Iris sucked in a pain filled breath. Her lungs burned as she did so, a cough leaving her. It was a strangled, choking sound. She blinked her eyes open, trying to push herself up. Her limbs protested. Pain shot through her side with these movements. She gasped, a whimper leaving her.

Her arm snaked around her waist, hand pressed against the pain. Drawing it back, she found blood. Her heart raced as she sat up.

It was only after several long moments passed did she spare a glance around. This wasn't home or the woods she had been walking in. Now, ruins toward over her.

A chill ran up her spine. Her hand fell into her lap momentarily as she glanced around again. Iris' breath came quick and labored, mixed with panic and pain.

"Where is she?" She muttered the question. Even as quiet as that had came out, it still seemed to echo around her.

Iris pushed herself to her feet, stumbling and nearly falling again. She cringed, a pain fill sound leaving her. Stumbling forward, her hand covered the wound again. How did she get it? She tried to think back.

They had been wandering through the woods, stumbled across a door. She recalled trying to open it several times. Something like that, it just didn't sit in the middle of no where. It did open, she remembered that much. Something pulled she and her friend inside and then nothing.

If she was alright, was her friend alright as well? Iris tried to move forward but each step was pain filled and exhausting.

"Please be alright," she muttered constantly to herself. "Please, let me find her."

She hoped to find a lighter area, where she could see better. This place, it held an eerie feeling. Among everything else, she hated it the most. If she had to struggle to find her way out, she would. She just hoped her feet would carry her that far.

Leo wasn't sure what they could expect, out here in the ruins of Sablier. They were remaining around the edges, away from the more dangerous center. Who would have thought that a simple trip to the orphanage he came from would turn into a search? Leo supposed it was better this than to leave the children scared of whatever they'd heard earlier that morning.

He glanced over at Elliot. He looked determined, his hand around the sheath of his sword. Leo shook his head, hoping that nothing bad would come of investigating.

"What's on your mind?" Leon ventured.

His own gaze traveled around, not at all like the thin fog that was drifting around. All it would take is one wrong direction and they could get lost. Who knew what they could potentially run into here?

His heart pounded in his chest. He had a revolver tucked away himself though Leo wasn't a fighter. Elliot was the trained of the two, after all. Leo would provide backup for Elliot when it came to it.

Despite it being morning it was dreary here. Cloud cover above blocked out what sunlight might have helped. It left things darker than they should be, shadows deeper and longer than ever. Leo shook his head, not willing to grow wary by something so simple.

----[x]----
Leena couldn't recall what had happened exactly. After the door had been pried open everything was a blank. Alarming considering where Leena had woken up, on a cobblestone street, damp from the rainwater she'd been laying in.

Getting to her feet was a chore, her head spinning and throbbing. Placing a hand at her temple had given way to why her head throbbed. A gash, shallow and long since stopped bleeding resided there, stinging at her touch.

It wasn't until Leena had wandered out into a main street did she stop, brow raised. The clothes were all of Victorian era inspired stuff. Her own clothes stuck out like a sore thumb, the denim jeans nothing like anything being worn by these people.

A few spared a curious glance her way. Many stepped further away from her. Leena supposed she couldn't blame them, though her heart pounded dully in her chest, in time with the throbbing in her head.

Where's Iris? Glancing around she couldn't spot the other woman in the thin crowds. Leena's brow furrowed at that an she took off at a jog. If she covered more ground, perhaps she'd be able to find Iris.

PostSubject: Re: [PH] Life is Like a Boat [Reserved]   [PH] Life is Like a Boat [Reserved] Icon_minitimeFri Aug 09, 2013 6:46 pm

Elliot glanced around the area. Everything seemed quiet despite what the children had said. Something had spooked them, coming back to tell a tale that something had happened here. It hadn't taken him long to drag Leo out this way, just to confirm that something had gone amiss.

So far, there was nothing. It was silent and cold. The fog that hung in the air obstructed some view. He shook his head, glancing back  toward Leo.

"Just what those kids were talking about." He answered. "Seems more like they might have scared themselves."

It was true that there were strange happenings here. More then half the place was closed off for health reasons, or at least that had been the official report. It certainly wasn't safe, that much was for sure. Kids wandered through this area, let their imaginations run wild. It wasn't so rare that they managed to get frightened.

He puffed out a sigh as they walked deeper into Sablier. It didn't take a genius to know Leo was wary of this place. Elliot would be lying to himself if he said he wasn't either.

"If we don't find anything soon, we'll head back." He suggested.

It would be a long way back as it was. Both were already on edge and they couldn't afford pressing forward too far.

He blinked, straining his eyes. He could have sworn he saw something moving up ahead. Elliot spared a glance toward Leo, picking up his pace.

"Someone's there," he informed. "Be careful."

It wouldn't take them long to approach the figure. He came to an abrupt halt, stiffening as the figure collapsed. He rushed forward a moment after. Through the fog and darkness, he could make out a young woman in strange clothing. She was dressed more like a man, from what he could see. She was clutching her side, her breath coming in gasps.

"H-hey! You alright?"

She didn't answer, merely muttering to herself. He had to kneel down, lean a little to hear her words. He shook his head. She was muttering about someone named Leena. That much wasn't important.

"You want to stay with her or should I?" He asked, directing his attention to Leo. "Someone's got to run back and get help."

Leo wasn't a fighter and if someone attacked them out here while Elliot was away, he might not be able to react quick enough.

----[✩]----

Break wandered the streets, a bounce in his step. An umbrella overhead, he quite enjoyed the pitter-patter of rain falling. Many detested such gloomy days. He found he rather enjoyed them.

Still, he was on business and tried to keep his mind on that much. Word on the street was something strange had gone amiss within this town. It wasn't often that such a quiet place met something so new. He wanted to look into it as soon as possible, despite any protests.

Break spared a glance around, listening to those who spoke up. Rumors were already being spread. It was such a good thing that people let this information slip so easily.

There was a young woman, apparently, who'd woken on the streets. She wore strange clothing and was injured. He was curious, wondering what had happened, who this 'strange woman' was.

"Quite a mystery~." He noted to himself, turning his attention forward again.

Once in a while, he would stop and ask the few out and about for information. He caught wind of the woman having roused and run off. She hadn't said or done anything more. Break picked up his pace, wanting to find this strange woman as quickly as possible.

It seemed hours had passed, though it was more then likely on minutes, before he caught sight of a strangely dressed woman. She looked more like a man dressed as she was.

Break picked up his pace, practically jogging to catch up with the female. When he had, he left the umbrella to cover her, watching her startled expression.

"My you are quite a sight!" He expressed, a grin on his lips. "Now who might you be?"

Break waited for her to speak up. She looked startled, wary of him. He noted the gash on her head, blood flowing down her face and neck. He tilted his head slightly.

"You...may want to get that looked at," he motioned lightly. "No need to have you bleeding all over the place, hmm?"

Leo nodded, taking in Elliot's answer. It made sense. Out here, where so much could happen to trick the mind any of the kids could have worked themselves up over nothing. Still, better safe than sorry. None of the orphanage workers could exactly stray out here, unable to defend themselves if anything was running amok.

The rain here had long since passed through the fog in the air did little to rid the ruins of any dampness. In fact, it hanging in the air as it had only made it harder to brief. Leo was thankful he did not have respiratory problems because of it.

"We'll if you're sure--" anything more Leo might have said was interrupted.

He'd glanced Elliot's way, missing what the other had seen. Blinking, he whipped his head around, catching the figure in the distance. It looked to be rather slender, more feminine though there were no skirts or dress to the silhouette's shape.

When the body collapsed Elliot had darted forward with little warning, leaving Leo to scramble after him. Their footsteps were loud, echoing around them. Leo hoped nothing out here heard them.

"Is she running a fever or anything?" Leo wondered out loud, trying to peer at the woman's face once they'd gotten close enough. Mumbling could be heard from her though they made no sense to Leo.

His attention turned to Elliot, blinking at the sandy blond from behind his glasses. After a moment it sank in, and he nodded.

"I can get there and back quickly," Leo answered.

As a precaution he took out his revolver. He couldn't afford to be caught up or off guard on the way back. The girl they'd found seemed to be in bad shape as it was. With another nod to Elliot Leo turned and took off, hoping his footsteps did not attract unwanted attention.

"I'll be back soon!" he called over his shoulder.

His heart pounded hard in his chest, echoing like a drumbeat in his hears. Not very athletic it didn't take long before he was heaving for more air and his legs burned in protest. Leo didn't let this slow him. Someone was counting on him and he couldn't let them down.

----[x]----
Leena couldn't be sure how much time passed. The clouds overhead covered up the sun well enough that she couldn't guess at its position. The drizzle that did not let up only served to soak her through, her hair sticking to her forehead and neck.

Still she did not stop, jogging down this street and poking around the next. There was no sign of Iris and as they were the only ones dressed as they were, she would have been easy to spot. A scowl lined her lips, her forehead creasing. No matter how much she thought about it she couldn't piece together how she'd gotten here from that strange door in the woods.

After awhile she focused on the smell around her. The air was cleaner though that scent that came along when it rained was thick in the air, a smell Leena always quite liked. It was calming.

Leena blinked, glancing up as rain stopped hitting her. The pitter and pattering of it above her was due to an umbrella. Confused she stepped away, glancing back at the one who'd held it over her, despite the fact that she was already quite soaked.

White hair despite his younger appearance and a red eye--the other hidden away behind his bangs--and yet he was calling her strange? The grin on his lips did little to ease her curiosity. He was the first to actually come up and talk to her yet.

"Shouldn't you give your name first?" Leena retorted, though the bite in it was subdued.

At the mention of her injury she swiped at the blood that had dribbled down her forehead again. With the rain it was preventing it from properly coagulating. She pressed the heel of her hand to it, attempting to staunch it for the time being, eyeing this man curiously.

"Think it's a little late for that," she murmured.

Elliot swallowed hard, unsure of what to do for this girl. Was there anything at all. She'd taken some kind of hit to the side though, from what or why remained to be unseen.

He worried about all of this. Had she been attacked down there? Was there someone else or was this mumbling was because she was delirious. He checked for a fever but she just felt cold.

"Can't tell," he had answered Leo quickly, prying his jacket off. "She's too cold."

He spared a nod Leo's way, unsure if he could see it or not. Leo had disappeared soon after, leaving him with the female. He covered the girl, muttering words he wasn't even sure of himself.

Occasionally, he'd ask her what her name was, how she'd gotten down here. He was met with no words in return. She simply kept mumbling to herself. He worried she was too far gone to reply to him at the moment anyways.

Until Leo returned with help, he couldn't do much. His hand still rested on the hilt of his sword, ready to defend if need be.

----[✩]----

Break took the time to study the young woman. She seemed to be doing the same for him. He wouldn't stop her. The expression of confusion over her features was set. She didn't seem to know anymore then he did.

"Well, aren't you an uncute brat." He answered coolly.

Her hand had found her way to her head, pressed hard against the wound. She looked a little troubled, though more so cautious. He could give her some amount of credit. She was smart enough to realize that it was best to keep her distance.

"Regardless, my name is Xerxes Break. You may refer to me as Break."

It was a simple introduction, a matter of factly manner. Whatever she thought of him was not important for the time. He often times acted this way with the majority of people. She was no exception.

"And your name?" He asked, motioning toward her.

His smile remained on his lips. He tilted his head slightly, finding the reply a little sarcastic. From the looks of her, she seemed the type. He shook his head a little at that.

"Perhaps you'd like to come with me?" He inquired. "We can get you patched up and dry. Thhhheennnn, I may or may not have a few questions for you~."

It was merely a suggestion, though she might take it as an order or demand. Break didn't mind either way. If he had to drag her back, he would. She was a very strange one and he needed to questions her.

Leo hadn't spent much time after Elliot had spoken to dart off. He caught a glimpse of Elliot tugging off his jacket to cover the unnamed girl with and that was that. They were both feeling rushed and for good reason. There wasn't any time to waste.

He raced past the broken buildings and eroding pieces of rubble. Anything in his way Leo had to dodge around or jump over. It was a simple thing, though a couple of times he tripped. He barely noticed how his knee had started to sting, pants torn one one particularly bad fall.

By the time he'd reached the orphanage his breath was coming in great ragged gasps. He had to repeat himself several times, hard to hear because of it. When he finally did one of the workers, a woman named Mary that had been around for nearly as long as Leo had been here, followed after.

Leo worried, his heart racing, as they hurried back. He couldn't run as quickly with Mary. She couldn't keep up, especially with all of the old debris littering the area.

Did anything happen? Leo wondered as he lead the way.

----[x]----
Briefly annoyance flashed over her face. What right did he have to call her that? Leena had merely spoken the truth. It was only right to give your own name before demanding someone else's.

"Well, you're not much to look at either, buddy," she shot back easily.

She leaned back on one foot, her free hand hanging at her side. Leena did her best to ignore the throbbing in her head and the way her hair stuck to her skin for the time being. She wasn't entirely sure what to make of this stranger, after all.

Cocking her head to one side, she eyed him from head to toe. He was dressed no different than those around other than for the fact that his clothes looked to be of finer materials and deeper colors. From a family with wealth or did he work for one?

"Leena," she said. "Just... Leena."

Break's next words caused her to brow to furrow further. He seemed entirely too open with such offers. It left Leena on guard, wondering what his goal was.

"Yeah, thanks but no thanks," Leena answered carefully. Already she'd started to step away. "I'm kind of in the middle of something..."

Elliot had pressed his hand over the girls, hoping that the added pressure would aid stopping the blood flow. He kept a watch as well as he could. The cold air sapped his warmth, worse without his jacket. Elliot didn't worry about that. She needed it more then he did.

He had asked several times how she'd gotten down here. There was no answer. Even her mumbling seemed to grow weaker. He swallowed hard at that.

Sparring a glance around, he tried to peer through the darkness and fog. He couldn't afford to wait much longer. It was a blessing that they hadn't been attacked.

"Come on Leo," he muttered, as if his friend could hear. "I don't think we have much time left!"

Minutes passed by but it felt like hours. Eventually, he heard the rushed footsteps, lifting his head. He puffed out a sigh of relief, confirming Leo. He was struggling for breath, looked worse of then even Mary who trailed behind.

"Hey, you alright?" He asked. "You look like you're about ready to pass out yourself." The joke was strained but at the moment, Elliot felt panicked. Leo must have felt the same, noting his own disposition.

----[✩]----

Break snorted in amusement. This young woman seemed to have some amount of spunk to her, however dry it was as of the moment. She seemed to be a little more subdued at the moment, if only due to the circumstance.

Her words left slightly amusement flickering in him. He faked looking as if he'd been struck, a troubled expression flickering over his features.

"Ouch! Well, that hurt a little!" He said, placing a hand over his chest as if he was in pain. "Now, that wasn't very nice!"

As she stepped away, Break frowned. He let the umbrella cover his own head now. It wasn't long before he started to follow. A tad taller then she was, it was easy to catch up to her own pace.

"Well then, Leena," he started lightly, his smile back in place. "These things you have to attended to, what may they be? Surely, you can't expect to do this all by yourself!"

It wasn't long before he pointed at her clothing. As different as it was, it would attract attention. Despite the times, there were still some dangerous folk who wandered about. She would stick out like a sore thumb, the way she looked.

"You might want to re-think your plan, if you plan on continuing to aimlessly wander." He said, a little more seriousness to his tone. "Who knows who might target you, hmm?"

PostSubject: Re: [PH] Life is Like a Boat [Reserved]   [PH] Life is Like a Boat [Reserved] Icon_minitimeFri Aug 09, 2013 11:51 pm

It was with great relief that Leo spotted Elliot and the girl through the fog. It hadn't thickened so much as Leo had worried he'd taken a wrong turn somewhere on the way back. Mary oftentimes had to right herself after tripping over something as well, slowing them down.

Once close enough Leo allowed a halfhearted chuckle to pass his lips. Already he was kneeling on the girl's other side. Mary was fumbling for the supplies he'd brought, digging out bandages and whatever she had to clean the wound with on hand.

"Couldn't get here any faster," Leo said, gasping for breath. "Sorry it took so long."

"Give me some room!" Mary demanded, kneeling before them. Despite the strangeness in the girl's clothes it at least was easy enough to reach her wound. The shirt she wore was tugged up just enough to examine it, even with little response from her.

Leo tossed a look at Elliot. The wound looked serious, blood caking it. It was a miracle her clothes hadn't gotten stuck to it.

Rushed, Mary began to clean up the wound. If the girl struggled then she would call for Leo or Elliot to help keep her still. They couldn't very well leave it dirty and unbandaged. After it was tended to they could take her to the orphanage and find out what might have happened.

Leo could only hope that it was not too late for her. Gnawing at the inside of his cheek he waited with baited breath. Would she even be able to tell them anything? The thought was a worrisome one.

----[x]----
The amusement that flashed over Break's face was quick to disappear. In return a look of hurt was there, even as he adopted an effected pose. Leena had to resist rolling her eyes, though that didn't stop her from shaking her head.

She said nothing in return, merely stepping away from him. She still kept her hand pressed to her wound. Whether it had stopped bleeding or not wasn't something she'd checked yet, however. Leena supposed it was best to be cautious about it.

The frown that spread over Break's lips caught her attention. Had he thought she'd follow after? Leena resisted scoffing at that. Without another word she'd started off, eyes darting around the people wandering around.

Leena wasn't sure how to feel when Break fell in step beside her. Her brow furrowed, despite the way that it made her head throb further. What did he want with her? It seemed far too persistent to just be someone who wanted to be helpful.

"You say that as if you expect me to trust you," Leena answered.

A step or two later Break spoke up, gesturing to her. Leena didn't bother to glance down at her clothes. They clung to her as it was, uncomfortable and hard to ignore. The glances spared her way only proved how strange her clothes must be to them all.

"No one's ever accused me of being smart before," she scoffed, picking up her pace.

Elliot was able to spare a nod toward Leo as he knelt down beside the female. She looked worse for ware already. His heart pounded against his chest. Was she even going to make it?

Moving off to the side, he allowed Mary to take over for the moment. He sparred a glance toward Leo, his worry apparent on his features. That gash was deep. Whatever had done this, he had to wonder if they had intentions to kill her.

Pain filled gasps left the female. It was a small relief, knowing she hadn't passed out on them. She barely moved, perhaps too weak to do so. Elliot ran his other hand through his hair.

"What could have done this?" He inquired out loud.

It seemed the answer wouldn't come around until they could talk to her. Who knew when that would be or if she even remembered in the first place.

The minutes felt longer then the should have. Eventually, Mary had finished up without much more difficulty. Elliot took to carrying the female on his back, as gently as he could manage, before they started toward the orphanage again.

----[✩]----

Break offered a chuckle in response. He shook his head a moment later. If she expected her to trust him, she was sorely mistaken. He didn't expect trust at all. The willingness to use however, that was something most seemed to forget.

"I don't ask for you trust." He answered lightly, glancing down at her again. "But you are free to use just as I'm free to use you."

He waited, wondering what she'd think of that. Most people expressed confusion on the matter. It wouldn't have surprised him if she expressed the same.

"My information for your own." He carried on. "Fair trade and we don't have to trust each other, as this oh so confident young lady seems to lack."

He blinked, taken aback slight by her own words. A short laugh left him afterward. This one really was strange though, he welcomed it. In all honesty, he could have sworn he'd met stranger people.

"Well, at least you're self aware!" He offered. "Most people would not be so willing to admit a flaw like that."

He waited, watching her expression. She seemed confident enough, despite what seemed to have happened. His curiosity only grew the more she denied letting him in.

It was a steady affair, Mary treating the girl. There was no struggle, though whimpers and cries of pain escaped her. Leo had to stop himself from pacing because of it. Who knew what his anxiousness might do to her? Just a glimpse of them acting panicked could cause her to worsen.

Leo shook his head, unsure of the answer to Elliot's question. "An illegal contractor maybe?" he offered. "Though I'd think the kids would have heard something more than they said they did if that was the case..."

Until this girl healed enough to speak and answer their questions it would remain a mystery. Was she even mentally alright? Leo found himself anxious that she would not be, a heavy weight in the pit of his stomach.

"Alright, I've done what I can," Mary finally said, sitting back. "Come! Let's get her back and in a bed to warm her up! Quick, quick!"

Elliot took up that role, though Leo had to help situation the girl on his back. She seemed to refuse to move any further. Her mumblings came and went at this point, still nonsensical to Leo.

"Got her?" Leo questioned, a hand hovering over her back. He worried she'd lean back and fall right off of Elliot.

----[x]----
Her brow furrowed again at Break's laughter. What was so funny? Her eyes darted his way, watching as he shook his head. It was a moment more before he answered, elaborating.

Leena blinked, a slow "ah-huh" escaping her in answer. It was an odd way to view relationships with people. Leena had to wonder what caused him to start thinking like that. Merely being tools for each other to use? It was even more cynical than her own thoughts half the time.

"How high are you right now?" she shot back. Leena spared a passing glance his way, catching sight of the confusion there. Did they really not know about weed around here? "I mean did you dip into a drug stash lately? Because I think you took the wrong pills there, buddy. You're supposed to take the ones that make life happy and goody-gum drops not bleak and gloomy."

A moment passed before Break had elaborated what he wanted. Again Leena passed him a peculiar look. It was sound logic, if one didn't think too much into it. Perhaps that's what Break hoped for.

"I see your point and raise one of my own; you'd have to trust that my information is truthful and not just a bunch of bullshit. Vice versa on that, as well," Leena rebutted.

Quiet passed between them. It was short-lived however, before Break had taken to laughing. It was louder than the chuckle form earlier and caused Leena's head to throb horribly. She didn't mention this however.

Nodding, careful not to jar her wound, Leena picked her words carefully. "Oh, well you know, it usually works to make people--oh, I don't know--go away." At the last part she'd shot a glare Break's way.

Elliot tried to make heads or tails of it. Like Leo had said, he had to wonder if she was an illegal contractor. If that was the case, he would have expected to hear more from the children. He tried to shake the thoughts from his head.

"No point in wondering now." He answered. "Let's just hope she can talk when she's fully aware again."

It wasn't long after Mary was rushing them to get moving. With Leo's help, he was able to get the female onto his back. He worried about jostling the wound further. Another pain filled whimper left her, her grip already tightening around his neck.

"Yea," he responded after a moment. "Just keep an eye out for me."

He wouldn't be able to defend them in this position. He just wanted to get out of her, back to the orphanage and hope that this girl would be able to speak up at some point or another. He blinked, turning his head a little as they walked.

"Who?" Came the small question.

Elliot wasn't sure if this was something of a relief or not. "Don't worry about it." He said, glancing around. "You'll be fine."

For the moment, that seemed to satisfy her into silence again. At least she seemed to be somewhat aware of her surroundings. That was better then nothing at all.

----[✩]----

Break had waited on her to respond. The one that had come however, he didn't quite understand. Her words were foreign to him, leaving a confused expression crossing his features. He shook his head a moment after.

"I'm afraid I don't understand what you mean." He answered after a few moments. "You've some very strange words. Perhaps you are a little mad."

Break could only wonder. Leena was very strange, didn't seem of this world. She didn't even appear to be another from the neighboring country. No, she was for more foreign then that.

A sly smile graced his lips again, easily keeping pace with her. "Now, here you were calling yourself stupid~." He said lightly. "But it appears you're rather smart! Not many tend to latch onto that little loop hole."

It was true enough. When offered in this way, most trusted his pretty words. It made things easier on him, in the end. Leena seemed quite a bit different, caught on fast. He rather found himself curious of that.

He blinked, watching as she tried to pick up pace again. He did the same before he would turn on his heel and start walking backwards. It was easy to step in front of her, cutting her path off.

"Oh, now that's a shame." He answered lightly. "But I don't have time to play. If I have to drag you back, I will. So what will it be, hmm?"

Leena might have been confident, impatient, and determined but she remained unaware of his skills. He could easily overpower her, as injured as she was already. He had to wonder what path she was going to take.

Leo nodded, revolver still in one hand. For a long moment he still remained, hand hovering over the stranger's back. She hadn't moved much, though she still seemed out of it. Was it the pain or something more?

Shaking his head, Leo darted forward a little. He would take the lead in place of Elliot. Carrying the girl as he was Elliot would be unable to use his sword if something attacked.

"I think I'll be able to manage for a while," Leo said.

From behind him Leo could hear the girl murmur and Elliot answer. It wasn't much, just a few words before silence spread over them again. Leo kept his gaze darting around, looking for any sudden movements.

The fog around them, thin as it was, played tricks on his mind. It left Leo tense and he could only wonder how Mary or Elliot felt. Their footsteps echoing around them, if there was anything stalking them they would be easy pickings.

"Holding up still?" Leo called out once they'd hit the halfway mark.

----[x]----
As Break mulled over her words Leena took the time to pull her hand away, inspecting the blood there. The light rain kept it from drying, and it made it hard to see just how badly it was bleeding. Wiping the blood off on her pant leg she could only hope it was slowing or stopped.

She paid little attention to Break as they walked, still watching for signs of Iris. Nothing jumped out at her. Other than the clothes everything seemed quite simple. Buildings in the town didn't seem large or elaborate and she could even see a horse and buggy nearby.

Where did I end up? she wondered again. If it had just been into some sort of period event people would not have avoided her as they had. Hell, some wouldn't have dressed up for it all.

Break's words cut through her focus, drawing her out of her thoughts. Leena merely shrugged and gave a halfhearted "Yeah, well..." in response.

From the corner of her eye she could spy that grin on his lips. It left Leena on edge, still unsure of what he wanted with her. She grunted in reply, a soft sound in place of anything further for a moment.

When she'd quickened her pace, hoping that Break would get the hint and leave her be, he did the same. Leena was forced to stop on a dime as he stepped in front of her. Blinking up at him, she tensed, unsure of what was to happen next.

Leena said nothing and for a long moment seemed to have nothing in mind to. Without any warning she darted off at a dead sprint, hoping to get a head start. She'd pull and push things in his way behind her as she went if Leena could manage that much.

Elliot spared a few glances around. The girl had been quiet, occasionally tightening her grip when he took a bad step. He muttered his apology, hoping that he hadn't jostled her wound too badly.

The fog was eerie enough. This girls sudden appearance and injury only seemed to make it worse for him. What had she been doing down there anyways? He pushed the thought to the back of his mind for the moment.

Reaching the half way point was a relief. It wouldn't be long until they reached the orphanage. Elliot was already trying to figure out a way to explain this one. His family already freaked out enough with him as it was.

"We're alright," he answered Leo. "She's still holding on, at least."

She mumbled something unintelligible again. Whatever it was, he didn't catch. Elliot tried to humor himself into thinking it was some kind of insult. At least that way, he could relax a little.

They were all on edge. The sooner the orphanage came into sight, the better.

----[✩]----

Break had waited patiently for her decision. She seemed frightened when he stopped her. That, he figured, could be a good or a bad thing. It might lead her to a better decision.

Of course, it wasn't so easy. A moment after, she darted passed him, as fast as he feet could take her. Break sighed, shaking his head before he darted forward as well.

Leena tried to find anything that she could to throw in his way. It was easy to dodge out of the way as they clattered to the ground. People moved out of their way in a bid not to avoid getting run over.

"Now, now!" He shouted in between breaths. "Are you sure this is what you want?"

Cane in his left hand, when he was close enough, he swept it over her legs. It was a harsher catch. She hit the ground hard. The wound was already enough to deal with. He didn't feel so guilty about it. He'd warned her, after all.

"My, what an uncute brat you are," he said, knelling down. "You could have taken the easy way out, you know."

Break watched her expression, pain filled but still set in some determination. He scoffed a little at that.

"Stubborn. Perhaps we're a little more akin to each other then you know." He stood, offering a hand after that was said. "Now, I won't offer you the nice way out another time. Despite what you believe, I am trying to help."

Whether she believed him or not remained to be seen. Until she made a move, he could only guess with this one.

PostSubject: Re: [PH] Life is Like a Boat [Reserved]   [PH] Life is Like a Boat [Reserved] Icon_minitimeSat Aug 10, 2013 2:36 am

It was easy to see everyone's unease. Mary kept looking around then, probably expecting any manner of thing to jump out at them. Elliot was a little more subtle in his anxiety though Leo knew him well enough to spot it. It wasn't hard after a time.

"You be sure to tell me if she's getting worse," Mary said before Leo could get anything in edgewise. "The first thing we'll do is send for the doctor once we're back!"

Leo was glad for the plan. The girl really did look worse off as it was. There was no need to make it worse by delaying anything. As such, Leo pushed on, careful not to trip over any of the rubble.

It was a difficult trek. He could dart ahead and leave Elliot and Mary defenseless. The place was off limits for a reason, after all. Occasionally chains popped up around here as it was, brief spurts or so Leo had heard. He'd rather avoid a situation like that.

Every so often he'd glance behind him, making sure everyone was alright. The conversation had died, all of them pushing forward. Leo was filled with great relief at the sight of the orphanage in the distance. He couldn't even be sure how much time had passed.

"Almost there! Just a little further, Elliot!"

----[x]----
Leena wasn't sure how long it was until she had to push herself to run. The sudden movement was dizzying, her head throbbing horribly. It was all she could do to keep from just stopping. Little attention was spared on those that dodged out of the way, whether from her or to avoid anything she threw down behind her to block Break.

She'd barely paid any attention to what he'd shouted after her. It made little difference, her heart lodging itself in her throat at how close he sounded.

It felt like only seconds later when something hard swept into her shins, sending her to the ground. Leena managed to catch herself in time to avoid smashing her face on the cobblestones though her knees and arms ached and throbbed. It wasn't anything in comparison to how her head swam.

Break seemed to have kept that playful tone in his voice, even when he'd knelt down next to her. Leena cursed under her breath, squeezing her eyes shut and resting her forehead on her arm. The cool rain did little to help, the world still feeling as if it were spinning beneath her. Nausea was quick to settle in, doubled by the dizziness and the pain.

How long as it been...? Leena wondered. Had her head been bleeding the entire time? She'd been fine when she'd been walking. It seemed she was worse off then she'd originally thought.

"Ah, fuck off with you," she growled, sounding more breathless than anything. If she was being honest, Leena wasn't sure if she'd be able to even make it back up on her feet at the moment.

The silence left them all nervous. He caught Mary glancing around quite a bit, sometimes flinching at shadows or little noises. He couldn't blame her. They were all on edge at the moment.

He glanced over his shoulder, watching the unnamed female for a brief moment. Her eyes were closed and her breath was still coming in gasps though, not as bad as before. He could only hope the added jacket was helping her.

"She seems a little better." He answered. "A doctor would be a good precaution."

The walk seemed to take forever. With their nerves so shot, it seemed longer. When the orphanage finally came into sight, a sigh of relief gusted out of him.

"That's a relief," he answered Leo. "Maybe we can all sit down and just settle this all out."

He hoped that would be the case. Until they knew this girl was good and well, they could do nothing but wait.

----[✩]----

Break tilted his head, watching the blood flow seeming to worsen. He heaved a heavy sigh, wondering if he'd been a little too rough. It wouldn't have been the first time and he doubted it would ever be the last.

She took a few moments to gather herself again. No doubt, the fall did little to help her. He didn't blame himself for it. It was her fault, he figured. He had warned her.

Her words left him shaking his head. Easily grabbing her forearm, he pulled her to her feet. She stumbled, leaving him a little startled.

"Looks like I may have been a little too rough," he pointed out lightly. "Not my fauulllttt~. I warned you~."

It was an easy task afterward, wrapping his arms around her waist. He made it a simple thing to throw her over his shoulder, despite any sound leaving her. With that done, he started back down the way they had come.

"Perhaps you might have some time to rest~!" He suggested. "It will take a while to get back, at this rate!"

She barely looked conscious as it was before he picked her up. He wondered if she was alright or if she was getting sick. She was soaked through as it was. The injury certainly didn't help.

Leo didn't see what Mary's reaction was to Elliot's words. Leo wouldn't mention it but Mary was something of a worrywart. Regardless of the girl's health Mary would have wanted a doctor as a precaution anyways.

When Elliot spoke up again, Leo spared a glance over his shoulder. He seemed to be handling the added weight alright, despite the distance they'd covered. Then again it could have been only because Elliot was stubborn that it looked that way.

"That's assuming she'll be able to talk," Leo pointed out.

She'd been quiet and unmoving for some time. If it wasn't for Elliot carrying her and not saying that things had turned for the worse Leo might have thought she'd stopped breathing.

"Leo, I want you to get that girl into a room immediately," Mary called out, picking up her pace. There was less rubble here and so she had overtaken him. "I'll fetch that doctor!"

"Yes, ma'am!" Leo called after, tucking his revolver away. There would be no need for it now.

Jogging up to the orphanage door he could already see curious faces in the windows. Leo paid them little mind, holding the door open for Elliot. It would be a quick affair after that to get her to a vacant room. Any questions would be either ignored or hastily answered in that time.

----[x]----
Leena hadn't bothered to look up at Break. She just wanted to get the spinning to stop though it had yet to lessen. Vaguely she wondered how much blood she'd lost before she'd woken up.

She barely had time to glance at him when he grabbed her before she was on her feet. Black gathered at the edges of her vision and Leena wondered if it hadn't been for Break holding her up if she'd had toppled over. Her knees certainly felt shaky enough.

There was just enough time to scoff at his words before he'd slipped an arm around her waist and hoisted Leena up over his shoulder. The sudden movement did little to ease the dizziness or the nausea. The throbbing in her head intensified, causing her thoughts to disjoint.

Leena didn't trust herself to speak. Upside down as she was, the blood rushed to her head. She pressed a hand to her wound again, attempt to stem the blood flow again. Squeezing her eyes shut, Leena tried hard not to throw up.

However long it would be it would be until Break reached this destination of his would be far too long.

Elliot gave a simple nod in response. That was a common worry. If this girl couldn't speak, they wouldn't have any answers. Who knew if she was an illegal contractor or not. He just hoped that they could get something out of her.

It didn't take them long to rush into the orphanage. The children were waiting, some asking questions. They went ignored for the time. They couldn't afford to stop now.

A free room was quickly found. Elliot waited on Leo to pull the blankets away on the bed before they would lay her down and cover her up again. If they needed other blankets, they would find them.

Elliot stepped back afterward, a tad unsure of what to do next. They were here now, easier to see things with the light around them. His heart sank a little, the young woman looking much paler than he had expected.

He ran a hand through his hair again, trying to think of something, anything to say or ask. It all seemed to die on his tongue, worry taking over instead. Until the doctor arrived, Elliot wasn't sure if there was anything more to say or do.

"Think she'll be alright?" He asked, if only to break the silence around them.

----[✩]----

Break wasn't sure how much time had passed. Having abandoned his umbrella when he'd chased after her, he was now soaked through. He did little to complain about this. Compared to her, he was in good health.

Leena hadn't made much effort in speaking, though he couldn't find reason to blame her. He had done little make a good impression. For most, that was the case.

Ignoring those around him, he spared a glance about. Most were rather curious. He knew they would be, just as he was curious of her. Break said nothing to this.

It seemed like hours before he managed to get back. He puffed out a large sigh, ignoring anyone who might try to stop his path. It wouldn't be long until he found Sharon or Reim as it was.

"We'll find you a room and get you fixed up!" He announced, pushing open a door. "Best get you some new clothing too. Do you feel sick? Feverish? The like?"

Break waited as he sat her down on a bed. She didn't seem to have much to say, looking far too tired for her own good.

"I suppose I might fetch a doctor." He announced, if only for himself.

With that said, he started back the way he had come, closing the door behind him. It wouldn't be long before he returned with someone who could help her.

The girl was settled in quickly, Elliot's jacket still around her for added warmth. She was shivering, though it didn't seem as bad as it had been before. Leo hoped that it was because they were in, out of that dreary fog.

Shaking his head, he spared a glance Elliot's way. "I'd like to think that she'll be."

Without another word Leo strode forward, pulling the comforter up over her shoulders. She needed the warmth and until Mary showed up with the doctor this was the best that they could do. Leo didn't want to mess with that wound of hers, after all.

He took the time to observe her then, her hair damp and sticking to her face and neck was blonde in color though he couldn't get a look at her eyes. Leo wondered where she was from to have been dressed as she was. Perhaps, when she was better, he could ask.

"Mary shouldn't be long," Leo noted.

----[x]----
Leena didn't spare a glance around at their surroundings as Break walked. She could hear people talking though it did little to reach her attention further. Break was quiet as they went, though she supposed it was to be expected.

It remained this way for quite some time. Eventually, however, he spoke up. Leena lifted her head just enough to glance around, brow furrowing at the large yard and even the glimpse of the building before they were inside.

Confusion bubbled in her as she took in the decor. It was all so clean and proper, things in their right spots and looking quite expensive. Where the fuck am I? Leena wasn't sure if she wanted to know. Any given thing in the place looked like it cost more than her life.

The thought was gone as soon as it came, though the feeling of inferiority didn't leave, as Break finally put her down. Leena kept a hand pressed to her wound, wary of losing any more blood. She liked to think the pressure helped to ease the throbbing as well.

She tossed Break a look, brow raised. He'd tossed her over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes earlier and now he cared about her health?

Leena didn't get much time to reply before Break had left. She gusted out a sigh, shuffling in her seat. Already the bed beneath her was damp and she could spy a few puddles from where Break had stood. Leena wasn't sure what to do, feeling awkward as it stood.

Elliot rubbed the back of his neck, a little stiff. It wasn't as if the girl was heavy. He wasn't used to carrying someone, much less the distance he had walked. He puffed out a sigh, nodding slightly to Leo's words.

"I hope so, after all of this." He replied.

Sparring a glance back, he noted she was still shivering. Was it a fever or from being out in the cold so long. He hoped that her health wouldn't take a turn for the worst.

He folded his arms over his chest, glancing at the door again. Like Leo had said, it didn't take Mary to enter the room, a doctor trailing behind her. The doctor was at the young woman's side at once.

"I'd rather you both remain outside until I've finished." The doctor instructed.

"Yea bu-" Elliot attempted to argue. He was quickly cut off by the wave of a hand.

"I won't be terribly long." He assured. "Don't worry."

He hesitated but eventually, relented. If that's what it took for this man to get to work, then he wouldn't stop him. Elliot heaved a sigh, motioning to Leo instead.

"Let's wait outside." He suggested. At least way, they could calm the children, if only for a distraction.

----[✩]----

It didn't take long for Break to fetch the local doctor. There was always one within this place, to aid to those who had been hurt on the field.

Eventually, they were back in the room again, the doctor getting to work. He watched off to the side as he tended to Leena's wound, cleaning it. Through her pain filled gasps and twisted expression, Break could tell enough that she was exhausted.

Her head tightly wrapped, the doctor was next able to determine a small fever. That, Break had long since figured, was to be expected.

"It will just take a bit of bed rest." He informed after a moment. "And dry clothing would help."

"Of course! I'm already getting on that~!" Break responded, walking forward again. "Something to eat might not do any harm either."

The doctor nodded, asking one last time if there was anything else he should worry about. There seemed to be no other pains that he could find but who knew. She'd taken a hard fall and her head wasn't in the best shape.

After all was said and done, he finally dismissed himself, leaving Break with the female once more.

"I've a dress you can wear," he informed, motioning toward the closet. "Might suit you better. That attire is leaving everyone starting at you~."

Leo hadn't been surprised when Mary had bustled inside, the doctor trailing in after her. What did surprise him was when the doctor spoke, his voice deep and one of no nonsense. Leo blinked. He had no chance to say anything, Elliot had already beat him to the punch.

"If you're sure," Leo murmured, heading out with Elliot. He cast another glance over his shoulder at the girl before the door was closed.

Around the hallway many of the curious kids lingered. Leo smiled halfheartedly and crouched down to match the height of the littlest ones. Elliot was still so awkward with the kids around here. It was often up to Leo to settle things with them.

Question after question was fired at them. Elliot looked flustered the entire time though Leo had long since grown accustomed to this sort of thing. So, smiling patiently, he took to answering as best he could.

No, they didn't know her name. Yes, she was possibly very sick and could take some time to get better. Leo didn't think she was dangerous but it was better to be safe.

Eventually the questions were dying down. However many minutes had passed in this vein was beyond Leo's knowledge. He was finding his thoughts were still back with that girl, wondering if she was faring all right.

----[x]----
Leena couldn't be sure how long had passed before Break had returned, a doctor in tow. It felt longer than it should have been when the doctor had taken to tending to her wound. Leena figured it was only because of the pain.

It was with great relief when the guy finally pulled away, after checking her temperature. Leena scoffed, glad that the doctor was at least gone. She didn't quite know what to expect with all of this and another person being here didn't help matters.

Her eyes drifted back to Break when he spoke up again. Leena still found herself rooted to the spot, as if afraid to dirty anything around her if she moved. This was a place of people with wealth, after all.

Nose wrinkling, Leena was at least glad that the dizziness wasn't getting any worse. She half-debated on being difficult and misconstruing Break's words around as some sort of an insult. At the moment she didn't have it in her.

Instead she said, "I hate dresses."

Leena's attention was pulled away at that moment as the door opened again. There stood a pretty blonde girl, her hair pulled back with a lavender ribbon and a matching dress. Pink accentuated the skirts and bodice though the girl's tawny eyes were on Leena. At least they were.

A moment after and she was looking at Break. Leena wasn't quite sure what to make of the girl's expression.

"Break! What's going on here?" There was a tilt of her head, the girl watching Break as she waited for an answer. All at once, Leena could swear she saw something click in the girl's head, her eyes alight with whatever conclusion she'd come to. "Don't tell me that you've finally found the one!"

Leena sighed, burying her face in her hands. She couldn't bother to look Break's way and see how he took this. Was this a normal occurrence? Leena didn't have time for this! Iris was still out there somewhere!

The children had been waiting on them, albeit a little further away from the door. Elliot wasn't sure how to deal with them and allowed Leo to speak for him. One question tumbled into another. At least they could understand enough of them to be answered.

He rubbed the back of his neck, unsure of how to go on. His thoughts were on the girl, if she was alright.

Eventually, Mary exited the room, informing them that the young woman would be alright, according to the doctor. He was working to stitch her wound. According to her, the girl had been so weak she hadn't resisted much or screamed.

At least something was being done. The minutes seemed more like hours before the doctor actually exited himself.

"She has a fever," he informed. "And is...panicked, I suppose that would be the correct word. I couldn't get much out of her. All she's really asked was where 'Leena' was." He shrugged his shoulder. "If you want to question her yourselves, it would be best to be gentle about it. Whatever stress she has on her is enough. There's no point in adding more."

Elliot puffed out a sigh. "Well, that's better then nothing, I suppose." He answered, sparring a glance Leo's way.

After the doctor departed, they would enter the room once again. The young woman was a little more restful in her sleep now, though still pale most likely from the pain.

"Do you...think we should try to ask her something?" He asked a little hesitantly. It felt like they were intruding, as sickly as the girl was. They needed answers however.

----[✩]----

Break had waited on her to at least speak up about the offer. At the moment, she seemed to be reigning herself in. There was still some amount of pain on her expression. Break wouldn't push as much as he used to.

He was quiet as she mulled it all over. She wrinkled her nose, seeming to not care for the idea of wearing a dress. He had to wonder what she meant. Most women were rather comfortable in these things.

Tilting his head to one side, he scratched his cheek. Now what was he supposed to do with someone who didn't like wearing dresses?

"Well, you're making this very difficult on me, you know." He answered lightly in response. "Most women like wearing dresses!"

He attire was very different from these women. He had to wonder where she was from. The urge to question her was still there. He was about to start asking when the door opened. He blinked, turning to find Sharon.

Before he could get a word in edgewise, she'd started off on her own tangent. An amused grin spread across his lips, especially when Leena buried her face in her hands. He couldn't help it.

"Weeeelllll~! In a way, that's the truth!" He teased lightly, prodding Leena's cheek with his index finger. "She's just too shy to admit it yet!"

Whatever response he received from his behavior wouldn't bother him. Things like this never did.

Leo stood as Mary emerged from the room, a serious look to her. His heart had started to pound in his chest at that though her words were much less serious. A sigh escaped Leo at that, glad that it wasn't any worse. They'd been so worried as it was.

"I'll make sure Elliot doesn't get pushy," Leo mentioned, ignoring the look shot his way. Elliot had a way of pushing his opinions on people, after all.

A few moments had passed before the doctor would leave, allowing them to slip inside and see this girl. Already Leo's mind was whirling. Who was she and why was she asking for this 'Leena' girl? He hoped she'd be able to hold a conversation. If nothing else they could try and get her to eat something, to help keep her healthy.

He shook his head at Elliot. Peeking inside, the girl looked so miserable. Was she even aware of anything yet?

"I don't suppose that it would hurt, as long as we don't get loud," Leo murmured.

With that he slipped inside, a small smile on his lips in case she looked up. Clasping his hands behind his back he sidled up to the edge of the bed, trying to catch a peek at her face.

"Hello," he said quietly, waiting for her to respond.

----[x]----
Leena had spared Break a halfhearted look. Just because others liked them didn't mean she was entitled to, after all. Besides, after the trouble he put her through Leena felt he could use someone returning the 'favor.'

There was no further response from her due to the door opening and allowing the pretty blonde girl inside.

Whatever might have been this girl's response to Break, expression-wise, was missed by Leena when she'd buried her face in her hands. Agitation flared in her chest when Break sidled up to her, poking at her face. She lifted her head to glare up at him.

"I swear to god-"

"Wait. She was the source of all of the rumors?" The girl wondered, cutting Leena off.

Glancing her way, it was easy to see that her excitement had calmed, or at least she had grown more serious. Whatever all of these rumors had been that passed around so quickly they were telling more than just about her. Leena frowned, unsure of how to think about all of it.

She tried to keep her impatience at bay, if only because this girl had done nothing to her. In fact, she looked rather kind, if appearances were anything to go by.

"I guess that'd be me," Leena muttered.

"Oh! Forgive me, I haven't properly introduced myself! I'm Sharon Rainsworth," she said with a nod of her head. "Break hasn't been harassing you too much now, as he?"

"Leena," she said in return, shooting an agitated look Break's way. He still seemed entirely too happy about everything. "Something like that..."

The pains had been immense, though Iris could do little to scream out. Her body ached, protested even as she wanted to move or speak. All she could manage was mumbling. Even then, her worries had been on Leena and not herself.

She barely noticed to change in centenary or the bed she was placed into. People had been speaking but she made little effort to reply to it. They weren't important. Not now.

Iris felt too hot and then too cold. She shivered, someone hovering above her again. Pain had flared up in her wound. She only managed a few whimpers in protest, her body refusing to give much more.

Eventually, that person left as well. She opened her eyes slowly, her head throbbing. She ran a hand through her hair, sucking in a pained breath. She tried to sit up, her side complaining at once.

She stiffened, barely noticing the figures that had entered the room until one had spoken. A small smile was on his lips. She studied his face, large glasses obstructing her view of his eyes. His hair was very long and shaggy.

"W-who?" She inquired quietly. She glanced at the sandy blond, watching as he scoffed.

"And you thought I'd scare her." He joked lightly. Iris swallowed hard, her throat burning in response."How are you feeling?" He inquired after a few moments. "You had us pretty worried."

Iris shifted nervously, clasping her hands together. She averted her gaze, her stomach in knots.

"Where's Leena?" She asked in a vain hope that either might know.

----[✩]----

Break couldn't help but chuckle at the sour expression that crossed her face. She wasn't lightening up at all, though very few did in his presence. He had a talent for chasing people off. They couldn't take the way he picked and prodded people.

Break threw his hands into the air, his long sleeves covering his hands. He grinned widely, seeming chipper as ever. He ignored Leena's response, cut off as it was anyways.

"That would be correct!" He answered lightly. "And she's quite the trouble maker as well~."

Break didn't go into any details. Sharon knew him well enough. She could easily figure out what had happened from Leena's demeanor alone. Many people appeared to be this way in his presence.

"I was just about to ask her a few questions," he motioned toward her. "Of course, that might wait a little longer. I believe I've soured Leena's mood."

He chuckled at the look sent his way, waving it away. It did little to effect him. Often times, this was true for him. It was easily brushed off.

"You'll only get sicker if you keep refusing dry clothing~." He taunted a little bit afterward.

They couldn't have that. Leena was a mystery and whatever answers she had to the happens that day, they would need to gather them. If her health declined, they would be out of luck.

Leo scoffed softly, resisting glancing back at Elliot. He at least hadn't raised his voice yet though there was nothing to agitate him either. Leo hoped it would remain that way. The last thing this girl needed was more stress was she was injured and sick.

"I'm Leo and this is Elliot," he introduced, gesturing between the two of them.

The girl didn't seem apt to give her name just yet, glancing between the two. There was a look on her face, as if she hadn't quite grasped where she was yet.

It was quiet after Elliot had spoken. The girl didn't seem to hear him at all, asking again for this Leena person. Leo's brow furrowed and he shared a cautious glance with Elliot.

"You were the only one we found out there," he admitted.

Leo watched the girl's face for a moment. She looked utterly devastated and he could only wonder what she must be thinking.

----[x]----
Sharon had an indulgent smile on her face, looking more like the little sister listening to her brother prattle on about football or a video game. Leena wondered what exactly the two were to each other before the thought flitted away. It wasn't any of her business as it was.

"Well, perhaps we'll have someone stubborn enough to keep you on your toes then!" Sharon said, that gleam in her eye again.

Leena merely listened to the two chat, observing each in turn. Whoever they were they had yet to really say what they wanted with her. Or, at least, Break hadn't. He was the one talking about interrogations, after all.

At the mention of a change of clothes, Leena got a stubborn look on her face. "I'm fine. I don't wear dresses."

Sharon at least looked concerned by this, her eyebrows knitting together and a hand coming to her mouth in thought. For a moment Leena could only wait, wondering what might be on the girl's mind. She looked quite a bit younger than Leena was.

"Oh dear... I'm afraid we might not have anything to fit you otherwise," Sharon said.

Of course, Leena scoffed to herself. She felt ridiculous, sitting here arguing about dresses when Iris was still out there somewhere. If Leena had been injured then what about Iris?

Her attention turned to Break as he spoke up again. Exasperated she said "Didn't I tell you already that no one ever said I was smart?"

"Calm down, I'm sure we can agree to something!" placated Sharon, holding her hands out as if that would do the trick.

She watched as the shaggy haired male named 'Leo' introduced the sandy blond nearby. Elliot gave a simple nod, arms crossed over his chest. He seemed to try to feign a softer expression but it appeared difficult for him.

Iris swallowed hard again, shifting in her spot. She grimaced at the pain erupted in her side again. It felt as if it burned before it tried to ebb away again.

"Iris." She finally gave her own name. Her voice was soft, scratchy even. "My name is Iris..."

She waited on her question to be answered. Leo and Elliot spared a glance toward one another. Elliot shook his head, leaving her stomach twisting in knots. The news afterward was not what she wanted to hear. Her grip tightened on the comforter over her as she ducked her head.

"I see..." She murmured in response.

Elliot shook his head. This wasn't getting anywhere. He did his best to keep his impatience reigned in. She looked so down as it was. An outburst wouldn't do her good. Keeping a damper on his temper was often difficult however.

"Do you remember how you got down there?" He finally asked. "That place is dangerous, you know."

Elliot waited, furrowing his eyebrows as she mulled it over. A simple shake of the head followed.
"I don't remember." Came her answer. Elliot spared another glance toward Leo, a small shrug following.

----[✩]----

Break had laughed a little in response to her words. He had to wonder if Leena would be able to keep up at all. This young woman was already annoyed with him as it was. He could only imagine what else he could do to pick at her.

"I don't believe I'll have to worry about that." He answered lightly in return.

He waited for her to response. She still didn't want to wear a dress, despite it being the only thing they had to offer. He shook his head a moment later.

"My, you are stubborn," he mused lightly in response. "Don't blame me if you end up with some deadly illness!"

Break studied her expression. She'd looked away, looked even a tad worried. He tilted his head at that. What could she be so worried about? Perhaps that was what was making her impatient.

"Now, it's not nice to hide things," he noted, waving a hand animatedly. "What's on your mind?"

He had to wonder. As strange as this woman was, she seemed to hold several secrets. He could only hope she'd speak up about them. If she did not, he would have to figure out a way to find that information.

"We are very calm~." Break said, lifting his arms up a little. "No worries at all here!"

Leena looked as if she thought differently. Break scoffed a little at that. This one had quite a bit on her mind, if he was reading her correctly.
