Personality: she's a tomboy that doesn't care what other girls think of her because she not afraid to get down and dirty in a fight. She can have a kind heart for animals and kids, but tries not to show it to other people since she want to keep a tough image. She a hard worker and doesn't stop her work until it's done even if Luffy is bugging her to play with him or take a break. She serious about her friends and family health since she doesn't want anyone else to die. She kind and will show a smile sometimes when she's willing too and is not afraid to tell she friends what she's really feeling the hiding it from them.

Background: Jewel's mother Jasmine had giving birth to Jewel, but then die from childbirth because she was born with a weak body and her body couldn't handle the birth of Jewel. Her father mostly raise her along with his father in law to make sure Jewel had a good life on the island. When she was nine years old, she was bullied by some of boys around the island and came back home with come bruises one day and told her father what happen to her. When he heard the story, he thought it was time to teach her along with her grandfather how to do fighting combat style, over the past few months she slowly started to get the hang of it and around that time when the bullies tried to attack her. She was able to block, Dodge and attack them as she saw them running away and didn't have to be bothered by them anymore. Even after the bullied stop she didn't stop training when her two role models, her father and her grandfather. By the time she turned 19, helping out her father at the item store he thought it was time for her to explore more of the world than just their home island, she refused to leave because she was worried for them and their wellness. Until the Straw Hat pirate came to the island to restock on supplies, Her father saw this as opportunity to have Jewel travel with them so she could leave the island and spread her wings. A long with her grandfather they were able to convince them to take Jewel with them, at first Jewel refused to go along, but her grandfather told her that she need to see the world and find out what she wanted to do in life. Jewel give in and does go with the straw hat crew, her father gave her a bag full of supplies she needed and her grandfather gave her gauntlets to improve her fighting skills while out at sea. She gave her goodbyes to everyone on the island before they left out for their next location.
