were ones that people scoffed at. The sudden change was a bit jarring.

"I suppose I do, a little... Uhm... At the time my brother had promised me a fire-type he'd trade to me so Fennekin was out of the question at the time. Chespin had been my second choice at the time."

A thoughtful look remained on Lilith's face. She wasn't sure if that was a good enough answer or not. Maybe it didn't shed light on much of anything. Then again she hadn't expected a professor to be so gung-ho about asking her such things.

Chuckling she shook her head. She hadn't been expecting the compliment! "I'd like to hope you didn't take me on as an assistant just for a pretty face around your lab," she teased.

Aretha followed after him, her pace a little quick to catch up. Afterward, she fell into step, sparring a glance back toward him. Clemont seemed rather friendly. It was a nice change of pace to be around people again.

"Good, I'd rather not take you from anything important." She answered lightly in reply.

She blinked, her gaze tipping up to the tower. It was the highest building there. She'd heard it was the gym as well. Aretha didn't pay much mind to the league and due to that, she didn't know all the gym leaders.

Her gaze finally drifted back toward him. "Ah, so you're the gym leader then, right?" She inquired. She smiled sheepishly, a nervous chuckle passing her. "Sorry I didn't realize earlier! I never paid much mind to the league or the gyms!"

Maybe if she'd taken some interest, she would have met him and many others long ago. Still, Aretha preferred it this way. Things might have been different if they'd met sooner.

Sycamore leaned back, rubbing his chin. That was an interesting way to do things. Most trainers either thought it best to release their Pokemon or did it for selfish reasons. She gave them to people who would care about them.

"Magnificent." He answered. "You've done something most other trainers wouldn't think of. My, you're setting yourself apart form the rest!"

It wasn't something he'd heard of before. Sure, some trainers gave up their Pokemon but not like this. He was glad to hear it. Lilith was proving to be a very interesting person.

When she finally went on, he sat back and listened. At some point, the waiter had returned with his order. Sycamore had thanked him quickly, never missing what she was saying.

"You seem happy with the choice, regardless." He carried on. "I'm rather glad to have met such an interesting trainer."

Sycamore couldn't help but grin at her words. So she had a bit of a lax side as well. That was nice to see. He wanted her to feel comfortable with her stay here.

"Well, perhaps I would," he answered, his tone light. "Though, I suppose that wouldn't be very professional of me, hmm?"

It was a light prod. Honestly, Sycamore didn't so much mind. That didn't mean others didn't. Regardless, it wasn't something that bothered him too much.

Clemont shook his head, having started them off. If he'd had something important to get to he'd probably have run off all ready after dealing with that troublesome Pokémon of hers. Or rather his sister would have been nagging at him to hurry. Clemont felt lucky that she'd chosen to stay behind and chat with some friends of hers near the tower.

"It's no trouble," he said dismissively.

He spared a glance at Aretha as she blinked towards the large tower. It took a moment or two before realization dawned on her. Clemont chuckled at that. He couldn't help it. Not many trainers didn't know who he was.

"Yep! That'd be me!" If he was boasting a little, he felt it was a bit deserved.

Clemont shook his head, not at all bothered. Better than her knowing everything about him! At least this way she might get to know him without any preconceived thoughts about him in place. It was always a worry for Clemont.

"Where are you from anyways?" he wondered. Emolga chattered loudly, as if to add to the question.

Lilith wasn't sure what kind of a response she was expecting. Whatever it had been it wasn't Sycamore's. Feeling a little self-conscious about the praise Lilith began to fuss with her hair, pushing her bangs back out of her face once, twice, three times.

"Uh, sure! If you say so..."

More questions had come, to which Lilith tried her best to answer. Their waiter had come then, to which Lilith had begun toying with her drink. Spinning it around on its coaster as she talked became an absentminded thing to do along the course of the conversation.

She smiled, not quite sure about the compliment. Lilith always worried that she was too annoying when she opened up or just flat out boring. She kept that thought to herself, however.

"I'd like to think so," she admitted, concerning the choice she'd made with Chespin. Starting Pokémon were important, after all.

Sycamore certainly looked quite handsome when he grinned and smiled like that. Lilith wondered briefly if he had anyone in his life. Surely that sort of grin could win anyone's heart over. She wouldn't bother asking. It both wasn't her place to ask and wasn't anything she was actively seeking anyways.

"Oh, I'm quite sure you'd have more than a few people upset with you for something like that," she said lightly. "Lucky for you I'm not only a pretty face but a good worker, too."

There was a pause in which Lilith took the opportunity to take a drink of her tea. It wouldn't do anyone any good to just forget it was even there. Sadly that often happened with anything she grabbed to eat or drink while she worked.

Clemont looked proud of his status as gym leader. If she had been, she probably would feel the same. Then again, she was the one who hadn't known. Maybe he boasted about it because others didn't know either.

She couldn't tell. They'd just met, after all, so who knew. Aretha felt a little bad about it though. It seemed like it should have been common knowledge.

"You seem very proud of that!" She noted lightly.

Clemont didn't seem to mind that she didn't know him at first. Maybe that was for the best. He probably met a lot of people who came and went. A chance at a regular meeting seemed like a rare occasion.

She glanced at him again, stuffing her hands in her jacket pockets. It'd been a long time since she'd been home. Not since that weapon had been drawn out of the ground.

"Geosenge Town," she answered. "Though, I haven't been there in a while. Can't really say if it's been all repaired or not."

She didn't feel the need to go much further then that. Most of Kalos knew that story. Some people in other regions did as well. A lot of people were hurt in her home town. It wasn't something she often delved into.

He couldn't help but find her rather cute. She fussed with her hair or shifted nervously when complimented. Maybe it wasn't something she was used to. Most women at this age were rather confident.

Admittedly, he found it a nice change of pace. Seeing someone so shy for a change was nice.

"You make it sound as if you don't give yourself enough credit!" He answered lightly.

He honestly couldn't be sure why. Most people wouldn't go out of their way. Still, ensuring happiness for their previous Pokemon should have been top priority. Sycamore didn't argue their choices, however. It wasn't his place.

In the brief silence, he took a moment to sip at his tea. Still, he studied her as she settled down again. She really was a cute one.

Sycamore chuckled when she finally responded. It was true enough. Regardless, if he took an interest in his worker, that was his business. Some just didn't see it that way.

"I am sure," he agreed lightly. "But it seems I've the best of both worlds when you say something like that! My, I've quite the catch now, don't I?"

She didn't seem to be uncomfortable with his flirting. That was a good sign in and of itself. Since becoming so popular, he had a bit of a habit of coming on too strong. He'd rather not do that here if he could help it.

Clemont grinned a little. Of course he was proud! He'd held the Lumiose City gym leader title for years now. It wasn't often that someone so young was picked. Usually the youngest were in their early twenties as far as Clemont knew.

"I'd like to think I deserve to be," he said lightly.

The topic of where Aretha lived came up. She'd grown a little more quiet then, stuffing her hands in her jacket pockets. Clemont wondered if it was a sore subject or not. Some didn't quite like to talk about home lives, after all.

Eventually she did and the reason for her quiet became known. Clemont rubbed the back of his neck, feeling awkward. Last he heard Geosenge Town was still recovering...

"I think they're still fixing some things up, last I heard," Clemont said, "I don't know how much more they have to go though."

At the very least it might pick her mood back up to hear that. A lot of people's lives had been uprooted or ruined for a long time because of Lysandre drawing that weapon up out of the ground. Some people had lost nearly everything when homes had been destroyed there.

"Do you have family there or anything?" he wondered.

Lilith waved a dismissive hand at the comment. Maybe she didn't though what was the harm? At least she wasn't overly arrogant. Then she'd really be an overbearing person to be around.

"Maybe, maybe not," she said in an offhand manner.

There was a lull in the conversation then though it didn't feel uncomfortable. At least, to Lilith it didn't. She took the opportunity to glance around at the people and their pokémon. There were so many colorful people wandering about, dressed in all sorts of styles. Still, it was easy to tell what was popular by a quick glance at crowds. Many wore the same sort of style over anything else.

She didn't drag her gaze away from the crowds as she spoke, not entirely. Lilith spared a brief glance to Sycamore before she'd studied those around them yet again. She chuckled at his answer.

"Well, you'll just have to figure that out now, won't you?" she pointed out.

Nearby there was a little pokémon battle happening in the street. Neither side look exceptionally strong, a little Marill on one side and a Fletchinder on the other. At the very least the two sides looked eager to prove themselves, a small crowd forming around the battlers all ready.

Aretha glanced back toward him. Her home town was a little famous now, due to what had happened. This kind of reaction wasn't anything new. A lot of people felt sympathy for those who lived there.

She'd long since moved passed it. It had shaken a lot of people at the time, herself included. Still, there some things she just had to move on from.

"That's good to hear," she answered. "For a while, I was hearing the place might be uninhabitable. They were afraid the ground was too unstable after the weapon imploded on itself."

It had been a considerable fear and one that relocated many. Her family had been included in that group.

"I did," she said, nodding after a moment. "They moved onto Unova shortly afterward. We've some family there. We grew up, poor, so we lost a lot. Guess they've taken a chance to start fresh, looking at it optimistically. Since then I've become a bit of a drifter."

Of course, she did have a place to go back to. It was simply a matter of a need or a want to. Aretha liked traveling as it was. She'd find a way back eventually.

Lilith waved off his comment. It was a good change of pass. Sweeping a girl off her feet from a passing glance or a few words had become a rather odd thing. Still, it happened once in a while, considering his popularity at this point.

She was shy but also lax. It wasn't such a bad combination. In fact, he rather liked seeing it himself.

She took the time to study those around her. People and Pokemon passed by. Some stopped and glanced at them, others walked on. The place was always busy.

"Always something to see here," He noted briefly. "So many people come through."

If anything, it served for something interesting to watch out for. He'd taken to watching these people pass over his time here. Seeing people come and go, how different each were, he appreciated it all.

He hummed lightly in response to her words. A large smile tugged at his lips. True indeed, he would have to figure her out.

"That sounds like a bit of a challenge," he replied, leaning forward. He rested his elbow on the table, motioning to her. "Perhaps I might take you up on that challenge, hmmm?"

Clemont shrugged, unsure of how Geosenge was really doing. While reconstruction was nearly finished that didn't mean the people had calmed after that scare. For all Clemont knew some areas might still be uninhabitable.

"At least they're going strong now," he answered.

He listened as Aretha gave her own answer. It was longer than what he'd expected thought at least her family was still in tact. For the most part anyways. No doubt they might be missing Aretha now.

"Do you keep in contact with 'em?" Clemont wondered. He glanced around Lumiose. If she was a drifter how long would she stay?

Trying to shake his thoughts away did little. He found he was rather interested in Aretha now. If she up and left Lumiose because she drifted his chance to know her would be gone. Clemont really hoped she'd stay here, at least for awhile. But could she afford it? Lumiose City's hotels could be quite pricey...

"So what do you plan on doing?" There was a pause as he rubbed the back of his neck. Emolga smacked him with his tail, out of sight from Aretha, considering he was on the shoulder opposite Aretha. Clemont cleared his throat before elaborating, "In the city. Or are you gonna up and leave soon?"

There had been a pause in the conversation though it wasn't an awkward one. At least to Lilith it wasn't. It gave her time to look around and see what she'd missed while traveling out and about Kalos. She hadn't had a need to return to Lumiose City for quite some time.

It didn't look as if much had changed other than fashion sense. That was ever changing though, new designers becoming popular and others becoming obsolete. As poor as she was Lilith had never been able to keep up with the trends and fads.

Sycamore spoke again, briefly drawing her attention to him. He didn't seem to mind that her attention had strayed elsewhere. At least he was easygoing. She hummed in answer.

Her attention remained on him as they carried on the conversation. A grin spread over his lips and he was quick to reply. She shook her head, smiling a little. 'Playful to boot!' It wasn't often she worked with someone who'd be her higher up, in a way, that was more willing to joke and play around rather than to get right down to work.

"Well, don't get too excited now," she teased. "I'd hate to disappoint because you got super hyped!"

She took the time then to drink her tea again. Lilith was still tired but the caffeine would help. No doubt her pokémon would like the rest. They'd been training hard the past month, trying to get the recent addition to the team caught up.

She sparred a glance at a few passersby. A lot of them were wearing what was considered 'the hot trend'. Despite the color differences or slight modifications, it was easy to see what was popular these days. Often times, it made her laugh a little.

Her attention was drawn back to him again when he spoke. It was a simple enough question. She offered a shrug.

"Sometimes," she answered. "It depends on when I can get to a Center. We'll go weeks without talking to each other." She paused briefly. Was that normal? "I guess we're just all solitary people. We don't mind."

She watched him then, really did study him. Was it her or did he appear distressed about her being a drifter? She didn't ask. Instead, she merely smiled. Eventually, he did speak up again.

"Telling," she answered lightly. "But I might stay for a while. It's been a long time since I've gotten to know anybody. And you're cute, so."

Aretha's grin widened a little more. She hadn't known anyone who could be considered so bashful. Ordinarily, she was the one with that issue. It almost seemed like he didn't know how to ask if she'd be staying or not.

"Ah, I'll have to see one of the Center's has rooms open." She noted. "At least, for a little while. Don't want to bum around there too long."

In the silence, he caught her glancing about again. Sycamore didn't mind. She was taking things in again. He wasn't sure how long it had been since she'd been in the city. People in her line of work typically came and went, after all.

Still, it was a tad fascinating to see where her interest would draw to. From the simple fashion trend to Pokemon trailing behind their trainers. It didn't linger in one place long.

Eventually, it turned back to him. He grinned a little, finding he liked it when her attention was on him. The feeling spurred him on. He tried to quash the feeling, if only to keep himself from coming on too strong.

"Ah, no worries on that," he answered lightly. "I don't think you'd leave me bored, hmm?"

He delighted in the way she grinned at him. He got along with the majority of his people but Lilith was a little different. It wasn't often he hit it off this quickly.

"Tell me, have you traveled much?" He inquired. "Within the region or out? I know your line of work tends to make you move about a little."

If anything, he could continue to learn a little more about her. She appeared a tad tired however. He wouldn't push it too much, if only for that fact.

Clemont hummed, if only to show he was listening. He didn't want to offend Aretha by having her think he wasn't listening. In fact he wanted to know more about her. He tried not to think about when she might leave Lumiose. Tried, but failed.

"I see," he said, pushing his glasses back up his nose. "As long as you're all happy about it, I guess."

And really, what else mattered? So long as they were all good to go on the arrangement. Clemont wouldn't pry further, anything else wasn't any of his business.

He cleared his throat at Aretha's next words. Was he that transparent? He supposed he was, if even Emolga was smacking him for it. Clemont tried not to let his face warm up at that though it was a futile attempt.

"Well, at least I have that going for me," he joked, a little proud that someone called him cute. It had been awhile since the last time he'd heard it. Clemont cleared his throat then, trying to focus a bit better. It wasn't all about him, after all.

For a moment he was quiet, wondering what to say to that. It would be a little weird to invite her to stay at the gym so soon, they'd only known each other for less than half an hour. Maybe in a few days, if they hit it off and Aretha wasn't weirded out by the option. For now he shook the thought away.

"Well, let me know, okay?" he said, feeling a bit lame. Surely he could have come up with something better.

While she watched the passersby Lilith could feel Sycamore's gaze on her. It wasn't enough to bother her though it was there all the same. Eventually she'd turned back to him only to see the man grinning again. Sycamore had a nice smile, one Lilith liked to see.

She scoffed in amusement, glancing away briefly. Lilith had met many charming people in her life so far but so far Sycamore seemed to take the cake! In a way it was nice...

"Well, you'll just have to wait and see now, huh?" she shot back teasingly.

Lilith attempted not to mess with her hair again, conscious of the habit. Some people grew annoyed with it, she knew and so she tried not to do it too much. Still, before she knew it she was trying to tuck her bangs behind her ear again.

"Just around Kalos anymore," she answered simply. "Though not all of it. Designing for people ends up keeping me near places where I can access the internet to reach people easily."

In a way it had her missing out on some of the other, more obscure sights of Kalos. One of these days she'd have to set her work aside and just journey around to see what she'd missed over the years. At least Lilith would have liked to do that. Her bank account heavily disagreed with any sort of extended break without work.

"And you? I'd imagine you have a few opportunities to get about if you need to," Lilith pointed out. Then again, maybe that was exactly why many professors handed out their pokédexes to trainers to minimize having to travel away from the lab all of the time.

She nodded absentmindedly in agreement. Her family didn't do much in the ways of sticking together. For the most part, they only did so in times of trouble. They were creatures of habit and often snuck back into their old ways.

Regardless of the subject, she grinned again. He did his best not to blush on her call. He really was cute, if she was being honest with herself. It was a little odd for her to be showing this much confidence as well. Maybe it was just because no other girl seemed to be clinging to him.

"I'm sure you've got plenty things going for ya," she responded lightly. "I'm just gonna have to work to find them!"

In a way, she had to wonder if he was already looking for hers too. Who could tell. They'd just met, after all. She'd heard of things clicking fast in all kinds of relationships though.

She glanced at him again, studying his features. He almost looked a little unsure of what he was saying. Or maybe he wanted to say something else?

"I'll be sure to," She answered lightly. "Soooo, that back pack. What does it do?"

If anything, she could help him out, keeping the conversation going. It was interesting. Maybe it was a regular sight around her too. Who knew. Aretha figured more would have been looking at it.

She, in the very least, seemed comfortable with his gaze on her. If she felt it, she barely passed a glance. An amused scoff left her and that was it.

She was a pretty thing, prettier when she smiled. Sycamore found himself proud that he could draw that out of her. Some women were just to catty and due to his lax nature, didn't stay too long. Maybe this time would be different.

His grin only seemed to grow when she turned her attention on him. Lilith wasn't afraid of joking around. It was a nice change of pace.

"Oho, that does sound like a challenge!" He responded lightly. "I suppose I will!"

It wasn't long before she started to explain where she'd been. It was a shame to hear she didn't travel as much now. Most people ended up this way however, fetching a more suitable jobs.

"I see," he answered. "Perhaps in time, we'll change that!"

Some could be anxious. Lilith might not be any different on that matter. He couldn't blame her. He was much of the same.

"I don't get out too often myself," he explained. "Once in a while, I'll take a trip or two, but as far as how I used to travel? It is no comparison. I enjoy what I do now, however."

The explanation was simple, maybe even expected. His line of work left him busy, after all. Finding time to move about was difficult in itself, not that he didn't take the time to lounge around once in a while.

It was nice to see Aretha grinning again. Maybe it wasn't such ab ad thing that Clemont was a little more than awkward with girls he liked. At the very least it kept Aretha's attention for a little bit.

Clemont gave a shrug, clearing his throat before hand. "Oh, I wouldn't say so. Usually what I've 'got going for me' is just the odd job around the city," he admitted, "today just happened to be a lucky break!"

There was a beat or two of quiet between them. Nearby a Furfrou was causing a little ruckus, running about out of his young trainer's reach. It was all harmless fun and even the little girl was giggling as she chased after the pokémon. The sight brought a smile to Clemont's lips.

He blinked back at Aretha, taking a moment to register what she'd asked. Pushing his glasses up his nose again he smiled widely halting in his steps. "Now that can be a little difficult to explain. It does all sorts of things, you know."

Grasping the straps in hand he gave a little yank, hiking it higher onto his back. As if this was a trigger of sorts the two arms snapped out, a large orange hand on one and a satellite dish on the other. Both hung above Clemont's head, waiting for any other inputs he had for the devices.

"I usually use it when I'm working on things or for battling," he explained.

Was it just Lilith or had Sycamore's grin gotten bigger when she'd turned back to him? As she'd thought before he still seemed entirely stoked about, well, seemingly just about everything. It was either that or he grew laid back. Perhaps that wasn't much of a bad thing, however. Sycamore seemed like he quite enjoyed what he did.

Lilith chuckled, leaning forward on her clasped hands. Perhaps an interesting thing or two might happen while she worked for Sycamore. Here she'd been expecting something more cut and dry and quite boring.

"Watch out, I might hold you to that," she teased lightly, reaching for her drink again.

She listened politely as Sycamore talked about himself. She wasn't one to actively ask about himself so soon. Perhaps in that way she was more reserved than Sycamore had been. It was nice to be offered a bit of that information without having to ask.

"Well, maybe a bit of fresh air might do you some good, too," Lilith said lightly. If anything Sycamore seemed to take it upon himself to wander out of the lab every so often as it was.

Sitting back, Lilith clapped her hands lightly, nodding towards the street. Lumiose was quite the busy place and rightfully so. Lilith hoped her pokémon wouldn't cause much trouble here. Maybe now that she was in a stationary place as well she could make some calls during her free time and see how some of her other pokémon around Kalos were doing as well.

"I get the feeling that if we don't get a move on now we're just gonna keep bumming around here," Lilith noted, "not that I wouldn't mind that." 'Or a nap,' she silently added.

Aretha chuckled when he spoke next. He was either modest or didn't give himself much credit. She supposed that was a good thing. She hated egos in the past and was rather put off by people who boasted too often.

"Sounds like you're quite busy." She answered lightly. "I'm glad Ketu didn't put anymore on that work load, hmmm?"

Of course, there would probably still be unhappy people. Aretha would have to work to get the Deino under control, if she could at all. In time, she hoped it wouldn't be so much of a problem. The type of Pokemon was difficult enough, after all.

She glanced around, noting a few Pokemon here and there. It was hard to believe she didn't notice the city was so lively before. Of course, she was typically here and gone before she could really take it all in.

Aretha's attention went straight back to him when he tried to explain the backpack. She blinked, a little confused until he'd shown her what it did. She tried not to flinch in surprise though, whether she was successful or not was a mystery.

A large grin spread onto her lips afterward. She wasn't even sure what it did but it was certainly interesting!

"And you made this?" She answered, moving a little closer to get a better look. She didn't want to touch it, fearing causing some kind of problem. "That's really amazing!"

Aretha couldn't recall a time she'd met someone this interesting. She was excited, wanted to get to know him better if she could. Silently, she debated staying a little longer, just to get to know Clemont a little more.

Sycamore was glad that things were seemingly going well between them. It was very rare he encountered someone not willing to work with him or remain friendly. Part of him figured it was his laid back attitude.

She certainly didn't seem to be impatient with him. Despite his outward friendliness, some could be put off by his laid back attitude. It was something that, in time, he simply chose to ignore.

He chuckled when she spoke. She was appearing to be just as playful as he was.

"I look forward to it," he answered.

He finished off his tea, setting is aside. Paying for what he had ordered was a simple thing. Being in his position, funds was rarely a thing he worried over. This was something he did not mention however.

"I could, once in a while." He responded lightly. "Though, it seems I've found a breath of fresh air in front of me."

The prod was light and he rather enjoyed the look that crossed her face. Despite her willingness to play along, she seemed to have a bit of a bashful side tucked away. Sycamore enjoyed seeing it.

She sat back then, seemingly ready to move on. No doubt, she was tired. The trip probably took more out of her then she was willing to admit. Getting her acquainted with the lab was a good idea as well.

"Ah, of course." He replied, clasping his hands together briefly. He pushed himself from his seat a moment after. "If you follow me, I will show you to the lab."

It wasn't far from the cafe. The walk would be short, as long as they didn't get caught up in something. When she stood and gathered her things, he would start them off.

Clemont nodded, his glasses slipping down his nose again. He tried his best to ignore it for the time being though more out of habit than anything he was already pushing them back up a moment later. A smile remained on his lips, enjoying the day and the conversation. It certainly was a nice change of pace.

Usually Bonnie trailed along after him unless one of her friends got a hold of her. Perhaps that was good, too, that it had been the case today. No doubt she would have found some way to embarrass him in front of Aretha. It never seemed to fail, even if it was unintentional.

"I'm sure something will happen to change that, just watch," Clemont argued in good humor. "It always does!"

He caught sight of Aretha glancing around at everything as they walked. Clemont didn't really have a set destination in mind. Merley wandering around usually brought something up for everyone. There was all sorts of things spread about in Lumiose City, in any case. Perhaps Aretha just liked the walk, too.

It wasn't long after that they'd stopped so that Clemont could show off his bag. It had all sorts of nifty little programs in it, usually ones to help him out as he'd said. For now they hung uselessly above him, waiting for a program to be booted up. Clemont beamed as Aretha drew closer, looking amazed.

"Thank you! It's nice to have someone other than Bonnie to show off to now. She usually just scoffs at me," Clemont admitted. No doubt Bonnie had long since gotten used to Clemont's ability to make things. To her it must have been old hat. The change of pace was one that left him feeling warm with pride.

Lilith turned away, shaking her head. It was more to hide the smile on her lips. If Sycamore kept this up she might just end up getting a little attached. It had been quite awhile since that had happened.

She waited patiently for Sycamore to pay for the small order. Lilith wondered briefly if he made it a habit to come down to a cafe for a tea or something every so often. That coudln't have been cheap in the long run. Still, he seemed well off as it was. Who was Lilith to judge?

Sycamore had spoken afterwards, drawing her attention. Lilith found herself thankful for her bangs, ducking her head to hide behind them a little as she waved a dismissive hand. She could swear her face had felt a little hot after he said that.

"You say that but I assure you I'm pretty boring! More times than not my eyes are glued to my laptop!" she argued lightly, though there was a grain of truth to that. If not spending time with her pokémon or out for a stretch it was more often than not she was on that computer of hers.

Regardless of the lighthearted conversation it was best to head off. With Sycamore Lilith was sure it would crop back up anyways. He seemed the type to like that sort of a mood, after all.

It was a simple thing to fish out her bag, the thing crammed full. She was quite sure it wasn't going to be an easy feat to unzip the thing when she needed something out of it later. For now she wouldn't worry about it. Instead she slung it back over her shoulders, making sure the pokéballs were still in place. Out of everything she had on her her team was the most priceless and she wouldn't allow herself to forget any of them or leave one behind on accident.

"Lead the way," she said, hoisting her bag into a more comfortable position seconds after.

She couldn't help but offer a chuckle in return. Honestly, if Ketu got out of his Pokeball or on his own again, she knew there would be trouble. She felt bad enough that she'd let it happen the first time.

"Well, at least I know I'll have someone to help me if it comes to that!" She answered lightly. "At least it'll only be dealing with one Deino!"

Aretha grinned rather largely at him. For someone who seemed so intelligent, he didn't give himself a whole lot of credit. Maybe that was because most people were used to seeing these things. It was certainly easier to brush things off when one saw these kinds of things more then once.

The amount of pride was written on his face, even the way he stood. She couldn't imagine what it took to make things like that.

"She's not into the invention thing, huh?" She inquired, taking a step back to get a better look. One was clearly a hand while the other looked more like a satellite dish. "That's a shame! I'm sure you've got a great many ideas!"

Aretha had to wonder what the thing did, though she wouldn't ask at the moment. Seemed like it was complicated enough as it was. She wasn't sure if she could keep up with what the device did in turn.

"I'd imagine that thing gets heavy after a while," she carried on. "You must be pretty strong too!"

She did what she could to turn away, hide a smile behind her hand. She wasn't able to fool him however. Her eyes gave her away. It was quite easy to tell, even for one who didn't look out for these kinds of things. A mask wasn't something she wore so easily, it seemed!

A short chuckle left him. No point in prodding her too much. He might put her off or embarrass her at that rate. He didn't want to be a cause to anything that might make her draw away.

It only took a few moments to pay off the bill. With that done, they could be on their way. Surely, she wanted to get settled in as it was. He noticed she'd ducked her head even further now, as if trying to hide her face. A rather large smile tugged at his lips as he witnessed this.

Lilith waved a dismissive hand before speaking. It looked like sh was trying to gather herself, more than anything else! It was rather endearing, in a way.

"Oh please," he answered lightly in response. "I'm sure there are plenty of interesting things to learn about you!"

He pushed himself to his feet afterward. Lilith was already fishing for her bag. It only took a moment before she'd retrieved it and slung it over her shoulder. He motioned for her to follow after, when she was ready.

The walk wouldn't be a long one, even with the crowds. Sycamore had long since gotten used to them. Kalos was a rather busy region in and of itself. He held out hopes that Lilith wasn't bothered by it.
